I don't know how many cyclists there are in the UK, but probably a big proportion of them have access to the 'net- there are over 175,000 registered users on BikeRadar.
Out of that 175,000 there are only 140 who've joined the Stats league, and only a dozen of them are logging over 600 miles/month...

Well that's interesting thinking. But it's quite fascinating that they can keep logging it, if it's the true milage and not lying.

you just get into the rhythm of "get up, get on bike, pedal all day, get off, sleep, repeat" It easily becomes the norm!

I've experienced that when commuting by bike, it becomes something you love and you just keep doing it, even though you might should listen to your body and restiturate. Atleast that what happends to me. :P

meh I'm giving up with the stats. I'll continue to track them and see where I end up at the end of the year but it's pointless me trying to catch anyone or any specific position.

Well then it can't really be used to motivate you to drive further?
I find it just de-motivates me though when I do some miles that bump me up one position only to find I've dropped back down two by the following day.

I'm still going to keep trying to churn out the miles though, increase my distances. But I'll do so at my own pace otherwise I think I may push to hard.

  • Hi all,

I've just registered here, although I've been browsing threads here for about 18 months.

Quick question; I ride a road tandem with my girlfriend on weekends, do the miles I accumulate here count towards silly commuter stats?

    Thanks in advance.

I was supposed to be commuting tomorrow, but as I am going to have to work through the night and into tomorrow, I'll still be here when its time to go to work. How much does that suck?

That sucks. I'm still working if it's any consolation, and the coffee is developing in the cafetiere as I type. What won't console you is that I shall be going to bed at some point :)

    Haha

Now you see why those of us further down the table have been feeling the pain of new Statisticians.

Every time someone mentions The Stats on another thread I seem to get bumped down several places.

EDIT: Cripes, my apologies, he's not a newby

Tried out a bike this morning. Added 0.3 miles to stats

Now I have 230 odd miles to cycle before the end of Wednesday to hit the 700 miles I was hoping to do as a minimum. that'll be 110 miles over the weekend and 40 each day Monday to Wednesday. No problemo 8)
