If you manage to hang around long enough for me to show up you can have yer Knog back.

Yey! Been wondering where the hell that went! Did I lend it to you, my memories of last friday are vague to say the least.

Yeah, I'd come unclipped and kicked my rear cateye off the seat stay on the way to the pub. Was half joking when I asked if you had a spare back light.

Was much appreciated, it's good to be as road legal as possible when cycling home half-cut :)

How come Kansas is pronounced Kansas but Ar-Kansas is pronounced Ar-Kan-Saw ?

    Just wondered

    And bored

See the Note to this wikipedia article.
Apparently, they decided to standardise the pronunciation, and picked the most historically accurate of the two options. If you can trust the English pronunciation of a Frenchman trying to speak Native American, that is.

Are you even more bored now?

Hey wait a minute! All y'all makes sense as a phrase.

In British English we use you for singular and you for plural. In Arkansaw they use y'all for the plural.

So, if y'all is the plural version of you, then All y'all means 'all of you lot', or something, doesn't it?

laughingboy, Greg and I are in agreement that all y'all is correct! Nice to have further backup, though :)
  • According to Wiki, "y'all" can be singular or plural. All y'all is definitely plural/collective.

    Y'all? singular? That's mental.

But I note that the example given -

    ...a replacement for singular you
Example: "Y'all's a good wife, ya know."
    - suggests that it could just be the result of i]offstage squeaking noises, as the old stereotype is rolled out[/i a misunderstanding of how many wives one is meant to have...

  • NP, I did attend in the end as I didn't get any other people confirming they could go and had to make it a very swift visit so couldn't afford much hanging round! Maybe next week? At least if you go I can have a riding buddy back to Tooting :-D

Shame on the lot of you for discussing this before lunch on a Thursday.

A tension jobby sounds like some form of constipation by the way.
