Ha ha. Lovely. I'm taking the bike with me over the Christmas relative visiting period, so might be able to add another 50 or so before the end of year climax. A top10 finish disappeared down the chute a long while ago though.

Note that if you plan to add miles for 2009 beyond the new year, you'll have to get them in by the end of Sunday Jan 3rd. After that time 2009 stats will be locked from any further input. Or at least that's the plan, and it worked in testing. :)

Still plenty of ice free riding days left people, I hope you're not all sitting at home stuffing yourself with left overs

I theory I can squeeze in 160 miles by the end of the year although there's a severe weather warning for Tuesday, heavy snow.....

You'd need some kind of studded or spiky tyres to cope with those conditions

itboffin - how do you get your Training Diary to look so neat? Just having a play about with google Docs spreadsheets and mine look a mess!

UPDATE: Don't worry, worked it out...you have to publish as a web page!

I did 3 miles today. To the station, no trains for an hour then back to the house to get in the car.

Too snowy for the roadie this morning, and too many mince pies to drag the MTB 20 miles.

Just kidding, great work chap, it's been a blast this year, I seriously consider giving fixedweasel a run for his money if i wasn't so god damn cold and I wasn't so lazy.

How many next year will join the elite 7000 club or even more the 8000 club

    +1.

Chapeau. I'm picturing you riding into the wind and rain, head down, with gritted teeth - lone breakaway styleeee - muttering to yourself about how your damned if you're settling for less than 7,000 miles, and then two arms aloft as you pass 7,000 miles. :)

  • That is pretty much as it happened. Cycled out 11 miles into yesterdays strong easterly wind, turned around and wizzed home. No arms aloft more of a thank god thats over.

    That's it i'm done for 2009

this pic marks the point of 7000 painful, hard, fun at time but most of all rewarding miles.

of course I added an extra 17 miles afterwards bringing my total for 2009 to.....

Those aiming for 8000 in 2010 i'm sure you know already but that's 22 miles (approx) a day 7 days a week, 365 days of the year

    Gulp!

    Gulp!

    or - 30 miles every weekday (=7800) + a 50 miler once every 3 months.

For those who have 30 mile commutes do-able

However, I'm still only aiming for 7,000 thank you very much.

I'm planning a daily 50 mile round trip commute in 2010, currently 45 so not a great leap but enough to make the difference, as CJCP so wisely pointed out, consistency it the key success.

    50mi * 260 w/days = 13,000 miles

clearly I'm going to miss a couple of weeks here and there plus they'll be weekend rides and sportives to add, so I think 8,000-9,000 is a reasonable goal

    or at 18mph that's 444hrs (18.5 days)

or 6 laps of Ireland

or GTVLusso putting his feet up and not bothering for 4 months

I'll be sticking with my 3500 miles aspiration, gotta build from somewhere :D
