I'm eyeing the snow outside, and thinking "but if I want 10th place, I can't afford to not ride in"

Cripes, looking at who's left now, I can't help thinking that if I hadn't gone on holiday in october and had the flu earlier in the year I'd be top 10 by now.

I'm having a month off work in about 6 weeks, hopefully the weather will be crap and everyone will be on PT  If not, I'll have to get the baby seat on my roadie!

No snow with me this morning, but I had exactly the same thought process. :)

You mean some of you didn't cycle 20 mile through the snow this morning?
(although it did take me about 2.5hours )

I was going to, but the wife asked me to take the car (she's 34 weeks pregnant I don't argue)

The wind put me off yesterday it would have taken me until about 8 o'clock to get home.

Ha while you're all busy sleeping off you're hangovers I've already clocked up more miles and when I get off this train I'll be adding another 11 miles, wooohooooo!

Rich: you can forget about that old guy. Put your feet up, mate.

Looks like Aidy did some miles today too. :wink

Btw, Aidy - the AA website says your commute's is indeed 16 miles. I thought it would be a few miles more. Duh!

I've got one as well. This is either the third I'e had since the start of December or the same one I've not been able to shift since the start of December. Had plans for a short ride in RP with JG this morning too :x

    Just one or two :)
No doubt will3 will come flying past, like, tomorrow.

    Weirdly enough, I know ;)
It's a common confusion, though. People always seem to think the M25 is loads further away than it is.

My wife and son have had a cold for the whole of December so far, I succumbed a week and a half ago, ended up with chest and sinus infection. Think my year is at an end, although I may have a nip round Whinlatter over Christmas, which is less than 10 miles but would at least mean I don't disappear of the list!

Did the bronchial problems result from getting back on the bike too soon? This always concerns me as to when is "right" to get back on, as I always believe too soon could result in more time off the bike

That had never occured to me tbh - I assumed that it was all due to stress, working far too hard, and my marriage breaking down, etc.

In fact - it felt to me that getting fitter on the bike through the first 6 months of this year was part of how I got healthy again.

Yeah, nice try, Sunbeam. I don't believe you. Not for one moment.

My last commuting mileage is today. An inability to ride yesterday has almost certainly put paid to any plans to beat the 8,000 mile mark for the year. Have beaten my target of 7,000 miles though, so that's gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood. :)

My new goal is 7000 for the year, hence my new post about studded tyres, I'm not having another wasted Jan.

oh and CJ I have considered the stabilisers but it seems they don't make them to fit 700c wheels

I'm so bruised you wouldn't believe it, if JG had a bit more meat on him it might have been a softer landing

  • Need to do another 100 and a couple to break 4500 since August which would augur well for next year but I really need the weather to give me a break. Don't fancy doing 40 odd miles in and out of work on the MTB - it's so slow.

I'd have to leave the house at 6.00am and if I was lucky I'd be home in time for Newsnight.

So if push comes to shove it's going to have to be 100 or so laps of the estate .......

    You think I'm kidding don't you :):):)

I did the same last year, I was so fed up with the mud, rain & muck spreading I did circuits of the village - several times
