    All at once everyone.

    AAAWWWWWWW

Nice to know your tackle still works after all that biking. ;)
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

I have around a 15 mile flat route from St Columb. About 70% off road.

As the summer season is nearly over, there is the option to use the coast path (not legal though). I do a night ride occasionally taking in the path from Watergate.

There is also a guy from Newquay the goes out on the Trail riders ride nearly every Sunday, if you want to travel a bit.

I am happy to arrange a ride with you.

  • Well after me and mark completed the 75km (actually 77km) BHF exmoor challenge, I was actually well up for tehidy.

You can hear it can't you.... but...

I had a brake technical about 25 miles in. Lost the pad retention bolt and pads, didn't realise till I noticed a slight bit of break bind, a slight squeel and a complete loss of feel in the lever. Being an equal distance from civilisation in any direction and due to a complete lack of desire to pull out after all the prep I'd done and sponsorship I'd got - I kept going. I can report I got back to cornwall safely, although mostly via a few hairy DH decents and close encounters of the hedge kind.

Today I went out and thought, great I have spare pads and a retention bolt. I'll wack them in - change over to my highrollers and I'll be set! Nope...

Unfortunately all the rear brake fluid is doing a fine job of soaking into devonshire and somerset soil. I've taken the brake in as I'm seriously concerned that I've mullered the pistons or seals and I can see definately see a nice gouge in one piston. These tatty fluidless hayes are the only rear brakes I own in the world. Really after the joy of trying to stop in the BHF with one brake, I don't fancy a second try.

So action. Buy some brakes for the ragley, or reign so I have two sets of rears. I want a reliable, powerful brake - I want to buy it new and they have to be bolt on rotors not shimano splined ones. I'm also going to have to seriously consider a workstand as I want to try doing brakes myself (I have bottles and plastic tubing akimbo). I'm also hoping at one point or another to get the wheels for the ragley so it's actually roadworthy. Just cost and funding to allow for then... :D

  • Rich, pop in and have a natter with Sean down the barn as he's a Very good wheel builder and can build a Super strong wheel up for you! (remember your hub's still there!!)
would only have to choose a rim and then sean can do the rest!! (think there is a rim in the shop but cant remember the details of it! possibly a 719??)

Hopefully your brakes are just a case of pistons back in, new pads and a bleed and job done!!

  • Timmo just cast your eyes over the blingness of these puppies.

I'm sure sean is a bloody good wheel builder, just black rims = boring as. Superstar do a lush shiny blue AM rim that is this blue (above the gold ones)
    XC430.jpg

So wiith matching hubs, Gold or Red nipples and either Sapin silver PG or black DB spokes and all in for around £200. They came out second best to hope in a recent review and are equal in strength and one of the lightest wheelsets available. I'm waiting to get a set in ASAP!

I also like the idea of wacking some 'techno lime green' hub ones on the reign to match the malletts see the grip ends here (far right the super lime greeny ones)
coloured-ends-facebook-2.jpg then have either red or white rims.

I'm just deciding on what brakes to run with, matching hopes for the reign would be good - but they are super expensive, and I can only get hold of another front. That means hassle. I'd really like formulas rx's for the ragley, but they aint cheep - and again I can only get hold of one. I really don't know!
