    Matt

Fancy coming to Bodmin on Thursday?

I have another hill challenge. I've only made it up once (out of approx 10 attempts).

Mark - this is getting a bit silly BUT.... we have friends over from Thursday (AGAIN)!!

Hotel Malpas truly is booked out big time this Summer!

Sounds good though. I seem to have regressed to the level of a brand new rider on a hybrid though. I might start eyeing up stabilisers.
  • If you feel that bad matt, I'll come for a ride with you! You'll feel like an Mtb superstar then lol! and have enough time to catch a tan whilst waiting for me at the top of the hills lol!

I can still just about climb but the downhilling was downright embarrassing. And I fell off properly. Hoping new tyres will help but also remove an excuse!

You could have no BB, buckled both wheels and have your brakes jammed on - you'd still beat me downhill when it's wet.

Might be going out to idless this sunday as well, I suspect, as I haven't managed to get out yet this week.

If the weather continues like this all week I'm gonna get some Trailrakers from Clive Mitchell's on Saturday ;)
  • or maybe some Moto x tyres from ats!!!

My daily ride (through Truro, up the valley and back) was FOUL today!
Near flood conditions - methinks Idless with require Swamp Thing tyres!!

Yeah, the Fire XCs I have on there are all well and good in the dry, or damp conditions, but it has gone way past damp now, and Idless does take a while to dry out, too.

Washing out the front on the corners blasting down some of those trails isn't something that particularly appeals tbh ;)
  • hmmn, could be interesting ride then!! especially if it rains on friday nad saturday too! (tomorow is supposed to be okayish!) will be the first mud the cinders have seen, cant be anyworse than the trailblasters were lol! two loops of mud around the rims then loL!

Just switched over to smoke/darts, they rock, better all round than the Fires I had on, and they handled the gloop in Idless this afternoon an awful lot better, not bad going for a 15+ year old tyre design ;)

They'll be getting some more in at Clive Mitchell's soon, but you'll have to grab them before James does ;)

Ps, was it one of you guys I passed on the way back, just along from Daubuz moor on a full sus thingy? (I was on a black hardtail).
  • Kegs, you iddlessing with the rest of us tomorow??

Nah, unfortunately my wheels were making some alarming pinging at times, so I dropped them at CMs for a check up after I got back, they were (over)due for it anyway, and I really don't want to pringle them.

Shame, but I can only really drop them in on a sat, cos of work.
  • top track in iddless is a bit gloopy still hey! all good fun though! even when you run out of traction in a muddy puddle! hahaha!
good ride though, enjoyed it muchly, Love the humour too! really makes it worth it!
Oh, spotted andy and Gem in Portreath this avo on the big orange bike!

looking forward to bodmin next week! and have been nosing at shin pads too after ripping mine apart on the brambles and bush's!!!

    Planning on Bodmin this weekend!

Did the trail run - just under 7 miles of super hilly death terrain (!)
Got 50th out of about 450 but most were "proper" club runners so not too bad.
48m 29s for about 6.8 miles, averaging 7m27s per mile.

I need to test out my new tyres properly very soon!

Timmo - cuts are cool! 8)
  • good going matt! a great result too!!!

yeah cuts and scars are cool until your wife, Mother and Aunt on seprerate occasions ask you 'What on earth have you done to your Legs??' hahaha!

tyres wise, up the top of iddless in the gloop, didnt matter what you had on you still ended up with an inch thick pair of mud rings instead of tyres!! haha!
good fun though! mark picked out a great long trail too! from the top pretty much all the way down to the past the carpark and onto the other section!
a good day all round with only a snapped chain (me) and a snapped mech hanger (Si) to count! oh and mark pulled something althoguh not too seriously i hope!
    Timmo.

    Well done mate.

Won't be seeing you at Bodmin next week. I'm going up to Plymouth to have a ride with Yogi.

    Anyone else fancy coming?

Mark - saw a few MTBers on Dartmoor and it brought back great memories of that ride but I can't really spare almost a whole day.
In fact I've just remembered (!) - I'm doing the safety boat for the Malpas Regatta on Sunday from 11am. Doh! Will get out on Saturday unless there's some surf.

EDIT - I lied (by mistake) - Regatta is the weekend after - I hope to be in Bodmin!

Hope to see you for the Bodmin ride.
If anyone needs some leg protection, I just bought some Brand-X shin and knee guards, bargain price at CRC and they are great! Well recommend them as they're much cheaper than the 661 etc. equivilents.

Depends, what time, where you meetng, sunday i take it?

If i can make it i wouldn't mind taking a train ride up and back if i feel i can make it. :)
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

    All set for;
Sunday 20th July meet at 10am B&Q Marsh Mills (just off the A38), Plympton.

Plan is to do our 'Rim Wrecker' route which is about 20 miles long and then finish off with some technical single-track action for those that want that little bit more. All welcome as the first 20 miles is suitable for everyone.

I should add, that you need to bring food as there are NO cafes or shop enroute!

Sorry I didn't make it again!
Woke up, saw the extreme sunshine, jumped straight in the boat and spent the day just past St Mawes on a rather stunning little sheltered beach accessible only by boat.
    It was rather lush!

Hope your leg is healing up Timmo - I cannot believe how often you hurt yourself!!
  • sounds good matt! pops is coast hopping down from fowey this weekend coming on the annual 'grumpy old men weekend'! hoping to meet them at the pandora on friday for lunch! might get there a bit early to see them all decamp into the rubber dinghey from the boat hahah!

i cant beleive how stupid i am too sometimes lol! only injuries i gained form the ride were a few bramble cuts to the arms so all in all a good use of the pads, still, another scar to the legs! hahah! dropped a car back off yesterday after a clean for one of the mums in the village and she just looked at my leg and said 'Youve been out on that bike again havent you'!! seems my reputation for all things injury related preceeds me hahah!
