Great ride this evening, my first night ride, I was going to say something cool about no longer being a virgin after a ride in Idless Woods, but I know it would all come out wrong!
Thanks Guys and Gals I really enjoyed it, off to Saltash in the week to buy some lights, as I was well impressed with the Lupines.
Helen, which Betty's did you have and what sort of ride time do you get a full chat?
Ogh and didn't mean to shock you by shouting out of the van window going up the hill
See you next week for more muddy fun.

Right ive gone and ordered me two 2.25 gluey gooey black shark muds as they were a bargain on ebay, i think my pressures are also off so i'll have to play around with them to get the best.
I still feel they're a fantastic mud tyre just need a bit of fine tuning first as i have no idea what pressures im currently running. :?
Going to go hunting for a mount solution for the p7, really impressed me for a £22 torch. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Cracking ride Helen.
Turn out was just about right, but it was a shame Lee didn't come along.
Looking forward to next week.
BTW I have a free pass for Monday night if anyone fancies an extra ride out.Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

New p7 torch is coming out, it can fit three 18650 batteries giving you around three hours runtime.

Managed to fit in a quick hilly 12 mile blast around Truro - very pleasant.
Getting tempted by this night riding stuff - my light (Cateye EL510 I think) wouldn't be good enough so would have to get something better.
Can still only do sub hour rides for now but hopefully out for longer soon.0 -
Matt,
if you can get out at night you'll love it...
Bowcaps,
have a look on the lupine web site very informative, i have the Betty 7, you can set the lights to what ever wattage you want bit of a fiddle but gives me over 4hrs for more than enough light...I dont need a run time more than that,so didnt think it worth spending even more money...legs have gone by then!!! they charge quickley too.
Nice van buy the way..T5's are great...hope your bike was in side...didnt see it on the rack!!!.

I'll be finished around 6pm as I'm at a meeting in Redruth.
Was thinking of taking the bike and going straight out for a ride from the meeting.Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

Mark, did you matt and Kyle make it for the tehidy Biathalon today???

Mark- you're right my performance was down to being tanked out on carbs, i dosed up on psp22 tonight and nailed lord knows how many hills, did especially good on the mount hawke, the steep one.
I will however carry on regardless, it's knocking the weight off, i will reserve the carb loading for you and helen/jane.
The torch however has stopped working, it's the spring inside some can be a bit weak so now the battery bounces inside however a spacer can be made to sort this out, she will be back!!
Was damned amusing seeing the look on some peoples faces thinking wtf is that.
A second one is most definitely on the cards, ive sorted the mounting with two jubilee clips, works a treat and didn't shake once.
Oh and i nearly ran over a badger, my first one!
The sharks performed well too, they are sensitive to what pressures you run.The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Nope. Didn't end up doing it.
I have had a few problems with my calf recently (which pulls when I run). What with this and Matt getting used to being a father, we thought it better to leave it.
Forgot it was on today. Would have liked to go up and watch it. Instead I did the club ride today. 15 miles around Mount Hawke.Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

thats good then! (that you didnt do it, not the calf!!) as would have felt bad if i'd missed out on supporting 'Our Boys'!!

Mark and I did a "trial" ride/run but his calf was definitely an issue. Which was partially lucky because he was very speedy on the bike! I was battling a cold/hangover though and when both of us did a road sprint, I was VERY close to throwing up!
No bike excuses for me any more - got the right tyres for almost all conditions, right pedals, etc, etc - all working really nicely.
Would love to try a big race next year though - and maybe do some other similar stuff.0 -

I was thinking about a Soggy Bottom next year.
http://www.xcracer.com/content.php?pid=185
Probably the March one, as I'm too fat and unfit for the 1st one and the 2nd one is too close to Junior 2's due date.0 -
That looks great - slight problem is that the 3rd one is on Mrs Matt's birthday!
Hope all is well with the family Kyle? Were you out kitesurfing yesterday? Loads in at Perranporth and a couple were very good indeed.0 -
kyle! you too unfit! lmao!!!
congratts on No2 too!Timmo.

Kyle / Matt
Enter the fun category for the first Soggy race. Both of you would finish well.
You'll then have no problems entering the 'sport' category in Jan / Mar.
On a good day both of you are faster than me.
Then next year why don't we have a Cornwall MTB team in one of the 12/24hr events?
Matt
Now you've got all the gear - when are we going to go & do a night ride?Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

Mark - I'm only fast if it's dryish, not too technical and mostly uphill! Slightly narrow parameters for general riding.
I have all the gear except lights - running a lot for now but planning on doing the morning rides every day from Wednesday (meeting tomorrow in Taunton so riding a no go).
Cornwall MTB team entered into an event would be great I reckon - several riders who'd do pretty well i reckon.0 -

Wouldn't it be a special treat to see her man getting muddy, while she's standing in the rain holding Stanley.
I would love to say that I was one of the good ones kitesurfing, but I was stuck at home decorating.0 -

Not excuses, reasons, the tyres are new and like any spike tyre are sketchy over anything hard and especially tree roots which idless is loaded with, i had a play with the pressures trying to find the sweet spot, i think im nearly there with them, they are still imo a superb tyre, will have bontrager mud x at some point for gentler mud conditions though the sharks are more for extreme weather.
http://www.tnc-hamburg.de/Schwalbe/BlackSharkMud.jpg
Besides the rear is just a 1.5 tyre. :P
The carbs is just me trying to knock weight off, been stagnant for months and it's been doing my head in if anything, but after a night run dosed up on psp22 my fears were put to rest.
It's just my way of venting my spleen that's all, especially training my arse off only to feel i was getting nowhere, very disconcerting.
But rest assured normal service will resume.
I should take a back seat and not take so seriously mind. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Dazza - just chill and cycle as much as possible!
I'm convinced calorie counting is a slippery downhill slope. Just eat well, exercise a lot and peg it up big hills.0 -
Dazza,
which helmet have you just bought?
also re the ride sat does anyone mind if we make it 10 instead of 11?
cheers H0 -
Dazz, as matt sais, ride and chill with it baby! if it goes well go with it! if ti goes badly then hey ho! haha! thats my philosophy!!
i know i'm slow on anything uphill, but do like the riding!Timmo.

It's the giro ionos, an excellent piece of kit.
I do have 2.25 sharks to pick up tomorrow, i may head for idless if the weather is good and see if i can't sort out the few niggles i have, the geometry of the bike may need some tweaking as well as i feel a bit lurched over at times.
10am would be fine, i may or may not make a showing, depends on a few things first.
Tim, yeah i know mate just very frustrating doing all this riding the to turn up for a ride and have it make chuff all difference, meh sods law eh.
I will be having a couple more new bits to make up for it though. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

ok....maybe its time for a new bike....s works or something smart!!!!
10am it is at Bisseo sat ...0 -
Im not mad in pre built bikes tbh, i like having choice bits, besides it practically is brand new.

The coyote ht5 is being built up, with parts from this one.

Dazza - your Tomac is a lovely bike with the nicest brakes I've used on any steed but there's only so much changing kit can help. I helped near zero grip with new tyres but other than that, every crap ride is my own fault!
Being a bit of a Spesh head though, Helen's bike is the one I really drool over. It's flippin geeeyooorjuss!
Have a good ride on Saturday - think I'll be surfing.0
