Feel like convincing will3 of the same?

Then again, I want to be commuting the rest of this week, to get my 5000th commuting mile in...

That's me done on the commuting front. And very pleased I am about it too - I need to rest the lungs a bit. And eat more french pastries. I'm off to the deli this morning to buy some meatballs for lunch, too. :D

Going to try to sneak in some riding round the Park before the NY, but 7,900 miles looks to be the max.

whats RP like at the moment? Bushy is still a bit iffy, though to be fair I'm going though either early or late.

was really lovely by moonlight though.

Some slush was beginning to form, but I didn't encounter any ice, and I rode from Roehampton to Robin Hood, up to the middle, along the path (where you're more likely to get ice) to Ham Gate, along the path to Kingston Gate. Ok, so an unnecessarily long route, but what the hey?! :)

My road hasn't frosted over overnight, I'd be cautious about hard snow/ice this morning - you know what micro-climate the Park has.

  • 370+ miles to reach my 5k target. With only one possible commute day it's gonna take 3 long (potentially solo) rides early next week. Or alternatively 190 odd trips to my local M&S.

But whatever way it goes, thanks to CIB for all the hard work over the last year. SC stats looking better than ever! See you in 2010.

Looks like I'm done for this year now. Maybe a couple of days between xmas and new year depending on the weather.

I'm not chancing it today - reckon that round here, it might even be worse than yesterday - there were a lot of melted bits and patches of fresh snow - that'll all be ice this morning.

So taking the bus in today. Hopefully I'll get two more cycling days in before xmas - plus a nice xmas day ride.

Eventually got out on the bike for 3 laps of RP. The roads were fine, if damp. The path between my place and the road not so much.

So quiet in the park, it was lovely :) Bright blue skies, frost-topped meadows. Why did it take so long to get out the door this morni... er afternoon?

    Other points of note:
My CV fitness seems to have also gone on holiday.
My overshoes are no longer white.

Dusted the MTB down, literally then knocked out a couple of miles in the deep fresh snow, pretty good fun all round actually but hell that bike is super heavy, the front wheel is much more knobbly than the rear which seems to work well.

Then I had a "good" hard 30 mins on the turbo, good to get it in the "big ring" again

  • It's a bit warmer tomorrow so back on it again :

I don't care if it's chucking it down - I am riding to work :

SWMBO remarked that the longer I go without either running (5 months now) or more to the point cycling, the less palatable the prospect of sharing a house with me becomes.

She obviously doesn't understand how lucky she is despite me reminding her pretty much on a daily basis. I'll have to start leaving her little notes again to make sure the message is getting through .....

    Nice one EPS, small world.

Riding in the snow is a bit like roller training

Keep it smooth and balanced and it is ok

If I thought 5000 was still attainable by me I'd have been cycling today.

joking aside the consequences don't bear thinking about. It was minus 4 today and I saw a guy on a bike on an untreated road proceeding very carefully. I gave him a massive berth but noone else did.

I saw paramedics out dealing someone on the road last night - couldn't see if it was a ped, cyclist or what - but there were no parked vehicles in sight - probably someone slipped on the ice.

Definately safer on the roads than on the path.

Commute was quite eventless this morning

Indeed - I walked down the road today after getting out of my warm toasty car because the pavement was totally impossible.

  • I need to add something soon to avoid falling off the board before the end of the year. Whinlatter here we come, on my brother's ancient fully rigid Orange C16 complete with ridiculous old skool long stem with about as much stiffness as a male appendage in the vicinity of Gwen Stefani (i.e. none).
  • just 60 miles short of 7000. no cycling tomorrow so will have to crack them off inbetween the holidays. I am not not missing that target.

Yeah, I've been forcing myself in and out of work this week to make 5000 commuting miles. Should hit it tomorrow, all going well :)

Just added a completely fabricated 0.1 mile, just to put my name onto the final board.

No mileage in December due to chest infection but I'm hoping to get miles in before the New Year just to get over the 1000 miles.

Lots of personal issues this year which are beginning to resolve themselves and should allow more cycling time.

    Target for 2010 - 3500 miles

Penultimate commute of 2009 completed. (or first half of the last commute?). And a very fine commute it was too. A few mates who are not working today wanted to go for a MTB ride this morning. I talked them in to accompanying me on my off-road commute.

The main roads are pretty much clear around here but some of the well-used tracks, paths and bridleways are solid compacted snow/ice. Had to walk a bit.

Was very late for work. But... it's christmas!

Have a good one everybody. Looking forward to 2010.
