    where did you get them?

    that seems great value

Yesterday, an Endura Air Defence Jacket and a rather nice Smart Lunar front light.

I'd only popped into the LBS for a gander at their shiny new bikes. I'm sure they know when I've got a bit of cash burning a hole in my pocket.

Very pleased with both, especially the light, however, it didn't pick out the thorn that flattened the back tyre this morning.

So today's purchase was a new inner tube. Rather cheaper, but less fun.

Altura Cropton jacket. £27 at Rutland Cycles.

Cotton T-Shirts dont cut it any more in the freezing cold when its raining outside. When your arms and hands get too cold and numb to change gear or brake, its time for long sleeves...

Thought i'd splash out and got an Exposure Strada light. Now that the evenings are getting dark, i need to be seen. Also i do enjoy night riding all year round so it will get plenty of use.

One pair of the legendary Schwalbe Marathon Plus in 700x25 for Mrs Roastie's bike, and a pair of less horrible mudguards for The Pig. With the mail strike, I expect they will arrive just in time for summer.

+1 got these myself recently, and they are superb, even here in Scotland, still a bit warm though!! They should be great in the depths of winter.

What's the point on having one on your shoe?!

    Have you not seen "Platoon"

You have one on your shoe in case you get your head blown off and your Dog tags get lost. Noob!

Getting your blood group tatooed on your arm is also super ally.

Suggest you don't get you address done at the same time - in case you move or something.

  • I have a budget of @£600 to buy my first commuting bike, needs to be able to take rear panniers. Its about 15miles each way of road and cycle path, but would like to be able to do canal paths and light trail.
I'm 5ft 4inches tall and reasonably fit already, wieghing 9.5stone. This is your chance to do some 3rd party shopping any advice appreciated, no preference as to drop or flat bars.
  • My sister has just bought a Gary Fisher Marlin Disc GS. A little more than you're budget but well worth a look.

What's the battery life like on these little things? Tempted to get some, but the CR2026 battery replacement's can't be economical if they dont last long (site quotes 18 hours on flashing mode ?!?!?! )

Just bought one of these from Always riding:
    race_face_kenny_jacket_no_hood__10299.jpg

    Reduced from £130 to £51.75!

That kind of bargain catches my eye.

Tried a couple of other Raceface jackets from CRC before, but sent them back as one was ok, but had zero pockets of any kind, and the other one was clearly designed for wearing over body armour so was enormous over the chest.

This one is spot on though, really nice fit, apparently totally waterproof, pit zips, and a few zipped pockets, so good for on or off the bike.

I'm about 37" chest and bagged the last small, but there is still a Large and XL left, and it's free postage too as it is over £50.
Good service, think it arrived 2 dayys after ordering.

Not night Viz, but I can wear it for MTBing or just walking into town what have you.

Best of all, I can now be just like Bradley Wiggins, as according to Hugh Porter he quite often has 'got his raceface on now'

    I'm here all week.......

I did buy a t-shirt which I suppose could be used while cycling, but it's not cycling related.

    Hi Claire

A cyclo cross bike like this this might suit if you want light trail stuff:
