    Just picked up this:

    http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165643

It's a little wide, I can feel it with my legs on the downstroke, though I suppose that may be a sign my seat ought to go forwards a bit.... but that in turn means the stem needs fiddling...

Whatever, it holds enough stuff :)

As it's a sunny day, I'm going to pop into Prologue on the way home and purchase at least one of these:

I'm thinking a black and a white one.

Brand new bike gear? I can top that....just bought another (fourth!! ) bike. 2nd-hand rather than new though; nothing special but good enough for some fun rides in the local country park and surrounding woodland, and not bad for 70 quid:

    http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... ht=#417021

Needs a bit of work here & there but I enjoy fixing bikes just as much as riding them!

Oh, and also bought some accompanying Time clipless pedals for a very reasonable 15 quid to go with it.

Oh you should see my TT & CX bikes they've been upgraded bling bling bling

I'm upgrading to carbon & ceramic across the board, red bar tape for the Trek & I think a white & red toupe saddle would go very nicely as well.

I need to splash out on some white assos & castelli gear to match.

I didn't just buy anything, but I used my allen keys and wrench set to fix my fixie brake AND IT WORKED! Go me! I had to slightly loosen the adjusting nut (where the caliper joins the frame) to free the spring which was being impeded. It now works like a dream!

The pink saddle is on the Bob Jackson. It will look awesome when the pink bar tape is on it too, but I want to be sure what brake lever solution I want before putting the tape on. My current bright idea is to put a lever on the drop levers just before a hood would be if I had hood - let me see if I can demonstrate...

The lever is directly underneath the bit of the bar it's attached to:

    Does this work?

You'd be surprised how ever thing seems better after you've eased your nuts.

As for the brake, would you not have to put your hand at a slightly odd angle to press the lever?

ADDS well maybe not - but not in a usual position. Maybe you'd get used to it?

Well, I like resting my hands on the curves of the tops so my fingers would be in the right position I think - I'd make fine adjustments to angle and position of the lever so it fitted ergonomically - assuming that's possible, which I guess is the question.

:lol: just twigged you'd drawn it on! Though it was just a v bad bit of photoshopping.

Do you already have the bars? I'm sure you get 'ergo' bars with a straight bit there. No idea where I saw them though...

I've just looked at this and been sitting on the bike thinking about it, and the conclusion I drew is that you'd have to really roll your hand forward to brake and it might put a lot of pressure on your wrist, especially if you were braking hard.

Saying that, if you really angled your bars up like bullhorns, or indeed got bullhorns, you'd be fine - this is basically where the brakes are on most of the bullhorns I've seen, as a bar plug/end brake.

However, everyone's different and you hated my beloved campy ergopowers so you might be fine!

Well, the idea is the brakes would be placed exactly in the right position for no hand movement or rolling at all, or minimal with no discomfort at the very least. I do already have those bars (or a very similar one) and think they're pretty so I'd rather not change them. I think the hard bit might be fitting the clamp on before the bars curve downwards and yet have enough room to comfortably sit my hands. I might do some experimenting with my current brake lever.
