XC in Cornwall - any willing volunteers ?

Yeah i know, the geometry does need a bit of fettling though, and those particular bits are knocking on for 3 years old now.
The tyres indeed are a given, which is why i will be getting bontrager mud x tyres but for now the sharks will have to suffice for the winter gloop.
I know my own abilities so i know what my limits are, the tyres gave out before i ever would have. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Fri 24th Oct
Yep I know, everyone will probably be at work, but I have the day off.
I am going to Dartmoor with a mate. Thinking of doing the 'Killer Loop' that was published in MBR earlier in the year. It's 25 miles and should be a very good ride.
If anyone fancies coming along please PM me.

Stunning morning ride today - flipping freezing but gorgeous weather!
Mark - itching to get back to Dartmoor but think I'm fairly restricted to short rides for a while.
Be interesting to see how quickly you and your mate (presume he's a decent rider) manage it. Could probably be done in about 2.5 hours if you go for it.
And have the right tyres...0 -

Hi guys,
I know there's some routes in the Tehidy area but never ridden them. Could anyone give me any tips on the best riding to be had around there please?0 -
Cookster - where are you?
Tehidy is good but slightly limited. Bissoe/Polidice Valley has more variety and Idless Woods (nrTruro) is fun. All sorts around really - mid Cornwall has tonnes of bridleways so probably the best concentration of fun riding. The coast tends to be a bit more restricted.0 -
There is a ride from Tresilian (nr Truro) on Sunday. Check the meet sheet on here: http://www.cornwallmtb.kk5.org for info.
Timmo is one of the best to show you around Tehidy, but the club ride different places in Cornwall every week.Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

there's a great bit of St in the woods! one of my favorite i have to say!
as matt said there are also bissoe and iddless, but like tehidy they can both get a liottle stale if youfocus on them soley! but good to get out for a stretch for an hour or two!!!
this week i've discovered the best weightloss programm ever! very simple too!
pick up a nice does fo Sickness and Diahorrea from the local toddler groups and your well ont he way to firing a few stone off over night! :shock:Timmo.

Thanks Tim, heading over there Friday afternoon with a mate possibly, so no sweat if your busy with kids!! Know what you mean about riding the same trails too much, I've done Poldice a few times over the last few weeks, so looking for a change of scenery.0
-
cookster, you have a pm matey!
depending on the state of my back side from the S&D i may be able to ride up with the littlun in the trailer and show you the start of a couple of trails! point yo uin the roight direction as some of them if you didnt know were there you would miss totally!
the section of St i love apparently is part of the old XC loop in the woods, about 3/4 mile long before the first exit route back to the trail and carriesd on to make it approx a mile long in full! Is very god and very fast flowing! and there are a coupl eof down hill tracks with burms and jumps etc. too! (one i have yet to find!)Timmo.

What . . . lots of rain, with plenty of mud?
Did a great little ride Wed night near my house.
There is a few cycle tracks near me that lead onto Roche moor (well that's what we call it). Pitch black riding down a trail that was just mud and water. At one point I was axle deep in water (I know 'cause I got stuck).
Dazzza - you'd have needed your mud tyres.Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

I can imagine so, they're great when it gets stupid shame they let me down everywhere else.
2.25/2.0 is more stable mind.
Ah well got some bonty mud-x on order to make up for it.
Helen, doubt id make tomorrow so don't wait up, i'll probably have to nip out later on in the day for my sins. :oops:The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

I'm going to ride up from St Columb Road - 10 miles of back roads according to Bike Route Toaster (up to Whiteacres, across to Mitchell & up to Carland cross, before the main road to Trispen).
With the ride back, that could be over 45 miles!
Now about that crash course in fitness . . . . . you fancy joining me on route?

Matt, is it not far to cold to surf?
It gets MUCH colder than this! Still in a 3mm Summer suit with no boots - when it gets properly cold (Jan/Feb/March) it's 5mm rubber (!) with boots and gloves too.
My avatar pic was taken last October - no gloves or boots.0 -
Helen / Jane
Nice ride this morning, bike all clean and me too, just resting up for tomorrows onslaught..
Top tip - don't try and ride around puddles!
Oh, dogs need walking, no rest for the wicked..

ooooh yes, great day out isn't it 8)
Fitted the new bars and stem, fantastic much better control yet still snappy if needs be and have better balance overall.
All i need now is to lose that squeaky seatpost, it's driving me nuts.
If the weathers the same for tomorrow will be out again, did a good 4 hours today. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.
