My fashion sense is second to none:

I'm well dressed in both a posh, suit wearing sophisticated way and in a hood wearing, air force 1 popping, blinging way. And yes I do own a weighty gold chain... (if you don't know what Air Force 1's are shame on you!)

So take this in all seriousness when I ask. What the hell is tweed and is it comfortable? Is it some new strain of wacky backy?

By the way I've said it once and I'll say it again. Greg66's Indiana Jones hat and cowboy full length coat (from Unforgiven) was 'gangsta' in epic proportions! All in one go. Chapeau sir!

Don't worry I won't be going to the Mopeth for a good long while....

ok ok, maybe not the tweed. But I will be bringing Gareth along. Here are his handlebars.

All I'm waiting for now are the deep v bright silver rims to get the wheels built up. They've been on order from the US since early Dec and have still not appeared.

I actually have a few Tweed jackets/ flat caps! I sport them when fishing/hunting. Originally the different tweed patterns were designed to blend into the particular colours of vegetation on shooting estates.
  • It is with regret I inform you all that next Friday I will be trapped at a conference dinner dance, doing the whole networking thing while wearing my sister's evening dress because I can't bring myself to spend good money on one of my own that could be spent on bike stuff.

I'm not complaining about this, mind, because I'm just happy to have a job in the current climate...(and hey, it's free food and drink on expenses, not that I can actually get too pished because I have to get up and report on the rest of the conference the next morning). So see you all next time.

  • DDD, don't be silly, come along! I expect you to wear tweed though.

Gareth's handlebars look lovely... I look forward to seeing the rest of him!

I'm not reading 17 pages of this! I take it it wa good?

I have a tweed flat cap that I found! It is surprisingly comfortable. My girlfriend has banned me from getting a deerstalker though...

PS I was trying to find the The Chap article on tweed. I like this though. http://www.tweed.cc/ (apologies if it's been mentioned)
  • So then, people still up for beers this friday? I'll be hobbling, but still able to make it...

Lynton & Lynmouth, on Exmoor. Valley of the rocks at the bottom of the hill. If I'm quiet I'm sure I'll hear a stressed out schollteacher screaming  Nice views but I guess you'll be looking after the teenagers and not the scenery.

    That's a misconception.

They get the person in the village who can read and write to write out their messages for them, and then they send the messages by cart to a Big City, where a Clever Person types them into a computer.

You should see them run around in a panic when the big silver birds go over their villages. It's hilarious!
