    £21 from Planet X, absolute bargain :)

Very tempted at that price...a steal. I now have 3, though 2 are the flow version, and also have the Superflow Endurance. Doesn't seem to specify whether small or large sizes?

Plus Torq rhubarb and custard gels, down to a quid each!

The Scudo gloves are going back to Merlin. Went for my normal Castelli glove size (medium) but no way I was going to get them on without ripping the stitching. Very light with a windproof back, look great, but reckon another Castelli "Cinderella fit" item. Shame

The Lusso Dryline base layer on the other hand is very good in use, and a great fit in medium!

Yeah, will have to see what size it is when it arrives. At that price it was worth a punt!

Was just wondering today if there was anyway to purchase one of these - then a BC e-mail rocked up with details :D
Just hoping size 2 will be ok, as by the guide a size 1 would have been more likely - not sure if they sold out, or never made one.
Never bought Kalas before - anyone know how they size up?
£7 postage was a bit unexpected - free if you spend over a ton it turns out.

An interesting purchase - IMHO anyway...

Bought these off a well know global seller who is also a river through their global shipping programme which I had never tried. They are 50mm Carbon Tubulars built on Novatec hubs with Taiwanese??? rims.. I've an older set of Vuelta from when they were 'made' in Italy (also with Novatec hubs but carbon/alloy clincher rims.)

    timthumb-412.jpg

Price including shipping and import duties was just over £300. I had a discussion with the retailer about the freehub and they assured me that the wheels came with both Shimano and Campag. So I ordered them - spare freehub is probably worth £30... When they turned up, only the Shimano freehub so after a quick discussion with the retailer, £70 refund on its way to me. So if I remove shipping and import duty, the pair of wheels cost me £100. Sold a set of old Spin tri-spokes on the 'bay to fund these wheels (and made £250 on the wheels so I'm up on the overall deal. Next bit of good news is that the old Vuelta's are going on a Dura Ace bike and the new Vuelta's on a Record bike and the freehubs are interchangeable so I've swapped them across. All in all a good deal I hope (by the way, the wheels are now out of stock but the re-stock price is £1000 on the retailer's web site.... Though I doubt they will get any more as they are no longer in production.

    Sorry for the boring post...

Halo Clickster single speed freewheel, £35 from Hargroves. Decided I'm going to spruce up the Singlecross
rather than sell it. New flared bars and tape to go on too, ready for winter.

Sadly from what SP has posted, I fear it will be too big for me, currently somewhere between 63 & 64kg :-(

The novatec hubs are supposed to be compatible with shimano & campy not two different freehubs. Retailer was telling truth ;)

The novatec hubs are supposed to be compatible with shimano & campy not two different freehubs. Retailer was telling truth ;)

Well the freehubs looked very different - a different number of splines on each. I believe they were the Novatec Type A freehub and this is from the Cycle Clinic web site:

Novatec freehubs explained. All 11 speed shimano/sram freehub bodies come with a 1.85mm spacer to allow the use of 8/9/10 speed shimano/sram cassettes
notes on fitting. the end caps supplied only work with certain novatec hubs not all and not powertap hubs. If you are fitting the freehub to a power tap hub you must replace the outer seal on the supplied freehub with the one from your old powertap freehub due to the end cap differences.

    Type A freehubs come in three forms and all run on a 12mm axle, have two 6901 bearing/3pawls;

    Type A 8/9/10 speed Shimano/SRAM
Type A 8/910/11 speed shimano/SRAM ABG freehub (anti bite guard a steel strip on one of the splines to stop serious notching)
Type A 9/10/11 speed campagnolo freehubs

    These freehub's are compatible with;

    Ambrosio Zenith hubs
    Pro-lite Merano A25W and Verona A25W
    Novatec F172SB/F272 SB
    Noavtec D352SB
    Novatec F162SB/F262SB
    Novatec F372/F472SB
    Novatec D352/D452SB
    Novatec F282/F382 CB and SB
    Novatec DS12SB
    Novatec FS12/FS22 CB and SB
    Novatec D812SB
    Novatec D042SB
    Novatec F062SB
Old Power tap hubs with a 12mm diameter axle (take your freehub off and measure)
Novatec wheels using an alloy freehub (2 cartridge bearings) with a 12mm bearing ID

So the hub takes either but the freehub is different as is the end lock nut.

Don't normally mind a noisy freehub, though hope it's not as loud as the DT Swiss hub on my Synchros wheels on the Solace. That is loud..

Three of these for a whisker over £100 combined, instead of the £120 EACH they are meant to cost.

    Yes, they look revolting.

BUT, they are merely for the turbo (Would not dream of wearing them in public), and will allow me to get shot of some now long in the tooth shorts I am still hanging on to.

Reviews are in the main excellent, and I have one Cannondale branded Sugoi jersey that seems very good quality, so hoping for good things from these.

I agree, but the pad is meant to be amazing - I can't imagine anyone wearing them out in public.

Having said that, my club has a novelty New Years day TT - so perhaps these shorts, on the Kona Minute would make a good pairing

They arrived, and on first impressions are bloody good, but just as, if not more hideous, than in the pictures.

The pad feels VERY good and firm, and the fit is race fit - the small I can squeeze myself into (Material is not that giving) and I am 63kg\5ft 10.
I would not say they are £120 shorts, but would suggest they are easily as good as most £80 shorts out there, so if you do see them for £33, and either are brave enough to wear them out and about, OR want some top quality turbo shorts, I would heartily recommend them - will update once they have been through a turbo session - likely tomorrow or Friday.

Selle Italia Qbik saddle. Bargain at £12.95.

I've had one on the Endurace since I got it two years go and I've never had and problems with it. It's a comfortable perch so I thought I'd get one for the Inflite to replace the Gel Flite Flow that's on there now.

I'm hoping this doesn't follow the historic trend of black versions being less comfortable than the white version.

An acid green Endura Pro-SL Classic (the older version, IIRC) for £80 (£89.90-£10 voucher) from CRC:
    maillot-endura-fs260-pro-sl-classics-verde-fluor.jpg

I hope it'll cover the 10-15 degree range I so despise. Too cold for my short sleeve stuff, but too warm for the Perfetto. I've got my reservations with the size, too. My perfetto is M and fits great, other than the tail is a tad narrow for my hips. We'll see...
  • Some new wheels -

300 grams lighter, 2.5mm wider and a bit more aero than my current ones.

Just need the cassette, discs and tubeless tyres to go with them.

That should do it, it looks great, but to be honest I don't think that range is hard to cover, at least in my experience.

The worst range for me is the 8C to 12C with some chilly wind. A bit too cold for the autumn stuff like the above and a bit too warm for my winter jackets.

The problem is I don't really have autumn clothing, and hoped this would help. Past tense. It was delivered this morning to my joy but, as feared, the cut is far from what I need. Shoulder width seems about right, but it's far too loose on the tummy, and doesn't look at all tight when on a sitting position. So back to CRC it goes :-(

I'll possibly go for a Perfetto light 2, and hint Mrs. Haggis about arm warmers for Xmas.
