 What's the stopping distance for one of those at that speed?

Pah. Should have dropped him at that speed...

What's the FCN on one of them anyway - do they count as a '1'?

Leisurely pedal in this morning and apart from the loon in a Beemer trying to run me down at Parsons Green all was quiet. Spotted Rower at Edith Grove and was going to say hello but he beat me to the junction so didnt get the chance.

Anyone know whats going on in the car park near Roehampton Gate? full of lorries and Mercs this morning.

There was filming going on at one of the houses just after the mini roundabout outside the park. Don't know what it was, but it looked pretty significant.

They often have all the film crew stuff in Bushy Park if they are filming nearby, tempted to join the queue for breakfast one day.
Had some actual SCR today and won. Leaving work on the pub hack MTB I could see a guy on a road bike approaching so I put in a bit of effort to stay ahead. He passed me with a bit of a stupid move when he close passed a car on the left as I was hanging back. Car had slowed down for a slower cyclist and this tool cut between the front of the car and the slower guy. I sat behind the car as the guy rode into the distance. Car eventually got round the slow guy so I went after him too, car soon catches him with me not far behind. He'd blown up going for the pass and settled into his cruising speed I suspect. Car passed him and was gone, I accelerated and made the pass shortly before my usual left turn. Thought taking the turn would look like I'd bailed so stuck to the main road, he'd accelerated to hang on to my wheel. I was doing about 25mph at this point on a 20 year old MTB with rumbling tyres. Kept the pace up as best I could and eventually cruised up to a red light and made my best attempt at skin breathing. He rolled through a few seconds later, jumped the light and was gone. I'd truly beaten him before he jumped the red light, so his scalp is clearly mine.
    That was fun.

Carnage but great fun this morning. Too many random movements, near misses and moments of sheer Darwinism to list here but at least it kept things interesting

Last night was a pretty quick run as well. Must be the weather.

All the shyte Sagans and cut-price Cavendishes were out in force today - all elbows and knees, no pace, weaving about all over the place, PE shorts and hairy butts very much in evidence. I think the commute in is now rubbish until October unless it's raining or I make an effort to get up early. However - all these cyclists is a "good thing", even if it makes me a little grumpy. Going home is never so bad though, so there's that to look forward to.

What with Hammersmith Bridge closed, Millbank past Parliament closed and hortigeddon on Chelsea Embankment, the whole of my commute from the bottom of Priory Lane is pretty much fooked. I think I might take my chances with the dragon; what's the actual route?

Lovely weather out this morning. Took CS7 in and got a pleasant cruise through Tooting for a change. Saw Bojo on a boris bike at Oval to boot. Many many choppers appeared out of nowhere around Clapham so rode wheels the rest of the way in. Two mini bits of SCR one with a guy on an SS who I chased down and passed going up and over the A3/Bushey Road intersection. He tried to latch on again but I snapped the elastic pretty quick. Second was a guy on a Boardman with deep sections up the drag of the col du tooting. He got a much better start than me off the lights at Tooting Station and got away but I had reeled him in by the top and put some time into him by the lights at the Broadway. Happy with those two wins!

I only ever take it on the way home. It'll be slightly different coming in, due to the one-way system through Wandsworth, but it should be fairly easy to work out. Hopefully the link below works.

Looks terrifying, frankly. However, I may risk going south at Westminster Bridge tonight: the "roadworks"*** along Millbank and in the side streets are a right royal PITA.

More seriously, the traffic along the LRR and Queen's Ride was backed up over Bolan Bridge nearly to the URR this morning. It was truly rogered. Roll on half term next week for a little bit of relief, but are these clowns seriously going to sit in their cars forever more?

***I've put this in quotes because part of me thinks that there ain't much going on in the way of roadworks and that it's just a ruse to keep large demonstrations away from outside Parliament.

I went along the pavement past the House of Lords one evening last week when I was very late, around 2130, just to see what the close-off and barriers were there for. There was LITERALLY NOTHING, no signs of any works, no holes, nothing. I also suspect it's demo-related. In other words: "It's bloody Brexit's fault".

In that case, they should at least completely close off Parliament Square Broad Sanctuary, Great Smith St, Litte Smith St, Tufton St and Great Peter St so that there's an uninterrupted crit-style circuit!

Absolute rule doesn't sound too bad an option at the moment. I think QE2 would have a lot more support than Charles I.

Utter bedlam  (Saw a chap nearly take out a female rider last night, looking to turn onto Great Peter St, but not being able to do so with*out* taking her out, so he had to go straight on.)

What a palaver. It makes my commute extremely bothersome. Is it really that much of a tourist event to warrant inconveniencing me that much?

Thought there was some incident in the park this morning as two police cars early and then an Ambulance at Roehampton Cafe. I later realised the Police marking on the back of one of the cars had gaffa tape over it and while some units have pretty old cars they probably don't have 2004-2006 era Vectras any more. I assume they were film cars with the rest of the film set!

Spent last week sailing in the UK Firefighters regatta (I'm not a fireman but it is vaguely work related), excellent fun and incredibly physical but apparently not ideal cross-training as my legs seem to have deserted me this week. Have been well outmatched a couple of times, once on the way home by a guy in jeans on some kind of urban-style bike (geared) who opened up a gap with such ease on Trinity St and then Great Dover St that I was gazing from afar (and in vain) for evidence of a motor as he disappeared through the changing lights onto the Bricklayers Arms. Then this morning by a very promuterish guy on a white carbon Condor who rocketed past somewhere south of Catford and despite lots of huffing and puffing on the run up to Lewisham, could not be brought back. Lots of choppers out, I did CS3 from Tower to Embankment and saw plenty of questionable behaviour in both directions.

I once came in late after the dentist when it was going on.

Ended up in amongst all the chauffeur driven cars who were waiting for various important people and a policeman with a big gun made it quite clear I needed to gtf outa there else I’d be in a world of trouble.

By contrast, the 12-14 year-olds I watched riding their bikes at Hillingdon last night had impeccable bike handling, and were comfortably averaging 23mph (while looking over their shoulders waiting for someone else to make a move ).

They seem to be doing work with the drains along the stretch of road outside HoP. No idea what is actually being done though. I just swing a left at the roundabout by MI5, turn right at the lights and then at the next set of lights turn right onto Parliament Square. A bit slower but not too bad.

Have been leaving home at 7.15 or so lately but may revert to 7am and see if that makes LRR slightly better.
