Thanks, that just the answer I was looking for.
I was afraid you were going to tell me that there wouldn't be enough thread for a secure attachement and I'd need a new hub, in which case I'm too tight for that and would have made do with pedalling like a roadrunner
  • I have a Specialized Singlecross that I ride on my commute fixed with 42/15 setup.

I recently purchase a Spank Tweet Tweet half link chain for it, mostly because I thought it looked good!

I have tried fitting it and cannot get it to run quiet, it seems to catch on the rear sprocket as the chain leaves the sprocket. It looks like the links are too short, but this just seems mad. Does anybody have any ideas about what I am doing wrong. I am sure it must be me.

My first idea was that I had it the wrong way up or something, but I don't think so.

For now I have gone back to the old KMC chain.

    Cheers for any ideas

Could be that your old chain has "stretched" and the sprocket has worn to match so the teeth no longer fit a new chain? How many miles have you done on the old chain and sprocket? Maybe sprocket needs replacing too. Just guessing here.

  • It could be. The sprocket has done just short of 2000 miles, but it is a surly one so I would hope for a bit better wear than that. I will check the wear out, it is not something I thought to check.

    Cheers for the idea

  • pst88, I think your suspicions were right. On checking the rear sprocket there are visible signs of wear. I am a little dissapointed with the amount of miles it has lasted, but maybe it is a sign of how powerful a rider I really am.

As I was spinning for justice on the way down beckenham hill this morning my bag started to move around my back and since I'm gunning it and can't freewheel I'm a little nervous about taking a hand off the handlebars to rectify it... consequently I'got the bag round on my lap giggling as it hits my legs.. once I've slowed down enough I'm happy to get and arm out to rectify it...

Must have looked a right twunt.

    Anyone else get this?

Not to that extent, but it's a bit of a problem. I usually manage to knock mine back round the back using a swift blow from my right elbow.

Have considered trying to acquire summat which would secure it round my waist, bungee cord or the like.

Have you tried the 'Superman position'? Horizontal on the bike with legs straight out behind you..

Gets a few stares, but cuts out the mad spinning bag shaking altogether and impresses the motorists as you overtake..

Presuming a courier bag of sorts? Not got an underarm stopper clip thing then? My Lovely Fux Deluxe stays nicely where it is though Bruns right elbow of justice does the job if necessary.

want to convert my raleigh geared bike to a singlespeed/fixed flip flop hub for winter commuter.

anyone know of any good bike shops in west london that could do this for a fair price, don't really have time or knowledge to do it myself... any idea how much would cost?

    thanks....

    don't you have any plums?

MM yeah it does have one of those but I don't really like using it as it tends to ride the bag up a bit

  • Sounds like you might need to adjust the main hoop a bit then - shouldn't ride up or slide when both nice and toit.

  • Don't attach it to the track bolts!

I thought the Langster had rack mounts - the same ones you'd use for guards?

If not, p-clips are your friends, and you can use any rack.

25.81 seconds. Feels like a hell of a lot longer.

Checked out last week's results and that holds up pretty well.
