Oops, bit of a wiggle splurge
wearing out some bib shorts, like the cheaper DHB ones but spent a little more on these ones given the great reviews:

(black - I'm not a total exhibitionist)
these shoes look ideal for my bike-train-bike commute (good to walk in but have a stiff sole and ratchet closure) and my summer shoes are getting a bit tatty (pearl izumi x-alp shoes)

oh and some SPD cleats because my old shoes still have some life in them...
and these seemed a bargain and might be handy to stuff in my panier for that occasional day when the heavens open just before I head home (DHB event waterproof shorts)

biondino wrote:lost_in_thought wrote:I've just looked at this and been sitting on the bike thinking about it, and the conclusion I drew is that you'd have to really roll your hand forward to brake and it might put a lot of pressure on your wrist, especially if you were braking hard.
Saying that, if you really angled your bars up like bullhorns, or indeed got bullhorns, you'd be fine - this is basically where the brakes are on most of the bullhorns I've seen, as a bar plug/end brake.
However, everyone's different and you hated my beloved campy ergopowers so you might be fine!
Well, the idea is the brakes would be placed exactly in the right position for no hand movement or rolling at all, or minimal with no discomfort at the very least. I do already have those bars (or a very similar one) and think they're pretty so I'd rather not change them. I think the hard bit might be fitting the clamp on before the bars curve downwards and yet have enough room to comfortably sit my hands. I might do some experimenting with my current brake lever.
Good plan - it was because of the downward sweep of the bars that I thought you might end up with an uncomfortable position, particularly when braking hard, but I guess you can also adjust the travel on the lever and that sort of thing...
Oh and a 14t Miche fixed sprocket and lockring:
The lockring is included in the one I got!0 -
I just two pairs of these: Speg 3/4 length shorts
They are fantastic, infact all the items from this website are amazing! Even more so when you consider the price!Food Chain number = 4

Something I've been looking for for a while now....
A wine-bottle holder for my bike. I'm amazed there are so few of these about. It'll save me from riding home from the shop with a bottle between my fore-finger and handlebars, and help me to work up a thirst.
This is what cycling should be like. Happy days.0 -
Gear cables for the Dolan hopefully now it will stop auto shifting grrrr and always the wrong bleeding way.
Plus a Knog rear light I find it helps if drivers can see you in the evening.Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

cheap helmet as the charity ride and lot of sportives require you to wear them, so under £20 as thats it's only expected use, had a choice of blue or red as i have a red bike...
it seems to be as comftable as one could hope.0 -
Cycle to work scheme - blew the full grand:
Specialized Tricross Singlecross 2009
Shimano SPD's
Hope vision 2 light
Deuter Race x rucksack
'Pro' Tool kit
Topeak multi tool
Shimano anti seize
GT85
Mudguards
2 x Scwalbe Marathon tyresAnyone else ride a Schwinn?...0 -
Oh yeah, my platinum discount at Wiggle has risen to 12%!
Shame everything there has got so expensive and their sale stock is next to non-existent...0 -
Mine too - picked up some more bib shorts so the current Briko ones don't get washed so often.0
-
Ooh, Descente bibshorts half price (down from £130 to £65). Could they be the ones I need to fill my "one expensive and highest quality pair of bibshorts" for the two 90+ mile rides I have planed in the next 6 weeks? I was looking at buying Rapha...
Now, what size - their sizing guide make L look exactly right but I know with DHB I need XL despite their sizing guide telling me L would be too big for me...0 -
Dammit, it worked, I ordered a pair of black/red XL Descente bibshorts... And some black Castelli mitts for good measure0

biondino wrote:I didn't just buy anything, but I used my allen keys and wrench set to fix my fixie brake AND IT WORKED! Go me! I had to slightly loosen the adjusting nut (where the caliper joins the frame) to free the spring which was being impeded. It now works like a dream!
The pink saddle is on the Bob Jackson. It will look awesome when the pink bar tape is on it too, but I want to be sure what brake lever solution I want before putting the tape on. My current bright idea is to put a lever on the drop levers just before a hood would be if I had hood - let me see if I can demonstrate...
The lever is directly underneath the bit of the bar it's attached to:
Does this work?
I reckon it would work better with the lever flipped around, so it points forwards. Not climber, not sprinter, not rouleur0 -
I've got a new chainset coming for my Tricross as I've managed to strip the thread in the chainset side when I swapped the pedals on friday, something I've done numerous times in the past and not had a problem with till last week. Looks like the workboots will stay in work and SPDs will be my pedals/shoes of choice now.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

Ooh get me big spender!

I've got through most of the things in my box. Loved the choc-orange protein bar. Wasn't so keen on the choc recovery drink but I've got two big tubs of the vanilla which I like. Will be buying more zipvit stuff.0 -

I've only tried the recovery drink, I didn't think it was too bad but my legs didn't ache half as much today as they normally do. could be in my head though.

I bought an 80's sweat band from JJB but it's a bit thick under my helmet, I'm going to buy a girls hair band from boots or somewhere and try thatSaracen Tenet 3 - 2015 - Dead - Replaced with a Hack Frame

I have my zipvit box (as yet untested), and my Castelli/Descente order should arrive tomorrow. Next on list: Knog light for authentic hipster fixie look. I also want a headband of some kind - baldness is good for coolness while riding but bad for rivers of sweat.0
