Families do like to see Dad/husband from time to time - I used to find bank holidays were family days - no anti-social cycling allowed. :(

I managed to fit in 6 miles with the family today for a picnic. Blimey, it's hard work towing a tag-a-long!

Have been baking this afternoon, have made the kids' tea, put the kids to bed each night, the Good Lady is off swimming tonight, swimming with the kids tomorrow morning, sanding/painting a chest of drawers tomorrow, so reckon I will have earned enough brownie points to fit in a few laps of the Park on Monday morning. :)

Doesn't look good for me breaking into the top 40. Got a gap of 260 miles to make up :(

Not much to add these days; gloating over Porgy's failure to keep ahead is a distant memory since he started attending works meetings by bike. What a git. :).

It's ticking over though - about 50 of us 'mileage junkies' are regularly adding our stats as & when. Shame about the other 20 or so who've given up. Come on - it's not an A Level exam, just a bit of a pointless challenge.

Was there some sort of initial set up amnesty where you could declare your starting point?

There are loads of entries where the total of the months doesn't equal the YTD mileage.

I started six weeks or so after the start gun so am at a major disadvantage.

Yeah we're just doing year to date, not miles since SC stats started. Add you old miles in too, just make sure it puts you lower than me of I'll have you killed

  • I thought Greg T was punching above his position at the moment! I'm just wondering where you are going to jump too once you add them in.

Someone else has crept in over the weekend too, knocking me down a place and making my bid for top 30 a bit harder... Who would do a thing like that?

I've just been off for the week, with the intention to add a few long trips to keep the mileage up.

I managed to touch my bike yesterday, and that was to clean it

So, will need to MTFU on the trips home to compensate...

When someone climbs aboard and registers there's a prompt to add in your miles so far this year - your start point effectively. Obviously as subsequent miles are added your YTD grows. I reckon I kicked off with about 1400 or so by April when this whole thing got going; miles shown in the months since + 1400 or so should add up the current total.

Hope this doesn't mean a handful of people below me are going to suddenyl overtake me.

Do a rough calculation of your YTD based on your normal weekly average.

    Starting from January?

    I'm circa 550 - 650 miles a month (ish)

He's only gone and gone top 10! I was 31st yesterday, now 33rd and a whopping 242 miles off 30th. Grrrrrrrr. Having the most miles in September so far has just lost its sheen somewhat.
  • I have to say, i am really happy with my mileage so gar this year, and this week will see me hit the 4500 mark...my target for the year was 5000, so an easy last 3 months possibly!
However Mr Boffin chapeau..looks like you will inexorably hit the 6K mark this week, now thats impressive, i am wondering if you do the old speedo trick that dodgey car salesman used to use to get milegae down...but do the reverse! :D:D:D

I do hope we hit the quarter of a million mark by year end

agreed, there are some very impressive stats, which does help add some context to what others of us consider are monster miles, and those of us who might be thinking "Hmmm, is x miles a week doable?" I don't have a mileage target as such, but will be chuffed when I have done more than the average, which, whilst it is a moving target, should be at some point pretty soon.

Did a 73 mile sportive this weekend - 7100 feet! Increased my total climb for the year by almost 10 percent in one go

Done my climb ratio some good too. Do need more people to add in their climbing though.
