  • yup agree, I did loads more miles in Jan and feb this year than previously just by getting a good weekend ride in once a week (when it was dryish :? ) and actually having the right riding gear for a change!

Or 5 days commuting for me 8)

actually I'm seriously considering cycling from London to Plymouth before the end of this year - 250 miles - that'd close the gap easily.

That's alright then. I'll get 3 days in this week = 126, plus the Blelnheim Sportiv on Sunday which'll add another 100 on, as long as I don't blow up halfway round. Plus a few training miles. I really ought to add the three miles for Monday & Tuesday morning riding the boys to school & back as well. It would be unethical to double up the return from school that I do with two bikes, riding mine whilst pushing his alongside. That's another 1½ miles to add. 8)

Tell you what, it's good to see the updates coming in. The more the page looks like a marmalade cat, the more activity it's seeing. Good stuff. Shame on those that aren't bothering any more though. Booo hiss.

We'll see. I may have some work-related travel coming up, so that's going to dramatically slow down my charge to the 8,000-mile mark.

No - three days at least, four if i'm feeling lazy :)
  • Had to update the one column I was hoping to avoid. Finaly caught by the farmers hedgerow cutting yesterday. Kevlar is no match for natures barded wire. It was only a matter of time, they`ve been at it for weeks.

If you considered your climbing in a fractal sense you could probably quote an almost infinite number of feet. I am deeply suspicious of that stat and won't be contributing (which has nothing to do with Putney Bridge being the biggest climb on my commute).

Anyway, go on go on go on go on. Go on. Go on, go on go on go on............

TBH, I am sure it is vastly less accurate than the mileage but at least it can be assumed that everyone is understating their climbs rather than over-estimating.

Shame that some twonk thinks it's clever to push against an open gate and vandalise the allotment. Whatever lights your candle etc. Ho hum. V clever, we're all deeply impressed.

It's sort of fixed, but the regular backups aren't really a huge benefit; I can roll it back on, we lose a day's input and someone somewhere can crow about hacking a web page, one that exists purely on a 'come on in - it's nice here' basis. Anyone for cookies? I'm not, but we might have to eventually, which would be a shame.

Anyway. Back to the race. Porgy seems to have encroached into my personal space. In not many hours from now I'll be extending that gap. Hopefully.

    Pip pip.
  • Didn't realise someone had messed it up, I always keep my own record anyway, so its easy enough to check if my miles and height gain have been tampered with. I don't do it month by month, but its the total that's important (although I am chuffed to be 4th for September, on the last day of the month)

I had a week off too... but I think we both still clocked up decent September mileage. I reckon there are a few fair weathers/randoms that will be gone by years end.

Your drop might be due to newcomers simply adding huge YTD figure. The cheek of some people! I even feel guilty about logging my Jan-Mar figures on here because I wasn't on the thread at the time.

Ahh that makes ne feel better and worse at the same time, I was basing my loss on your place because we were roughly level before I went away. I'm going to have to do some weekend riding I think 200 miles a week isn't bumping me up he board as much as I'd like.

Add the lot. YTD means Year To Date. Just because it didn't really kick off until about May doesn't mean your miles don't count. Get them in.

As for the Johnie-come-latelies, there's a pattern of them sticking up a big figure and then disappearing without troubling the database any further, which justifies the 3-week cutoff. The stragglers list gives them the option of making a comeback, but in my eyes the Regular Updaters board is the only one that matters.

TBH I wasn't recording it anywhere before here anyway so I'm not gonna add in some mean average guestimate mileage. There's always next year mind...
