Got hold of the Gore Leg Warmers to see if i stick with them for this winter, I've used them once and apart from startup problems where they were round my knee's they were comfortable and kept me knees lovely and warm.

IMO the best to avoid this is to put the leg/knee warmers before you put your sorts on. That seems to do it for me.

  • I did and they only came down once, bout 5 minutes after i set off, they were fine for the rest of the ride home.

On another note, got more lighting to see me in the dark, the good old Lumipac, they are surprisingly bright

My bottom bracket is the right one, woohoo! According to Wiggle customer service, anyway, who have been excellent and helpful (thank you Toby).

I've just been browsing, as is my wont, Chain Reaction's sale section, and came across a really nice black and white jacket. A bargain, perhaps? Well, no - £440 for Campy's "11 speed thermo" jacket.

Anyone got more money than sense?

An 11 speed jacket, that'll justify the cost then

I've worn mine twice and the elastic has gone on one of the sole openings. I'm unimpressed, but will be sending them back for an exchange rather than a refund.

Ok, wore them home tonight and my feet were absolutely soaking. They just filled up with water after about 20 minutes.

Overall, pretty good :) Feet felt snug and warm, and most importantly their dry. Not 100% dry, but 90% or so !!

I find that the bits that go up your leg aren't as snug (Maybe I've just got skinny legs!) but it didn't seem to let much in so overall I'm happy. Lets just hope they last.

Always been fine for me. Bit too warm for summer, but no issues otherwise.

Trekmates full length bamboo baselayer and it's superb.
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Pair of PRO ultimate winter gloves,
Elite bottle cage and the Planet X is back from fitting in paignton, had a lovely ride back on it. Plus I have bought a bottle cage I get to post a pic of the new bike too. (Because the bottle cage is attached).

Just pulled the trigger on some handbuilt Rigida Chrinas on tiagra hubs from parker. Hurrah hopefully no more weekly hub services for me, stupid ritchey rims.

Also bought some rim tape and a new gatorskin to put on said new hoops.

Yesterdays trip to the LBS resulted in new bearing for the current back wheel as the old ones had flat spots on the drive side - crap seals I tell yus.

Oh don't get me started, frickin ritchey website tells me it's a 12mm allen key so I pop down to Btown cycles and a 12mm doesn't fit, turns out it's only a 10mm  so I get it off but the body they have in stock is wrong so they're ordering me one in so I've got spare wheels. In the meantime to freehub body had a nice 5 hour bath in white spirit followed by a couple of drops of lube down the inside, should see me through the week fingers crossed went for a quick 5 miles over the chase earlier to test it and my new light, which is amazing BTW.

Mmm scotch - it makes me ranty but happy :D

Invested in some armbands for my baggy on the arms Polais Air Defence jacket, they flap around in the slipstream. Did use some elastic lengths stitched together but they have now perished and wanted some new bike stuff and got some reflective velcro straps, couldn't get my head around the slap-wrap type.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Got a pair of Crud Road Mudguards, going to fit them this week.

On the lookout for a half decent rechargeable front light now, any recomendations?

After spending so long deliberating on the purchase last winter that by the time I'd settled on it, it was too late ... I got me a Fenix L2D! Went out for a test run round Sefton Park a couple of nights ago, went in search of the darkest, tree-lined, un-lit, furthest-from-the-lights-of-civilisation tracks I could find, and put the Fenix on turbo mode.

Let's just say I'm looking forward to staying out late this winter :D

Anyone know how long an L2D would last on, say, "high" mode (not turbo) on a pair of 2500mAh NiMH rechargeables? Ta.

I've just got one of these it's brilliant, it's really small rediculously bright and the battery last 3 hours on full power. Full power is only needed for totally unlit riding at high speed.

I have an unlit stretch om my commute that is about 1/3 of a mile long and can happy go 25mph + on low power.

I got mine from bestofferbuy.com it came in about 10 days. Very happy indeed.

EDIT: I forgot to say it's still only £50 from there too. If you want to know how big it is it is almost identical to a lupine tesla.

Unfortunately not you can buy them from geomangear.com as well as other spares. I only didn;t get the light from them because i didn;t wat the extra modes to click through. TBH though I don't think I'd use it helmet mounted on the road, it's really frickin bright!

    Thanks Prawny,

no I wasn't thinking for road use, as you would blind everyone  , but more for off roading potential.

On other forums people have had one on the head one on the bars but it's probably a bit floody for a head lamp, you'd be better of with a joystick or a torch because it will wash out all the trail detail being high up.

Pair of DHB Pro Sunglasses http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/dhb_Pro_Triple_Lens_Sunglasses/5360036778/ which arrived in the post yesterday and got their first outing this morning. Replacements for a more expensive pair of glasses that had the nose piece bitten off by 2yr old son at weekend  Very comfy, great clarity with the clear lenses, and seemingly excellent value for money.
