If I can get the 705 to work, then I'll do a 60 mile around the Surrey Hills.

If I can't, I'll do a ride around the Surrey Hills, that may be a little more than 60 miles, depending on how many times I get lost...

  • Good luck with the 705, we had one for JoGLE this year and it was great...apart from when it took us down a very bumpy muddy track somewhere near gretna  think we had the paths and bridleway setting on or something!

Yep - deserted on my commute home this afternoon too. Bizarre. Also the first commute home in the light since, er, September?

Have a good one, Gaz. Onwards and upwards next year. :)

    Raaaaaaa!

Just biked 80 miles around the Surrey Hills - my longest ever by 20 miles, and only the second time I've done over 45 miles.

And I averaged my normal Richmond Park 20 miler pace :D

Not on the new chippy one though :(

    Happy Christmas xx

That's pretty darn impressive Jen. Well done :!:

I'm away for a few days so won't get near the steed at all but will come back a day early to go for a long leisure run before returning to work.

Having 'issues' with the 705. Although it did import yesterday, it won't import any data from today into GTC. I have a tcx file, but don't know what to do with it.

The route was, ahem, interesing. I ignored the 705 for the first 13 miles, then decided to follow it, until 10 miles later I realised it was sending me home, then I switched off teh navigation and just made it up, with a vague intention of replicating the previous Surrey Hills ride. Except that took me 30 miles to get to Box Hill then, and today took 56 miles. I may have deviated slightly...

That's rough, it went through my familly last week, luckilly one at a time. Hope you guys get over it soon, I know how rough it can make you feel.

Nice bike Jen, I've always found the Madones llively beasts, they just want to ge faster and faster. I'd get that scratch checked out though, especially where carbon is concerned. 80 miles is impressive on Christmas day though

Tried that, there was an error on the first line apparently. Have tried motion based and GTC, but nothing recognises any history, even though I can see the history on the Edge itself and the tcx file in the history folder when I connect the Edge to the computer.

Why can't these things be simple! Connect, download, done. That's what I was expecting. I give up. :(

  • I now have an edge as well... haven't tried to set it up yet as it's annoying me sitting in its box reminding me that I can't cycle....

I also have a mac - hurrah! But I've had it for years.

I want to go for a bike ride...

Lucky you, i'm browsing ebay right now, hopefully they'll be plenty of unwanted gifts or redundant edge devices

If you have a Mac then you need TrailRunner does everything you'll ever need for gps, planning, training and workout diaries including creating routes for export to the edge.

Hi Everyone hope you had a nice Xmas. spent mine up in Theftord at Parents house so no cycling for me for quite a few days.

I can feel the tightness in the waist of my trousers squeezing me a little more each day.

More socialising today and out again tomorrow so will not be getting any exercise at tall in the coming days

  • Did my little 75 miler on xmas day with me prezzies on board and it was great, felt i really deserved that exrtra helping of turkey :)
Bike and kit weighed about 35KG in the end so to get down in 5.5 hours i didn't think was too bad.
It was good to see the cerne abbas giant was standing very proud on xmas day despite the chill in the air :D
saw 7 other cyclists and overtook....none of them :( I was just too weighed down but heyho maybe next year I will buy lightweight presents and blast down :D

hope everyone had a great chrimbo, looks like some great weather for the next week so no excuse not to get out...although looks a bit nippy!

Actually it's just Windows that sucks.........whilst I don't have a Mac (yet) I avoid that OS like the plague and had great fun having found out that the lovely JVC camera my parents picked up records in some obscure file format that is only supported by the windows software........

Thankfully a quick google provided a solution to that one and I can now view all the videos of the kids enjoying their Xmas pressies :-)

Hope everyone had a good festive season, I'm back at work on Monday and frankly I can't wait! It's hopefully gonna be dead on the IT support front and I can finally get back out on the bike!

Also another nice result I found out last week the jury service I've been called up for has been moved to a rather large court just the opposite side of Blackfriar's Bridge so I can SIlly Court Service Race for a couple of weeks :-D

One last thing, nice bike Jen! I'm now rather jealous........

  • First day commuting this morning since the 17th and bl00dy heck was it cold!!!
I actually had to back off the speed on my usual fast hill towards Upper Norwood for fear of getting frostbite in my nose! I've never known my face to hurt from the cold before when it hasn't been foggy!

Absolutely dead on the SCR front tho, although I did watch a nice little race from the lights heading West->East whilst I was waiting at the north end lights of Vauxhall Bridge, a hybrid rider did a roadie across the junction heading towards our usual watering hole!
