Oh, for goodness sake, do TRY to keep up, Chasey.

The R5 frameset is 3300. So the finishing kit would have been made out of twigs and it would have had no wheels.

The R3 frameset is 2300 and not available until Jan. And the stack is higher than the R3SL but the reach is shorter and the chain stays are longer. So that’s a ginger stepchild, right there.

There was only one logical choice in the end.

Sure, but I kinda meant looking beyond bike frames made for dentists...

Ok, Chasey, that's enough from you, and stand up when you're being spoken to.

    Oh. You *are* standing up.

    I see.

So a quick google brings up the canyon aeroroad frameset at £2139.

Appreciate that might be a bit racey for you, but that's at the pricey end of their frames.

And you'd still look like a dentist on it so everyone wins.

But I have an aero road bike: the SLC-SL. And I mean *I* have it. Not some shit-eating thief.

The stolen bike was my lightweight climbing machine. With lower profile rims.

Now be a good elf and pass the doughnuts, would you?

Ah, well should go for the canynon CF SLX frame for £1849, and I bet it's lighter!
  • ... the canynon CF SLX frame ...
Is that a a Chinese knock-off? Like Kelvin Cline?

Shame you're not a size 51. Wife relegated her virtually unused 2012 R3 to turbo duty, found it too relaxed, preferred her Addict, bought another Addict as a winter bike.

I fcuking LOVE these these first world problems us hard working ordinary cyclists have.

Does she ever goes through the 50s in her pockets, find a stray 20 that sneaked in there by mistake, and say "yuck!" and throw it away.

Yeah, me too. All the time.

Always intended on selling it, unfortunately never got round to it after a bad accident which stopped her racing, was too nice a bike to commute on, she didn't want it to get nicked after all. Seeing how much people are prepared to pay for similar era Cervelos maybe we should get it up on the Classified.

Decided not to bother trying the winter jacket - and due to one days hesitation missed out on this:
    OAJ01SSYBL-product-h117-01_SMALL

    Have ordered these:
    PTK01XXDGN-product-h217-01_SMALL
    BSK05RGYEL-product-h217-01_SMALL

And could not resist one of these for my daughter, to match her mum - and for £21, not too bad:
    CKR01XXMUL-product-h117-1_SMALL

    Thankyou TwoTwoBenny for the code!

Also thought I would try one of these for size, and to see how thick it is - have the jersey and gilet, and love the styling, fit and materials used.

Have my eye on the jacket too, but only available at full whack for £160 at the mo, which is too much.

Castelli Sorpassos in black, medium. Much better fit than the large pair I bought earlier in the week, so those are going back to CRC. Fit of the medium Sorpasso's seems to be the equivalent of a large in my Sportful R&D bibtights, in case that comparison is helpful to anyone.

Just got a brand new orange Frog 55 for Haggis Jr.
    frog55orange.jpg?maxheight=400
Was looking for a 2nd hand one, but missed my opportunity 3 weeks ago, and his birthday is coming soon. Oh, well, Tiny Haggis will get to use it someday. He's got the bike bug already, and had a hard time getting him from the shop's balance bike. I guess Santa's life was made that bit easier.

Some kudos for the reliably excellent Prendas...

I recently had an email from them asking me to participate in a short (5 question) survey. I thought I may as well reply, given the excellent service I've had from them in the past.

Yesterday, they emailed a £5 voucher code by way of thanks. No minimum spend.

I used the code to order a pair of their winter socks. Usually £7.95 so cost me £2.95 with the code as it's free postage.

Like clockwork, the package turned up today, within 24 hours of me placing the order. Not only that, they'd put an extra pair of socks in!! 2 pairs for 3 quid then.

Prendas - the gold standard for online cycling retailers.
  • Prendas don't actually use the Royal Mail. They use Star Trek beaming technology and time freezing to ensure that they deliver 24 hours later every time.

Presumably if you pay extra for guaranteed next day delivery they get the Delorean out and deliver it yesterday.

Their winter thermolite socks are fantastic, I have a few pairs and wear them even when not cycling. Really comfortable and warm.

Went to a cyclocross event this weekend and bought some socks from this company who had a stall there.
i don't normally buy brightly coloured socks but they're very nice so got a deal on 3 pairs.

I was going to plump for some new Vittoria Paves but Wiggle have since put their prices up. Which Clement Strada's did you go for? LGG or Open?

  • Somewhat less expensive and swish than Greg’s bike build, bought some tyres.

    marathon_plus_cut_neu.jpg

Since my new commute to work though a decent bike path is liberally peppered with broken glass, and these well do the job!

I have mistakenly bought these rather than above!

    _detail_MarathonPlusTour-Cut.jpg

They seem to roll as well, and hopefully will give better grip on some of the gravelly tracks/broken tarmac that my new commute has so this mistake is probably no bad thing, since standard Marathons tread does let go on gravelly etc sort of thing.

Given them spin around Bushy Park and they seem to roll as well as the knobblie they replaced, they are curved rather square so the bike feels different handling wise.

Castelli LW bib tights - 17% off at Wiggle at the mo. REALLY comfy - I think I prefer them to my beloved Sorpassos and they should have greater operating range for me.

So I went ahead and bought the Trelock LS 950:

    https://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/tre ... ight-40233

    245822_2287840.jpg

It's bright. Very bright. And I love the fact that it doesn't dazzle people coming the other way. I also love the fact that it's got a battery indicator so I can see how long I've got before it needs a re-charge. I also like the fact that it can be turned down in traffic to a lower level.

    But......

The beam is so well shaped, with so little side spillage that it lights the road perfectly for a long distance, but doesn't light anything else. You can't see when deer are about to cross the road in Richmond Park until they're right next to you.

It's like driving a car with a dipped beam on a country road. You can see very well, but you can't see anything around you until you switch to full beam. But then you don't want to be driving around with full beam the whole time, as you'll dazzle people coming the other way.

I might have to get an auxiliary anti social light for my full beam use too, remembering to turn it off when someone's coming the other way.
