    We're slipping . . . .. bottom of page?!

    Rockhopper update

Clarks S2 brakes arrived and fitted yesterday. I now have the bike as I want it (for now).

Also bought a service kit for the Hayes as waiting for the seller to get back to me is getting tedious - one moment he'll pay something towards the problems, then . . . . . . .

Fully serviceable Hayes 9 will be for sale soon.

  • be interested to see how you get on with the brakes Mark, often looked at them for budget stoppers, (crc oem sets)
one of the lads that rides with us has been using the skeletals and rates them but only moved on from cable discs to them,

what you make of em so far? I've had one on the back of my bike for a while now and stopping power is pretty good for a 40quid brake imo! thinking of getting one for the front too as soon as ive single speeded it and no longer need a shifter, (ive got shimano brake and shifter combo atm and cba to buy a shifter only to not need it after christmas!)

1st ride on the Rockhopper with the Clarks S2 brakes fitted and first impressions are very good.

Bedded in quickly and after some pretty hairy, muddy and rocky down hills, I would say they are comparably to the Elixir Carbon fitted to the Stumpjumper. Feel is good, as is braking efficiency.

Only problem I had was with the reach adjuster. Using Shimano shifters I occasionally found it difficult to get to the finger (down change) shifter. You can't quite get a finger fully in the centre of the button as the adjuster is in the way. Minor issue that I only noticed a couple of times.

    Recommended.

However I do need to sort that rebound. Couldn't keep my head still on some of the descents. Not good - it gets a bit blurry!

Been a goood week in Timmo land this week!! Picked up and pimped a tag along for the bigger littlun after getting on very welkl with one over the summer, so have been doing the school runs on it (actually recon its quicker than using the car!) much to the pleasure of Jorja! and also took her up the park yesterday on her lil bike and took the stabalizers off for the first time! First push and she was off! pedaling and gone! Awesomely Proud fatherly moment!! she rode around the park for half an hour and then wanted to ride home! got to the shop and she was so tired bless her but she insisted on riding!!

  • thats alright mark, missed out cycle logic and hayle cycles from the shops list, (and the barn)and freeriders from the groups, but looks alright! will have a look on the big computer tomorrow as on the netbook at the mo,
bikebiz is a good place for news too if your looking a blog type style,

had a cracking ride yesterday, porthtowan, chapel porth, watch the crossers appear around the headland, make a LOT of noise and dissapear off up the coast path tp return us to the peaceful silence! up the beacon, bridlelaning around, down into the valley between porthtowan and mounte hawke and back to porthtowan, great laugh as usual, 3 new peeps turned out in the cold with 11 usual suspects, 5 other usuals couldnt make it but would have been a good group size then!
Love the run down to chapel porth, just missed out on 25mph by .1! gutted, great blast down though!
can Highly recommend Bounce balls Spirulena energy/protien balls! Very good and remarkably tasty too!

I've not finished the lists yet. There are plenty of others.

Plenty of clubs to go too - eg Cycle Logic, Tri Logic, Falmouth Wheelers.

It's adding stories etc on a regular basis that will take the time.

Then, all I have to do is direct people to it and see if they keep reading it.

Paths looked like hardpack as the summer but were a nightmare!
t the top of the secomd down and up my tyres were 2" wider in Mud! poor bike doubled in weight! then a minor disastor!

could understand it if i'd been Ful on DH'ing and took it out on a rock!

got to replace a spoke tomorrow that went on the way out of portreath (box of spares in the shed!) and lube up the chain but otherwise its good to go, just minus the Shiney rear mech!:cry::cry:

    Timmo / anyone

The website is filling up with information.

If you get a chance, any feedback (what's missing / wrong etc or what else it needs) is very welcome.

I also want suggestions for events.

    http://cyclestuff.terapad.com/

BTW the news feed hasn't been working for a few days.

I'll probably send an email out to all the clubs and shops to get their feedback over Xmas - then start shouting about it properly.

  • events wise, soggy round 2 &3, bonty 24/12, mud and sweat turkey burner, freeriders are planning a dartmoor day again may april time, dont know if theres any more from the idless series, but seem to remember most of us found out after the event unles you used or popped into cmc!

the site looks alright but being brutally honest it seems to have been written / made with out any form of charachter (sp??) it reads fine just doesnt have the Spark that some do, Think CRC in comparison to all terrain cycles, ATC does the job it needs to, lists things clearly etc, but CRC's site just feels inviting!

why not get a couple of guys on trailriders to mail you some blog posts?? i know a lot of mid week riding happens there, same for some of the one and all guys, maybe young Joe williams?? have a young outlook on the cycling scene??

i know its put up as a proffesional site, but sometimes needs to have a light hearted out take imo,
i used to have a site for my littlun (jorja) from birth up to she was 2, used to to blog for her, add pictures of what she'd been doing etc and sent it round the family to keep them informed, sadly, when orange swapped over the site makers to the new site, despite migrating my old site over, they lost all of it, (was a free site) didnt bother making a new one for one reason and other, wrote it in a very Child friendly way in what you'd imagine she would have said herself if she could and it went down Very well,
i know a site for your daughter and a cycling site are complete opposites on the spectrum but both can be made fun!
