I live 3 miles from St Columb.

I could go out at least one evening.

There is a nice coast ride (20 ish miles) from there or a local loop (15 ish miles) from Fraddon. Otherwise, it might be worth taking the car & going out Bodmin way.

PM me if you want to go out.

Any details of those routes would be much appreciated.

I'm trying to regain my fitness after an injury so I'm cramming in the miles whenever I can so I can get past the 'dead weight of the group' stage, and a change of scenery would be great.

  • Mark, were you guys out in unity yesterday morning?? saw someone that looked Very much like you (possibly in a gt jersey??), i did shout Marky mark as i rode past!

we had a good laugh up in mars, were having a natter when a chap with his family roilled in and popped up onto the top the other side, No helmet though!! did it a few times, was looking very smug, then Kev rolled over towards him, popped a 180 of the lip edge and rolled back, then went over and did the run over the little double, Dropped in of the big kicker and pulled a good 8ft of air of the back wheel on popping out on our side, Awesome dispaly of riding mind, but matey with no lid got the hump and rolled off!! :D:D:wink:
Good laugh out and about though, Yesty took a tumble and turns out broke his scathoid bone in his left wrist, up on the freeride section, but had some great runs down through boith the freeride and downhill side,
drty and dusty makes it a Lot of fun there hey!

Just got my 10sp shifter, still waiting on the cassette.

Im impressed, it feels very sturdy and tucked behind the shifter window is a disc that you screw in place should you decide to remove the window.

Feels far tougher than xtr imo.
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

  • oddly enough i was thinking last night youve been a bit quiet and i ought to email/text you! lol!
    sounds good fella!
i went for the Xt shifters in the end, just thought sod it lol! and thought abit about what you said,
the little window covers a nice trick hey!!

OT question for you! which do you prefer best the ultimte ears or the shure's?? iirc you had both?? looking at some of the cheaper end ones thought i'd pick your brains on them!

Neither, i have ultimate ears and tbh id rather have soundmagic, for the money they're meant to be the dogs danglies. Plenty of them sold on ebay.

One thing the shifter doesn't seem to have is the rapidfire plus double shift, perhaps it was this that made the xtr shifter unreliable?

As for being quiet, just been hitting the gym that's all what with the weather and all.

  • yeah the double shift is XTr only at the mo fella! theyve gotta keep something back for the big guns! that and with the windows removed the XT's are something like 50g heavier! so has to be an obvious upgrade!!

i'll have a nose at the earbuds, cheers matey!

Well double shift is nice but nothing amazing, just means i'll have to shift quicker.

Won't be riding for a while, about to sign up for 6 months of gym membership next month.

Anyway you're going to be some busy next week. ;)

Id watch out for the crusaders, two of them have won trans wales so you have your work cut out with them, they also attend the mud and sweat events so you have probably bumped into them.

As for the others i couldn't find anything.

Id love to enter as im quite fit atm, but i've other things going on that take presidence.

Well those that don't know the ragley is finished IMG_6776.jpg.scaled.1000.jpg and recently I've been riding her. Although she's not perfect, mainly because I made her! Lots of gear slippage action. I even borked a chain already :(

I was on lates yesterday and working at a local hospital means finding a parking space is almost impossible. So being it was sunny yesterday and being that I am at a wedding today I decided to blast in from the park and ride carpark to fulfill a little bit of fat burning leg action.

It's only about 2 miles, but the weather in the morning indicated it was going to tip down later in the afternoon and as I was on lates and feeling in a sloppy clothes mood (jeans and a hoody) I decided against riding too far so I didn't get soaked! I did a map of the route there and back using a mapping tool on my phone once, the starting point is the 2 mile marker: YESTERDAYS ROUTE . I felt great all day, but as the afternoon dragged on I felt I should have left ealier and taken my: USUAL ROUTE TO WORK

Then as my shift finished at 8pm and I climbed on my steed and rode off (to a little bit of london electricity on my iPod.) I noticed a rather bouncy feeling from my hardtail, and a rather interesting squirmy cornering action. I'd left the house with a 50psi pressure tire , I left work with about 5psi. Obviously a really S L O W puncture.

I jumped off and pumped with my micropump for england and glory, much to the amusement of some nearby nurses. I must of got about 30psi in, and the tire felt hard enough. I took the pump off and, yup - you guessed it, my presta valve stem had snapped off in the pump, thankfully the valve still sealed,. So now I had to ride like the wind (well a mild breeze, the tyre was still squishy) to get back to the car before my tyre eventually went flat. Do you know, at that point, just HOW glad I was I had only ridden from the park and ride? It would have been a rather long evening if I'd had to fix a puncture, then ride back to blackwater

All this madness is training at the minute for the BHF exmoor marathon in a few weeks Unfortunately the ragley isn't really comfortable enough, and I can ride the reign faster due to familiarity, so I'm putting her back together for this ride.
I'm also thinking of changing my usual route and coming in from devoran again for a while. It's futher, hillier and generally more difficult. I need to loose me some of my cake shelf. I'm currently after some padded liners, or a good set of MTB shorts. Typically, beign that I'm not a waif like rider NO ONE MAKES 42 to 44 INCH waisted MTB SHORTS it seems, well not a true 42-44, the ones that are are very undersized.

Dazza are those headphones you mentioned good for riding? I need a new riding set. I got a crappy set that keep falling out of my ears currently. I do have a great seat of top end sennheisers for mixing, but they don't fit under my helmet! [/url]

Yeah they're fine, they have plastic loops that go over your ears, if you sweat profusely like i do or just don't find the seal enough you can fit comply foam tips which i find great.

Personally i've never auditioned a pair but folks in the know rave about them, and that doesn't happen very often with them being critical.

For the price you're laughing, plus the ebay seller is soundmagic so you get the full warranty.
