Pair of folding Durano Pluses in 700x25. £26 each at halfrauds, less 20% C2W user discount, less 8% pre-paid voucher.

    Plus topcashback at 3%.

That'll hopefully mean about £18.60 a tyre. Not too bad, and hopefully the old one will get replaced under warranty so i'll remain with 2 spare.
Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

Sounds like you will be exploring "large" tyres on your Cube before I get around to trying my 32mm Houffalize for clearance, it's still on my list of things to try, but recent weeks have very much been a case of only doing things that have to be done (SAD has well and truly got me under its spell currently).

    From CRC:
1 x roll WTB tubeless rim tape
2 x WTB Exposure tubeless 32mm "gravel" tyres in 32mm. £24 each. Slick centre tread with minor side nobblies for light off-road, but ok to run @ 45 psi so should make the Crosslight run a little smoother than the current 28mm Duranos.

Previously got on well with WTB Crosswolf TCS tyres so hoping these will be similarly easy to fit, though these will be going on Pro-lite Revo disc rims which are notoriously difficult to get tyres on, so wish me luck!

Damn, just remembered I'd forgotten to get the tubeless valves as the same time! :(

I bought this, will be a while before it comes.

I've got this exact bike, mostly for commuting but also a bit of cross. The tyres roll surprisingly well on tarmac.

I’ve mentioned it on the “owners” thread, but the 30mm Schwalbes actually come up narrower than the 28mm Continental GP4000s I had on there, there’s tons of clearance.
  • Bought a Focus Mares commuter, should be here in time for when I start commuting again next month.
Just need to thin out the stable a bit to make room for it!

Is that the version with mechanical Shimano disc brakes or have they updated it?

Yeah, they were pretty good. But the G-One are better, so swapped out to those for now. Great bike though, really impressed.

Mechanical discs still. Surely better than my cantilevers on my old bike I hope!
I’ll inevitably be upgrading to a 1x drivetrain at some point, so will look into hydraulic brakes then.

New Winter/Spring kicks from Sigma Sport with extra 10% off code (FEB10) - Mavic Cosmic Elite Vision CM Road Shoes. Weatherproof / thermal upper, allround reflective material (a la the Giro SLX) but stealth black during the day with yellow highlights. Wish I'd seen these in November! Should be great for spring and cooler evening rides...

A TraceR ReAKT as the old TraceR died on me last night, thought it was a flat battery but still no good after a decent charge and no expectations on warranty as it's had a good nearly 3 year daily use.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Lusso Repel Extreme for £75, as I wrecked my Mortirolo falling off the other week. It looks very orange, but that seems a good price for a well reviewed jacket.

It's very very good for cold. My advice for next week, quite seriously, is buy balaclavas.

Amazfit arrived today, the mobile app is a bit confusing and documentation is about zero but otherwise not a bad bit of tech. HRM is close to 40% lower than my actual which is annoying because that's why i bought this device, i'll manage
Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.

First ride in these today. Surprisingly effective at keeping feet warm at -3 degrees with a pair of PX thicky merino socks. Went up 0.5 size from my old Mavic Road Pros and they're a great fit. Nice...

Got a Mavic Aksium wheelset yesterday, to replace the stock wheels on a 2016 Giant Defy 2 with suspect bearings & freehub. Will act as commuter wheelset. It's all ready to ride, but haven't tested them yet.

Hope your experience is better than mine. I found the freehub to be made of some sort of soft cheese (not even as hard as cheddar)

    Giro Empire SLX £129.
    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/giro-empire-slx-road-shoe-2016/

Probably that NRA connection bringing them down

Edit, this should have been in the bargain thread not this one. I've not bought them.

    Great choice!
My first pair of carbon shoes. Ridiculously light and live up to comfort expectations of lace up shoes. Combined very well with speedplay pedals if that's your thing.
  • They are superb. I'd spring for some but I'd be giving money to the NRA. (They're out of my size)

If they didn't have the orange bit on the green ones, I'd give a pair a go.
