My first pair of shorts came with a pad with velcro and it was slightly better than nothing with ordinary undies on but it would just be in the way if you already had padded shorts on, not that i`ve ever tried it.

I don't think this seems like a great plan... from reading the description it sounds like it's for triathlon types who don't have a pad and this is their only option.

I honestly think it would move around and do your head in, and I don't think fitting velcro into your good shorts would be a great idea either... what's more I don't know if velcro would hold it in place well enough, and it would be a right pain if it started to annoy you and you had to then extract the pad from your shorts. I'm presuming it's for your 24h race?

It's more an idle thought than a plan. To be honest I'm thinking of removing the Toupé and sticking on the pink abomination for the 24-hr as it's significantly more comfy! At least the Descente shorts seem to have come up trumps in the comfort dept (although the straps on the XL are a wee bit long - not that it matters as the shorts stay in place just fine).

I'm getting a bespoke jersey for the ride, which is ace! It will have our sponsors on it and be in AFC Wimbledon colours (the team name is Vélo and Blue, which should give them away) with my initials on the chest :)

The other day I was so impressed by Linds's chain cleaning tool (a Park one) that I want to get one myself. But can anyone explain to me what the tool end of this brush is for?

Getting rid of crap from between your sprockets. Use your imagination tho' and I reckon you could find all sorts of other uses.

Cool! I like a good jersey I do...

Hurrah for Descente shorts! My campag bodyshorts are v comfy... better, in fact, than the stupid assos ones.

There was a discussion about these a while ago... they'll go well with your fancy saddle!

    .

Just received them this morning , very impressed :)

The top is great, very useful zipped rear pocket for keys/mobile/money .

The bib shorts are made from a thinner material (ClimaLite® fabric) than your standard lycra so it will be very cool in the summer (if we ever get one) or on long rides, it’s also very comfortable, the material doesn't seem as if it will be as durable as full lycra shorts, but time will tell.

The pad is quite thick, it’s contoured to an average standard and does enhance the crotch area but not as much as aldi’s gear … thank f*** . !!

I was going to try them out on my commute this afternoon, but it's p issing down, so I'll probably take my mtb in and wear full waterproofs :?

God yeah the aldi shorts are like wonderpants, they lift my junk up and define the outline, not overly keen on wearing them to the office, but I do, for the ladies you understand

Edit: Don't be a girl! Shorts, jersey and armwarmers for me today - I was still a bit warm.

Having decided not to switch to road shoes (Thanks to all who commented in that thread by the way - very helpful) I got myself some fancy new power rangers gear, to replace my 5 year old low-end Shimanos:

    14511142.jpg

SIDI Dragon 2 Carbon, Midnight Blue. Totally over the top but that's me ;-) They feel great but not had a chance to ride them yet!

Also got these to push on:

MXR, cheapest ones to try them out. And some of the Crank Bros. shields to protect my fancy new carbon soles...
    ... and no idea ...

I think aldi/lidl gear is really over-rated, there's plenty of cheap branded bike stuff that's better quality and doesn't scare small children.

Yep, the rains gone and it's warmer ... t-shirt and baggies on my mtb :)

Of course , on my way home tonight it will be snowing

How about a removable DISPOSABLE chamois - with elasticated legs.

Imagine how much inert blue liquid they could soak up!

This could start a new craze among roadies - kind of embarrassing when you have a crash and they have to cut the shorts off you...

The company I work for has had a company design custom cycle gear for the employees. I'm going to order 2 short sleeve shirts but I'm currently debating the merits of a soft shell jacket. Pity is they'll take 6 weeks to be made.

it feels like pretty good gear from the test samples I tried on.
