Gutted i couldn't ride today, did a few miles yesterday so not a total loss.

Ive been busy on the bike, stripped and greased the headset, plus i fitted new bearings to one of the rear triangle pivots, still have another pair of bearings that need looking at, oh and i cleaned pretty much everything and fitted the black shark mud tyres, looking rather menacing now, never did look right with those fire xc pro's on.

Good to see you had a good ride tim, watch out as i'll be around the bissoe area come next week. :P
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Cheers Tim. Good ride, but not enough climbs like the one out of Portreath. Pain baby, yeah.

Not sure I went back the way you suggested, but kept on going and asked in a shop. Not sure they were too chuffed with all the mud dropping off me.

Thanks for the cider by the way.
  • yeah it appears the yellow paint markings i put out on thursday got rained off! a few others went on a slight detour! haha!
guess the shop was the co-op! there a bit odd in there anyways lol! humour isnt one of the strong points for staff there thats for sure!!

hmmn, climbs like the one out of portreath, hmmn, yeah, erm, Unfortunately, i cant think of any more like that!;)
    haha!

Timmo - glad it went well and amazed at your planning skills! Much much better than mine (grab a map, hope for the best...!).

No baby yet - went for a surf (just about within the "safe" time limits if anything happens!!) and it was utterly brilliant - big, clean and lovely at Porthtowan.

Will shout loudly when stuff happens - it WILL be soon (after what happened before, they aren't going to hang around if Mrs Matt gets to the due date on Saturday - induction time!).
  • nice one matt!
i did think when we were up on the headland the godrevy side of portreath that porthtowan would be good!

so its Curry, pinaple, bumpy car rides and lastly what caused the bump in the first place all this week then!!;)

Excuse the dreadful pic (taking pics while chopping around on a little speedboat is REALLY hard - and our camera is crap!) but it was pretty impressive!

    TallShips009.jpg
  • they are majestic looking boats!
ive been lucky enough to sail on one of them! first trip across the channel for a coup eof days and back and second was around the canary islands!
being out on the end of the second Yard up (bits that go across the mast!!) pulling the sails in in a swell is good fun!

    Good fun?!

Crossed the Channel is a force 9 (!) and 15ft swell on a 1917 Bristol Clipper (Jolie Briese) and was ill for ten hours solid!!

Never, ever again! Not a single sailing craft was out and a huge race was cancelled when 15 boats got in trouble. The JB set her all time speed record too.

Amazing but it was SO puke inducing!

My sea legs (except of really small boats or big ferries) are about as useful as my "downhill MTBing" legs!

You should have done the ride I did to work this morning.

First taste of the cold weather - there was a blanket of mist around the clay pits in St Austell.

Note to self - when it's cold outside, wear full finger gloves.
