Honestly you won't be disappointed. I've got a fancy pants CNC Lezyne one which looks and feels lovely but I only ever use it for opening beers now. The Decathlon seems so bloody sensible now someone's invented it.Sometimes parts break. Sometimes you crash. Sometimes it’s your fault.0 -

Where did you source yours from gabriel and for how much?
See Bike Discount have it for £171.
From Bike Discount. As we have an Islabikes, I had to buy the quick release adapter too, which is an extra £17 or so.
Just wanted to say a HUGE thankyou to Gabriel for posting this up - it's bloomin awesome, really well put together, and my nearly 4 year old loves it - gives us another mode of taking her to school now, as my gf tends to ride the Kona to work, so I can drop my daughter off with this, and my gf can pick her up on the Kona - additionally when she is more confident and stable riding on her own, I'll be able to lock the bike up at school after towing her there (It's pretty uphill so I think it will be a while before she can ride there by herself), then mum can ride down from work to meet her and cycle home with her.
Great fast service from Bike Discount too.
Only downside was the courier, who left it at the back gate, but didn't deem it necessary to put a note through the door.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

No worries Daniel, happy to have helped with this. We are also using it with our 4 year old, mainly for long recreational rides, she will ride for a couple of miles, I will pull for 4 or 5. As you also say it is great in hilly areas and I find it attaching it on and off a doddle after a few times doing it. It is not cheap but it is a great piece of kit!x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

Hi Gabriel - yes neglected to add that another aim is to go for longer rides out in the country, and tow her on the more dangerous roads, and then allow her to ride herself on the quieter ones an and when she becomes tired - until she becomes more steady and confident.
She is already declaring she wants to ride on the road :-)

It is great for that, although it has the disadvantage that if they get too used to it she might get lazy
Yes, a lot of people have asked me what it is and where I got it from. It has definitely got lots of admirers.

For my birthday, which was yesterday I havew treated myself to some Mavic Cosmic Carbone 40 Elites from Cycle Surgery. They were £675 plus 5% quidco, which tracked at £35. So £640 including tyres.
I had told myself a few times that I wouldn't get carbon fibre wheels, but these seemed like too good a deal, and I live in the fenlands of Cambridgeshire, so these should be good, I hope. Anyway at that price, if I change my mind I am sure I can recoup all if not most of the cost.
My wife and 2 girls also got me this Morvelo t-shirt!

Very nice on both counts, and Happy Birthday!
In other news, all my Rapha stuff is going back.
The glasses are too big for my noggin, the mitts are ok, but do not seem like £60 or even £45 worth - £25 perhaps, but still not that taken with them.
The brevet jersey has a funny fit, just a bit loose really, I know it's meant to be more relaxed, but even so.
Oh and the XZ Brazil jersey I ordered is even stranger - I now have a 36" chest, so I can fit into it, but by jove it's tight.
I have cyclists arms, so not big (Hence 66kg) but the sleeves were loose!
So even though a small, had they had one available, would have fitted me slightly better torso wise, the arms would have been flapping around like a big flappy thing - most bizarre.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

- Rapha Pro Team jersey M. Looser than expected but probably keep.
- Castelli 4.1 Free Aero jersey L. After sizing up nice and fitted, not too tight. Light and airey so will get some use this weekend.
- Rivelo Pembridge jersey M. Actually a similar fit to the Rapha jersey on me, i.e. looser. Not really knocked out by the quality so on the fence, though nice understated colourway in grey.
- Rivelo Honister bib shorts M. Seem very nice indeed, excellent for £50, so keeping.
Also got this now starting to run with the dog a bit more. Not much pricier than a Chill Podium bottle on its own, and can use the bidon on the bike too. Pouch gives somehere to keep keys, phone, cash, dog treats on the move :

The Camelbak Delaney waist pack was 19 quid from SportsPursuit (600ml chill podium in flouro included!) Glad you like the Aero jersey, its a nice bit of kit for a great price. I can see I'll get a lot of use from mine now its warming up nicely

^My stuff arrived pretty quick from them, as I guess they had the items in stock. I know with other items they sometimes wait until they get a load of orders before shipping in bulk.
Their item pricing is odd though. Was tempted to return my medium Rivelo Pembridge jersey for a small (and due to a few squiffy seams) but the grey is now back up to 90 quid, though they have the small in black at 39.99, down from 90 quid last week (but really wanted grey!!!).
First ride out in the 4.1 Aero jerssey this afternoon. Well impressed. Garmin said temperature was 29 degrees, but was nice and comfortable in it. rozzer32 wrote:Rapha core bundle. £105 with the discount code. Not bad for a pair of Rapha bibs and jersey. First time I've bought Rapha clothing so interested to get my hands on it. Opted to try Rapha after being less than impressed with the castelli quality over the past few months.
Got round to trying my core stuff on today. Jersey is a good fit but not sure about the bibs. Went for a medium and is a good fit around the waist and the bibs but the leg length seems really long. Pretty much at my knee! Wondering if I should send them back for a small but as the fit is good on the waist it seems strange. Are the core bibs long length or are all Rapha bibs like that?***** Pro Tour Pundit Champion 2020, 2018, 2017 & 2011 *****0 -
My Core bibs in large are also quite long, just skimming the knee. I assumed because I have stumpy legs. Maybe not. Otherwise, I bought a new SRAM 50T chainring, as my chain has started jumping off the chain ring on some rear shifts. I'll also take a link out of the chain when I swap the chainring out, as getting quite a bit of chainslap over bumps.0

I wore my Core bibs (Small) for the first time yesterday for a 50, and was very impressed, although imho the La Passione bibs are marginally superior, both in terms of material, and ever so slightly the pad.
They are long, but I have long legs, so no issue for me, prefer it actually.

They will probably be fine. I'm 5'11, 65kgs, 30 inch waist and they are just right for me.
That being said, I bought a pair of the Wiggins one's in the Christmas sale for turbo use only and the material on those is much, much better than the material in the normal Core bibs. It's a much darker black, and it doesn't feel as 'slick'. The leg grippers are also nicer.0 -
From a week and a bit ago from rosebikes
Xtreme Road wheel set 28"/700C R-490 / Shimano FH-/HB-RS400 x1
Schwalbe Super HP rim tape x1
DT Swiss Double Square brass spoke nipples x3
And having had them turn up, it turns out I ordered 3 x 10 packs of nipples, not three nipples. I was trying for over £100 so the Credit card coverage kicked in.
Would have got some cable end ferrules if I'd realised. Anyone need some spoke nipples?Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

Hopefully I've bagged the last pair of Endura Humvees from Wiggle. Listed as having no liner but as I've already got a pair of liner shorts this isn't an issue and for only £21.50I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

Bit of a cautionary tale for you all - built up a single speed cross bike as a wet commuter, used an on-one doofer from planet x as a chain tensioner:
http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/FSOOSSD/on ... -tensioner
Well, the conventional way of setting it up, using the spring in the doofer was somewhat less than successful. I got about three commutes out of it before the chain started slipping on the back cog. With it pulling the chain downwards there just wasn't enough of the chain wrapped around the cog.
So came up with another plan - cable tie the doofer to the chainstay and run the chain on the other side of it, wrapping more of the chain round the cog. This would have been fine, but on my bike the chain was either too long for this to work, or too short to go round the chainring and cogs.
Ended up buying a half link chain from the LBS near work, thankfully no slippage on the ride home! Chain looks sufficiently sturdy to anchor a cruise liner so ought last a while at least.0 -

Had similar issues with another tensioner but the same basic design as the PX one, tried it with pushing the chain up, pulling the chain down and with more spring tension by moving the spring but all had the same result. The chain jumped on the sprocket.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -
Did you find a solution in the end or just abandon the conversion?
Occurred to me that a conventional rear derailleur preset in the correct position might do the trick, although might need a little more ongoing fettling - I suppose if you had one that was a bit worn out that you didn't have other use for that'd be a good candidate (instead of spending your money on one of these ineffective tensioners...)
Anyway, no slippage on the way home, so time will tell if the cable ties have it. Certainly superficially the chain looks to be in contact with double the amount of the rear cog that it was previously.
Having ridden two different single speed - disk braked bikes I did come to the conclusion that rear puncture repair and chain tensioning was far too much hassle with sliding dropouts so this does at least win on the basis of getting the brake disk aligned.0 -

Sram would tell you no - but I have with very few ill effects. Bear this in mind - it is the outer width of the chain which varies from 5 to6...to 10 to 11speed whereas the pitch (length of link) and the inner width have remained the same at 1/2" and 3/32". Not a lot going on at the crank depends on the outer width of the chain
Zinn has an excellent set of articles on intecompatibility on velonews0 -
It will be fine. Chainsets and rings will work 8/9/10/11 etc.0

Thats useful to know - I had assumed that the inner width would have changed too.
So my old 6750 chainset that I bought new for an old bike and never used due to the bike being written off and replaced with an 11 speed would work?0
