  • can you bear to take the risk?! You can bash out 40 miles at the weekend, surely...

How are you feeling this month, incidentally - has it taken its toll?

The cycling's great, it's all the other stuff in between that gets you down

Well, that is me off the saddle for the rest of the year.
Tore calf muscle playing squash last night.
Bang goes my ticking it over in December, after a poor November.

But, what this will mean is that I will be more determined than ever to hit the ground running in the New Year.

Hard work in January...... BRING IT ON!!!

Best to add it on Sunday before you've done it, then delete it if you don't do the miles. Month ends are a bit oddball and without checking the source code I can't promise what will happen tbh. It'll be resolved soon though.

Last night there were a couple of additional stats in there. Put it down to 'testing'.

I saw someone cycling with a lower leg cast on last night.

Well, it was horrendous weather this morning. Wind pushing me into the middle of the road and lakes forming enough for animals to be happy to be ushered into a big wooden boat two by two. My Sealskinz socks were completely soaked, and then my front light battery pack pointed out the fact I'd forgotten to charge over the weekend...

But none of that matters. I hit my target of 5,000 commuting miles this morning :D:D

No sportives/race, and only two weekend rides. Just from and to work (with a few detours  )

I'd like to thank everyone for the spirited banter on this forum. Even though I'm out there on my own, it's good to know that there is a community of nutters out there doing the same thing come rain or shine.

I'm off to bask in my achievement, and forget that I'm only 12th in the Stats

I'll have hit my 4000 miles since August tonight as well.

Congratulations all round are in order I think!! :D:D:D

  • nice one, my target of top 30 on full user list looks to be a very forlorn hope now, what with all the people joining in november but I've just gone through 7 on the climb ratio after a weekend ride on the Raven Trail at Brechfa - nice!

Well done on the 1st posted 1000 mile month Will3 too. And SpursN17, can you slow down a bit please, what's with all these miles in a cold and wet November!

@salsajake - yeah, sorry for the late post of the stats but don't give up. Cleaned all the crud out of my bike at the weekend and was too disheartened at the prospect of getting it filthy again today to go for the long (20m) commute. Prob just as well - filthy morning (but then again trains were stuffed too).

ill again. Everything aches and my balance is off so I got the train in. There goes November in a handcart - here's to a better December.

Gggrrrrrrrrrr, a certain Welshman has relegated me back to third again

Come on then cjcp, how many more miles have you got up your sleeve, looks like it's going to quite a ding-dong for that second place  This old boy may have to defer to the younger challenger for the time being, but there's always next year

With Christmas holidays beckoning, there are very few miles left up the sleeve, I'm afraid. Last week was a monster one by my standards, normal by yours, so I don't expect to fend you off for longer than the next two weeks.

    Excellentness, 4 figures, nice.
Though I should point out that due to the slight glitch when you add a whole weeks worth in a week ending in the next month, There's a bit from October in there.

Next target: 1000 miles properly in the month
    then 1500

Pressure? Ha, I eat pressure for breakfast*.

Actually, Will3 is catching at a rate of knots and current second division leaders SimonAspinall and Gazza will cause some problems when they update. I don't think I'll be troubling the top ten come the end of the year.

    You big wuss :)

Went home in a snow storm last night.

Thought I was going to have to ride the MTB today but all is white and calm so I brought the road bike.

Going to get some studded tyres for the hack at the weekend. I won't be beaten by the weather

  • I don't mind riding in -3, its the frost and ice on the untreated minor roads that had me off twice without warning or a chance of a save last winter and after which I vowed not to ride in again if there had been a harsh frost. Last night's fell into that category. Its ages since I've ridden in snow, but you are right, its much better than riding on ice!

Ok chaps, and you ladies too. I've bitten the bullet and stuck the new version of Stats up. There's more detail than necessary as to the reasoning behind this change and a link to the new version at the 'old' URL, but in essence, it was going to collapse in a small heap during the Christmas week. It might have been a small funeral with a handful of mourners, or more likely a big fuss and shouts of 'Where's our stats?'. This is the - my - answer.

All users & stats have been migrated over to the new one, even those charlatans who signed up and never troubled the scoreboard again with subsequent miles. I like big numbers so I've left you all in.

Make of what you will, but unless it goes drastically wrong it's a one-way street, going from scStats to aspStats. Don't all complain at once.

I couldn't sort by YTD though...

    Was that intended?

    Excellent, chris.

But - howcome I've jumped ahead of you. I was about 100 miles behind you yesterday and my bike hasn't moved from the hallway. My mileage is still correct so i'm asuming you've lost some in the transfer.

Not that I'm complaining like

That'll teach me - I was playing with the deletes and forgot to put my miles back afterwards. I've reset my total to my final figure from scStats, thereby putting me back where I belong, ahead of you. Edit -

Jimmy P - YTD sort is the default when you go to the page. If you don't sort on any other column YTD is the chosen sort.
  • Really like the new page, however, the mileage calculation seems to be a bit out. My miles in the WTD field are 14 miles too high and if I look at November in the add page it doesn't quite tally either.

But I don't meant to sound negative at all, a very professional job and I find it interesting to measure myself against some very dedicated riders.

Probably due to the old way of adding new miles around month end into the new month, as it was weekly driven, but I'll take a look tonight. TBH one of the probs with the old way was the transition into each new month, and this resolves that by dropping the weekly basis for the stats.
