Unfortunately mate, yet again footy dictates when I can't make a ride as City are at home against Man Utd on that day.

I think there is a few of us going. Looking to sort out a Cottage in Pickering for the Friday and Saturday night for a bit of a knees-up.

We used to go to Fort William every year, but I ain't been for a couple.

    Hey Guys & Gals

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!

Shame we didn't manage to get out over Christmas, still we've got all of this year to get more riding done :D Was up in the lakes for new year, took our bikes in hope that we'd get out, how foolish! It was half a foot deep in snow!

Hope you all had a superb Christmas and a lovely New Year! All the best to you all! :D See you all soon!

Which C2C are you doing? Me and a mate did the MBR one in 2008.

Spent the first 6 months of the year getting into shape

The MBR route is the most direct but most gruelling - 190+ miles XC in 4 days.

But the sense of achievment at the end is superb!

Yeah thats the one we are thinking of doing. Looking to do it in May, so trying to get in shape for it now.

It does look like a hard route, especially the first day. Hopefully do it in the same amount of days it took Mbr.

Been thinking of doing the C2C for a couple of years now, but I seriously need to get into shape if I'm going to complete it...

Do you have any recommendations of where to stay?
  • Hya Giggsy, how are you all doing?
I'm also toying with having a go at the Coast to coast this year, accomodation is less of a problem to me as the good lady will be happy (I hope) to follow on in the 'van'.
It's a good motivator to get fit to set a nice target isn't it?
I reckon it might be worth you guys looking into B&B's as if the weather is dodgy it would be good to be able to dry out and keep warm.
I've got in with a local club now, but I keep an eye on your rides to see if any fit in with our 'travels' as I know how well you welcome all 'guests'.
Good luck with the training - will be easier when all this white stuff has gone!
    Steve.
  • Hi Steve

We are all doing fine, should be able to get out bit more, now that the snow is near enough disappeared from around here. Don't know what it's like up near you though, still bit dodgy, ain't it?

Not been on the bike for a while, so it feels like I'm starting from scratch for this training. Only done a couple small rides out near me to start my legs off again...

On the C2C I think we will probably try to look for B&B with a nice pub close by, so we can have a lovely home cooked meal every night.

Next proper ride out for me will be sometime in February, once I get my fitness back up to a decent standard. So keep your eyes peeled.
  • It seems to be thawing quite quickly at the moment, theres still a lot still out on the trails though, where its got compacted. I went out with some guys on Sunday and I was embarassingly bad, could'nt keep on the bike, did improve a bit as ride went on, and was faultless on the 8 miles of road back home :D .

Tell me about I'm getting real cabin fever now, got myself a turbo trainer just to help keep my fitness up but it so boring. Santa brought me some lights so I can do some night riding now.
