  • Since its gone abit crap with the weather latery for trying anything involving riding on open moorland, anyone interested in hitting Gisburn trail centre next sunday?

    Gisburn4low-res.jpg

18km red, with black options, etc etc. Easy to do 2/3 loops of sections too.

I was thinking that trail centres dry out faster then moors/dale routes, going on what Dalby is like.

Well, this time of year I think we might get a little bit wet wherever we go...

I will be probably up for a test ride at Gisburn, if it is around Skipton area.
I have read the topic on here and it has some good reviews.

When are you at Uni Matt? I might (a big might...) have a day off next week, so if you're ok with me letting you know the day before, we could do a midweek ride across there?

I could do Friday? ALthough it depends if im at work or not. I don't really know if i am or not until the day before.. Uni is abit flat out at the moment, as well as having 2 part time jobs, its lots of days of 9-7/9pm at uni trying to catch up and keep onto of work. Read alot of great things about Gisburn both on here and singletrackworld forum, however its quiet a distance away to find out its crap.

So, we could try for Friday. Like me then, you won't know till Thursday if you're at work, so that's ok by me. At least the weather might have calmed down abit by then.

Have a good ride on Sunday mate. Was up there this afternoon, got a little bit wet, it decided to throw it down halfway into the ride....

Part of the track has been relayed since the last time I was up there, so some of it is very smooth. Did some black and red thrown in together from Dixons Hollow.

Some of the Great Britain Squad was out on a training run by the looks of it, obviously I showed them who was boss.....

lol, good to hear mate. They are doing quiet abit around section 18 due to the World Cup XC race next year. Infact at section 18 where you used to be able to either go down the red route or the black down towards the water pump, now the black is closed off where they are creating a new red descent there. As the World XC course will come up the red descent.

As we both know the nice thing about Dalby is, its fairly sheltered even when its throwing it down with rain, just a shame about it killing your brake pads.

  • I was actually going from the little bridge and onto the beast of a climb when the rain came down, so I had nowhere to hide.....;(

But, I still had a good ride out.

crikey, thats the worse place for it...

Glad to hear you had fun though! Thinking of trying some kind of mountain type route after xmas/early spring. Perhaps Snowdon/Helvellyn have to see how things with work/uni go. Also thinking of entering the Kielder 100 which is in next September too...

No can do mate. City are at home to Everton, they have moved the fixture from mid December to Wednesday night for some reason. Only found out when we were at the game on Saturday.
