Nasty. Good luck with the recovery.

Cheers, wasn't helped by my new GP not really knowing how severe it can get, I'm on the right stuff inhaler wise again now so I should be back upto speed in no time.

Neat - four of us on 890 miles. It's a bit tight mid-table.

Checking the Cuml Gap col last night before leaving, I need 24 miles to get into the top 50. Get home after 24.1 (with a bit of weaving around the lanes & villages to get there) and find a load of oiks around me have added miles already, negating the additional effort. This is going to get serious I sense, even down in 48th place.

Yeah, there seems to be about fifteen people vying for the last five places in the top fifty!

Anyone going to be off over Easter?

    No... thought not :-(

How do you keep riding so much!? I really don't understand how.
If I just get near about 600km (372,9 miles) for a month I'm pleased with what I've achieved for that month. I'm working on to get some more kms ridden though.
I've had trouble getting just 200km (124,3 miles) in a week, I can do that now however.

You think this is alot - Will3 would be almost 1000 miles behind the leader of the CycleChat equivalent of SC Stats!!!!

Either they are all completely nuts, or they are lying... I think the former's more likely, TBH.

It's down to making the time... bear in mind, too, that you're looking at a couple of dozen slightly obsessive cyclists, out of a pretty big population, egging each other on. One of the things about the internet is the way it allows like-minded groups to get together.
I don't know how many cyclists there are in the UK, but probably a big proportion of them have access to the 'net- there are over 175,000 registered users on BikeRadar.
Out of that 175,000 there are only 140 who've joined the Stats league, and only a dozen of them are logging over 600 miles/month...

I don't know what percentage of the population has some shade of obsessive-compulsive disorder... might be interesting to find out :-) :-) :-)

That's what I'm telling myself, anyway...

    Cheers,

I sits on my bike and I pedals.

Actually the more you do it, the easier it gets. The main restriction is time as I do have other things to do besides cycling! If you've ever gone on a long tour you'll know that eventually you just get into the rhythm of "get up, get on bike, pedal all day, get off, sleep, repeat" It easily becomes the norm!

Hambones, 1000 miles eh? Hmmmm .........let's see now, if I hadn't lost 300 miles at the start of the year to flu, if I'd managed to get out on the weekends more than once so far this year,........

Well that's interesting thinking. But it's quite fascinating that they can keep logging it, if it's the true milage and not lying.

I've experienced that when commuting by bike, it becomes something you love and you just keep doing it, even though you might should listen to your body and restiturate. Atleast that what happends to me. :P

Off on a bit of tangent, how many of us tell our OH's that we're involved in this chuffing nonsense? I've almost told my OH a couple of times that my fiddling about on the computer has resulted in <Ta daaaah> THIS - points at SC Stats - but I've bottled it, on the basis that it really is a bit of overkill bordering on OCD when viewed rationally. Is it just me with a dirty little secret, beavering away at it from time to time and doing the miles just to do the miles sometimes, and in the process maybe letting her think I might have internet pr0n habit and a bit on the side in the next but one village? :)

Oh go on then I'll just have to join you. Mind you it might be a challenge, only 18 commuting days due to an extended easter break, plus the club reliability run and a sportive only add up to about 980, it might be time to pull out the extended commute.

meh I'm giving up with the stats. I'll continue to track them and see where I end up at the end of the year but it's pointless me trying to catch anyone or any specific position.

That's the problem with the stats, they are unfairly biased in favour of anyone with a longer commute than you. They are however a bit of pointless fun, and a chance to wind up those close to you

I think the atmosphere has got a lot more competitive this year, but it depends on how you view it. Personally I'm not really paying that much attention to where I am in the league (apart from the traditional male posturing :) ).

My GF and house mates already know I'm stupid so its ok :) I have had my excel spreadsheet (with graphs  ) for a few years now, which are a bit like the online stats but break it down into the different bikes I use, HR, av speeds etc and also how many miles chains etc have done. Geektastic. Although they have questioned why I need to have my own spreadsheet and add them online...."its all about feeling included..and not competition  "

Well I have a lot of interest in the stats, but for me it's mainly related to commuting.

The miles I do at the weekend are limited, I don't want to do just garbage miles, but raise my fitness level (no cycling from October till February sucks, as well as starting smoking again)
Now that I'm off the fags (and the cigarettes too) I know it will ramp up soon, and I should be able to put the odd century at the weekend.

Aiming on an average of 150/week. And a top 50 finish!
    Get in there!

I think Mrs CJ knows about the table in that it's an online means of recording miles; not so much the extent to which I deviate from the normal route to and from work...

The nightly training rides in RP have already started. There was a healthy stream of red and white lights just after the gates close. Looked pretty cool :)

Mrs prawny knows all about it because of all the moaning I was doing on paternity leave.

She just rolled her eyes when I told her I was going to escort my boss's boss's boss to work when he starts riding in because

    a) I'm a licky brown nose that wants more money and,

    b) he lives 10 miles the other side of town to me 40 mile ride to work anyone
