    @Daniel_B,

I'm not sure you have realised but that thing...
    a) has four (FOUR!!!) wheels
    b) isn't black/acid green/yellow
    c) probably can't be returned within 30 days...

Are you feeling OK? Sure? Is there something you want to talk about? [j/k, ofc]
  • It gets a repaint this week. ;)

Aha, but it's to carry (fully assembled upright) bikes, so is relevant :-)
I can even fit the kona minute in there.
    ford_tourneo_connect_load_3.jpg

And all in a package with a smaller footprint than a Q7.

They do make a rather fetching dark green one (also used on the mustang) but not many out there.
Found one near Aberdeen in an auction, but a 7 hour train ride seemed too much of a gamble for only a chance at securing it, so plumped for a 2hr drive to Huntingdon instead.

This blue is rather nice in the metal, kind of a purple flip to it in person, that pictures can't depict.

Imagine the cost of that! LOT of bodywork!
    Vinyl wrap?

In hindsight could have gone for a black one, and then added yellow detailing

However, we weren't convinced the black, or white come to that, suited it's girth.

Good call, doesn't seem they exist, but black ones do which I could spray up ;-)
Also tempted by a VE10 reg plate.

Two of those reflective Giro republic shoes Daniel B spotted at 60 quid in Merlin. Save my empire vr90s from the winter and the grime and the shyyte. Cheers DB.

No worries dude, will collect mine from work tomorrow, and see what they are like.

What shoe size are you, and what did you go for?

I'm 10, and went for 45, as most reviews I could find seemed to suggest they were a tad small and narrow.

10.5, I went for 46, which is the size of my old shimano rt82 and what I bought the empires in. I have quite wide feet.

i'm beginning to think the avg UK man has by most standard shoe sizing wide feet, i always have to 1 or 1.5 size up and i'm defo not alone

I'm distinctly non-average then. I only know one brand that reliably fits me - Mavic. Tempted to try out Sidi but £££. Giro were close but not quite narrow enough.

A single Shimano cone for the M785 rear hub to replace the badly pitted one, may be I'll be able to get the bearings set correctly when it arrives.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Two of the above I hope.
How did these work out size wise? Ive ordered the 44s hoping they will be ok. Does anyone know how these compare in terms of fit to the Empire SLX? Not bad for £57 with the Merlin rewards discount I had available.

  • In my experience all Giro fit the same in relation to length. But the more "casual" stuff is a tad roomier all round, only a tad mind. I have both the Republic and SLX in 45.

Ever since I got tubulars for the TT bike I've worried about punctures. I finally got one the morning of a race this year and peeling off a tub is not something you want to be doing at stupid o'clock.

So I've been on the lookout for tubeless clinchers and have been repeatedly admiring the Parcours Wheels site but have so far resisted.

However, browsing eBay I came across some (takesdeepbreath) Spin Elite Series RS-FiftyEight Fat Boys. Just what the doctor ordered.

I may be swapping 88/65mm for 58/58mm but I'll have less stress, and the Cervelo will get to wear them sometimes.

Couple of spare inner tubes in 26", and a new lock to finally replace the one that seized earlier in the year.

Didn't want to go to London without 2 d-locks.

Edit - And a set of cheap commuter/leisure flat pedals.
Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

Cheap rim for a refreshed winter wheelset, a bundle of spokes, and one of Torchy's Fluxient Elite S3 lights.

Will compare to the old Philips Saferide 80 in due course!

Prepare to be underwhelmed then give a month or so and try mechanical again. Then you will realise how good Etap really is lol.

Shimano make some nice laced XC 500 shoes... 99 quid or so that's what I would get

Mine arrived and look and fit great.

Fitted the cleats and there was no engagement at all let along tight engagement.

Cut the walking pads as others have also done and the cleats engage but with no float.

Went for a ride and had discomfort in my left foot due to lack of float so guess my only option is to shim the cleat. I was aware if the issue before I bought them but I have to say I find it odd one of the biggest shoe manufacturers sells two bolt shoes that don’t fit shimano pedals. Surely Giro should state this rather than relying on reviews and forums to find this out!

The issue was known 2/3 years ago and never resolved... these days I tend to prioritise practicality over style... I think the Shimano above tick both boxes.
Shame you cut the walking pad, now I guess you can't return them...
