I'll def be there, making a weekend of it, going up tomorrow afternoon, parking up at the Jet miners Inn at Great Broughton Fri night, few bevvies possibly  then stopping at the Buck, Chop gate Sat night, few more bevvies certainly. Then may find somewhere for a tootle on bikes with the Mrs (she likes it flat and easy) on Sunday. The weather certainly seems to be warming up!

    Steve.

Dalby is good, for any level but its £7 toll. However theres the old railway line path at Guisborough which is pretty level for the most part. It starts at Pinctinthrope

Dare'nt go to Dalby, I'd end up doing the red and she'd be spitting feathers. No we may have a ride round to the Lion at Blakey and go on the Dis Rly there, or just go for a walk somewhere.
I'm like a big kid the way I'm looking forward to Sats ride :P

I've done Saturdays route today as you might of read! you'll love it :D

As for the disused rly at Rosedale, its quiet nice. As well as being flat its pretty interesting seeing all the old iron ore stuff from years gone by!

Yeah it was a good ride, weather was very hot at times and I have learnt not to have a Mac D breakfast that early, I felt so rough.

I should be out tomorrow for a local jaunt if any one wants to meet up, I think I'll have a good sleep in though so it wont before 1pm

good ride today, but i need to get my fitness up more............and didnt help that my rear derailleur cable snaped 5 miles into ride, managed to bodge it up,but i was missing 15 gears as could only use first 4 on rear,so i was being left behind all the time

only made it up the inlcine about 400 meters as i had cramp in my calf from having to pedal in a high cadence with lack of gears......and i look a bit like a beetroot 2night from sunburn........

but i still enjoyed it.....some great downhill sections... :D

barkey>ive nicked ure pics again mate, hope you dont mind, some good pics there mate......

Danielle - if you want to meet up at 1pm at the same place or any time after just let me know.

altern_8>yeah no problem, I should of taken a picture of steve with that huge clump of mud in his helmet but he put us all to shame when it came to climbing them hills.
  • I have just had a look at your pics mate and there are some good ones in there. I have just uploaded my pics to Photobucket if any one is interested.

Enjoyed the ride yesterday, I thought is was a good mixture of XC and some very good Downhill sections.

Probably next jaunt up to the Moors or maybe Peaks depending on weather, will be in 2 weeks time. With some fitness work done in between, so Steve doesn't show us all up with his mountain goat impersonation.....

Yeah sure I'll see you both there.
  • Hi guys, thanks for a great ride, brilliant route even though I was a bit of a namby pamby on the descents, had a superb weekend, the weather has been just as good today so had a great ride out with Mary from Blakey ridge. Nice and steady along the rly to bloworth, I'll let you guess what I did next while Mary had a breather!
We also look like beetroots after all the sun!

    Steve.

PS Nice pics, was'nt the map reading one after your little detour?
  • Hola,

I have recently got into MTB through and an injury that prevents me playing rugby or hitting the gym. Somehow my physiotherapist says the only thing I can do until I fully recover fitness wise is bike. Hence I have bought a Full suss bike and a Hybrid bike.

I work in up in Fife but live Hull so during the week I get to play on Glentress or Forte William but back in Hull its either Dolby Forest (which I went on for the first time yesterday and was a scream) or around Brantingham Dales (my old rugby pre-season haunts).

Anyway I have been scouting the net for some routes and fellow MTB riders in and around Hull and I would be grateful for any info or rides out with those willing.

    Cheers

    Hi.

Like Altern says there are a few of us who go out during the week around your old haunts. We may be meeting up this Wednesday evening if the weather stays dry, then I am sure there will be a meet up next Sunday aswell.

Just keep an eye out on here, we always post before we do a ride.
