    I'm in for 2010

I have included the 1.5 miles I walked with the bike to get to ice free roads.

One for les patrons to rule on.

    Also I'm ahead of McMullej.

    Won't last

    But for now I'm ahead.

Attempted a 15 mile (ish) run down to Dartford and back this afternoon - just as a new load of snow-fall started. A chilly wind was against me all the way to Erith. Motorists were behiving in their usual brand of unfathomable stupidity just cos of a bit of snow.

Found a new way of warming up in this cold. go and stand next to the thames estuary for 5 minutes and then move away. Feels warm.

Managed a bit more than 15 miles in the end. It wasn't wholly pleasant. Wanted to cycle more, but it is like hell out there.

Might see if I can do more tomorrow.

No riding at all today. Feel... unbalanced. Sick of snow and ice now.

Like McMullej, no riding for me today - celebrated the start of the thaw by going to B&Q, so shelves to put up this afternoon.

  • 22 miles offroad in the snow, only thing that was keeping me going on the loop back was the thought of submitting the miles this morning :-) Feet are just thawing now!

Can you confirm that? If it's true then it would appear that Hell has frozen over... and there's a whole shedloads of things that I was told wouldn't go my way until that happened...!

Ah yes - but I didn't specify which hell i meant.

"Although generally Hell is often portrayed as a hot steaming and tormenting place for sinners, there is one Hell pit which is characterized differently from the other Hell in Islamic tradition. Zamhareer is seen as the coldest and the most freezing Hell of all; yet its coldness is not seen as a pleasure or a relief to the sinners who committed crimes against God. The state of the Hell of Zamhareer is a suffering of extreme coldness, of blizzards, ice, and snow which no one on this earth can bear."

Right, I'm back in the game (or at least will be from next Monday). Determined to calculate all mileage this year, although my return trip of 14 miles won't set any records. Hang on, just read the rules:
All other miles must be added, as long as they can genuinely be counted as cycling miles. Any distance on any bike should be added as long as it can be convincingly argued to be 'a proper bike ride'.

    Excellent.

Hmm can't quite manage 10 miles a day, snow and a hilly route means my 20 min morning blast acheived 4.4 miles

One of my excuses is that the 20 mins includes warm up time.

I'm slightly confused about the people who's YTD and January columns don't match. If you didn't do the miles in January, just exactly when did you do them?

In my case i didn't join the stats thingy til the 6th Jan (or so, I forget), by which time I'd already done 115 miles. I couldn't be bothered/ couldn't work out how to enter them all individually as different trips so just entered the previous total and now going on from there.
