Will clear the 8.30 time (!) with wife but should be okay - possibly 9.30 might be more allowed though...!

The run almost passes the park so that would be ideal. Will see if I can get Kyle along too.

    What time Matt?

Phew - that was fun but tiring!

Sorry about the slow riding Mark - definitely felt a bit iffy but glad I didn't collapse on the run. Suprisingly good fun - but does it need to be THAT muddy?! Took flipping ages to clean the bike/me/my shoes!

I had just enough time to clean the bike before we went out shopping.

My right calf is so stiff this morning, I can hardly walk on it! Might have to try & rest it for a couple of weeks.

Running is so much harder than riding. I can't see me ever keeping up.

It was an excellent ride / run. Wife was amazed I was back before midday.

Might be worth getting that looked at - sounds nasty. My legs were fine but had a second coming of the hangover later that day and was wiped out completely!
  • sounds like you guys had a blast!!
is this part of the traingin as such for the tehidy biathalon thingy?? i'll do my best to get down there and offer my support in the cheering stakes!!! (with the camera ofcourse!!!)

    Timmo - it is indeed!
We rode about 13/14 miles (about 5/6 of those were at the insanely muddy Idless - even the flat bits were hard work!), got back to mine and then ran a 5km trail route.
  • thats because your both mad! hahah!
no serioulsy, good on you! i wish i could do likewise! well i suspect i could do the ride but in the same time as it took you pair to do the ride and Run!!!
i have a dream that one day i'll be able to keep up with the pair of you on a hill!

like i said, its a dream lol!

Timmo - with a nasty hangover (me and three others won a big beach volleyball tournament on Perranporth the day before - beat 21 other teams and celebrated a bit too much) like I had, you would have got me on the hills! Marks road training has made him a lot quicker (or I've got slower!)!

27mph on the flat coming back to the car park!

Not bad for an hefty MTB with chunky tyres eh?

Might take a trip to the quack, next week if it doesn't ease off.

I must say that if all our rides were at that pace, we'd regularly do 20-30miles on club runs

Mark - indeed. And we were neck and neck for that last bit... However the hangover kicked in and I thought I might throw up!

TBH, if it's dry and less gloopy, I do seem to be able to cycle a lot quicker. However "dry" seems to have been removed from every English Dictionary

You will have to do some night rides in Idless when it is really wet.

Sooo much fun and great for improving your bike handling skills.

Sounds like fun, noticed it was getting really quite gloomy in Idless this evening, about 6'o'clock.

That bottom fire road isn't going to dry out till next spring now, is it? ;)

i found a pair of good bridleways that were like that on sunday! infact i have suspicions that they may well actually be winter rivers this year!!
mind you, there was some satisfaction in getting absolutely Gaggled in mud testing out new route's when everyone else thats out and about looked bone dry!!! :D

Yeah, I took a different route through one of the muddy patches on Daubuz Moor on my way to Idless, to overtake someone. Imagine my surprise when my front wheel was suddenly nearly hub deep in mud :D
  • hahah! thats just what you expect to come across in the supposed Summer isnt it! just hope for a dry winter hey!!

Went for a run around this way (Malpas) yesterday and got plastered in mud. Usually it's all dust at this time of year!

Morning ride was dry though - for the first time in ages.

Flat tyre this morning so had to run with the bike for the last mile (after a 7km run last night too) - legs moaning!

Party on Saturday, folks over Sunday.

    Hope everyone is well!
  • so bookings at hotel malpas still coming in then!! haha!
not long till baby matt's due is it???

been out for a ride today and tested out a good route fora ride so will pass on the details to andy and see what he thinks!

typically though, 100 yards from home, swing across the road to hop the pavement next to my neighbour who was nattering to a mate of his, braking hard to shed off some speed, mis time it totally and catch the curb before lifting the front, and perform a great endo-over!Always when you try to hard haha!
