I certainly don't need to learn any unnecessary engineering.

I've tried to summarise the basic operating principles of a spoked wheel in this short article

    https://whosatthewheel.com/2017/11/12/t ... -dynamics/

I think I’ve asked this before and assume it’s in the other hand built wheel thread but how do you calculate spoke length and how do you know what pattern and what spokes to use?

It's all in Gerd Schraner's book, just get a copy

Does it cover tubeless rims with no spoke holes?

Such as? The only ones I am aware of are Mavic XM 819, which no longer exist... anyway, the principle to measure ERD is the same, you just need to use the Mavic supplied Fore cups

I toyed with the idea of entering the Shelsley Walsh HC open the following week, but then I'd have to train for hill climb, which is unpleasant at best and it seems a lot of effort for a 4 minute race...
I think I will pass and go there two weeks later for the National HC instead, spectating and eating bacon butties without the need for training, seems a lot more civilised...

Like your style! No motor scanners, and that thing on the back is the, ummm, latest aero hydration system.
That noise? Ah just me humming, it helps me pedal.

@Ugo, I haven't actually bought one (that box would be way too big for a folder), NO popped a cross into the box, and Harry Maguire like, I decided to head it home.

Be prepared to find them disconcertingly soft for a while, just until you get used to them. But dont try to combat that by running the same pressures that you would on 23's, otherwise whats the point...

My current favourite gloves - reduced to £12.80 at Wiggle so bought me a 2nd pair..and some MucOff Matt Detailer for the Solace and CR1.
EDIT: the muc off detailer arrived today (only ordered from Wiggle last night so impressive delivery via Collect+). Works wonders on my matt frames...

    Damn the Evans sale:

    sportful-bodyfit-pro-classics-short-sleeve-jersey-black-white-_EV.jpg
    Sportful-_Body_Fit-_Pro-_LTD-_Bib-_Shorts-_Internal-_Black-_White-_SS18-11.jpg
Ideally wanted the flouro versions (the jersey can be had in a nice grey and flouro) but were both either way more expensive or unavailable so, as most of my existing kit has some flouro, I thought I'd go for a change. Looking forward to the slightly warmer classics jersey for later in the year, and I get on well with the TC Pro pad in the shorts. Also used 10% BC discount code so about £90 for the outfit...not bad when list was over £205 :)

EDIT: I think these are both going back :( Bibs are slightly too long for me and the jersey is a touch too tight over the shoulders. Weirdly the "peach faced" insulating fabric only appears on the chest panels, not the shoulders which are almost see-through when pulled taught. I'd have thought it'd be nice to have warmer material over the chest and shoulders? Never mind...

This ebay bargain turned up today, and got it's first use on particularly blustery ride out this afternoon. Works really well, completely mesh back and packs up to practically nothing. Nice.

They look like a UK company so not sure how they can do that under distance selling regs. Its not a custom built item for you, which is the only reason I am aware of for shops to refuse your right to cancel under DSR. They might be able to limit you to 7 days rather than there normal 30 but thats it as far as I can see.
Distance Selling Regulations returns apply to most products, but there are some goods you can't return if you simply change your mind, including:

CDs, DVDs or software if you've broken the seal on the wrapping
perishable and other items that deteriorate rapidly, such as food and flowers
    tailor-made or personalised goods
    underwear and earrings.
  • A load more Spexcel stuff from AliExpress. This time for autumn and winter. I’ll probably need it by the time it arrives!

I’ve been wearing their shorts a lot this summer, and like them a lot (especially for the price).

    Very nice PJ!

My only (personal) issue with the De Rosa bikes is the red heart on the frame, I really don't like red on any frame - well except my langster, but aside from that, for me, red is out!
Both of those bikes are lush though, nice pairing.

My two best bikes are now also black and yellow 8)

Ah Daniel, I’ve taken a bit of stick from a few about the red heart, but the De Rosa was the first of two bikes I said I’d have in the stable at some stage.

    A Cervélo being the other.....

Looking forward to this one arriving- always a bit of apprehension ordering a bike online having never seen one in the flesh so to speak

    Pics to follow

2nd hand (don't seem to make them anymore) one of these in 110mm length for the CR1, to in theory swap out instead of an identical model, but 90mm variant.

    New bike!!!!

    Vitus-Zenium-SL-VR-105-2018-Disc-Road-Bike-Internal-Silver-Grey-2018.jpg

Getting it on CTW so I'm hoping that it's reserved from getting the quote, it doesn't make it clear online. Fingers crossed I get the voucher sharpish.

Not sure whether to keep the hack as a spare, sell it off as parts or turn it into a full time cx bike.

Still can't believe this bike is £200* cheaper on Wiggle than Chain reaction, hope it meets your expectations!

    * Looks like CRC have now changed prices since earlier, but still more expensive than Wiggle.
