Gabba is not for proper grim, Espresso is!
You can ride in Gabba up to 15 degrees quite comfortably, i reckon.

Gabbas do not fit me - just received a Gabba 2 in small, and it's fine on the waist, and the shoulders, but I have gaping width around the chest - very weird.

I would have thought I am a fairly generic cyclist as well - ie skinny arms and upper half.

£150 down to £52 - seems to have pretty good reviews.

This just arrived - bloody hell, what a bit of kit, not massively for cycling, but that wasn't why I bought it - oozes quality, and has primaloft throughout, unlike the prettier Castelli.
Snug hood, and critically, and useful for me, are 3 exterior zipped pockets, and 2 internal pockets - though no zips on them.
Only cost me £52, and it's a total bargain.

The Castelli is also so lovely though, that sadly both are going to have to stay :?

But if you are after a jacket for casual winter bike rides, or hiking, I reckon that you would not go far wrong to look at the Specialized 686 X Specialized Tech Insulator.

  • Just had to pop to the lbs for a set of cleats, due to half of the right side one coming away with my shoe when I unclipped

Hi Ap, apologies, Evans had one in small, in the yellow for £60, and I get discount through work.

They still seem to be fairly widely on offer for £90, which is still a decent price for a cracking bit of kit, I would be prepared to pay that.

@mamil314, well I have lost a fair chunk of weight, probably have something around a 35" chest I reckon.

  • 1973 Gios Torino Frameset for the missus, give me something to do over the winter. It would have been for me but a tad too small.
    Damn my long legs
  • Topeak 6 litre backloader seat post bag thing to replace my backpack. 2 weeks in, like it. Trickier to pack than a 6L backpack, but no more sweaty back for me. And a Madison roubaix jersey. Nice this morning with the temp at about 10c, and only £25 from Evans.

After some time buying cheap Chinese LED lights and convincing myself that because it has more LEDs and more lumens, it must be good, yesterday I ordered a 'proper' light for trail riding. I also broke my Hope duck - a brand I admire but have never felt invested enough in cycling to invest in. Well now I have, and a Hope R4+ Vision front light with 4 cell battery pack is inbound. This thing'd better be the engineering masterpiece the reviews say!

Was in Barcelona recently so had to buy a momento of the trip and visit Tomas Domingo and came away with one of their jersies. Can't see many of them being worn in UK.

45mm SKS Bluemels from Halfords, to winterise the Crosslight disc. £17.99 with BC discount, and delivery to local store in time for the weekend. These also purport to have the flaps front and back, whereas as the one's being sold by CRC (also at £17.99) don't. We'll see how accurate the product description is when I collect on Friday night.

So returned the FSA SL-K seatpost and got this Rose RC-170 FlexCarbon instead:

£66 with the voucher I had. 198 gr for the 31.6mm version, flexes a fair amount like the Canyon and Spesh posts.

Also some Shimano J02A Disc brake pads for my RS785 disc brakes on my Jamis.

    Both from Rose.

EDIT: yep these are the Matt black versions with front and rear mudflaps. 45mm so pack says they're good for up to 38mm tyres. Might work with my hyper Voyagers in that case. Bargain at 17.99....well done Halfords

  • Hope RX4 brake caliper for the Pinnacle.

Sick of the crappy Shimano M785 on the rear leaking oil all over the pads so they squeal like a cheerleader in a horror movie every time I haven't cleaned them that day. Been bled three times, new pads twice, cleaned incessantly but still have very little grab and oh god, that noise!

Amazingly, the front seems absolutely fine - no problems at all. Weird.
Fitted the new rear brake yesterday ahead of a sportive today. Holy crap, what a difference! Rear brake is now exactly what a disc brake should be.

Seriously considering doing the front too. Night and day!

my advise would be keep that in your pocket not attached to the bike if you want it to work when you need it
