Thanks for the ride today, i split towards the end as i felt myself using my reserves so figured the time was as good as any.

How far in total are we talking 40 miles ish?

  • I think you made a wise move...From the cafe its 6 miles roughly home..total 36miles and a bit..

was a good ride thank you for your company..needs a bit of tweeking and it could be longer with more technical stuff...

    good luck with the chain..

The chain won't be a problem, it's having to adjust the gears that'll be a pita, the cable seemed to stretch, odd as i swore it stopped doing this.

Don't know about idless, tbh im still knackered so we'll see.

I loved the sun on my back, didn't bode well for my kitkat, i found an ideal place to wedge it on the handlebars so i had a brief respite.

I may nip out later on today but for now it's me and ray mears.

Nice gentle ride round Idless today.

I was really looking forward to some excellent stunts too. What with Andy bringing the 'Big Hit', saying he was 'going for everything today' and Kyle showing us some rather sketchy downs.

  • Gutted i missed Iddless! really looking forward to going again and trying not to kill myself! haha! want to try and stay saddle bound on more of the climbs too rather than on foot! but i guess that comes in time!! So instead, i spent the day in the garden with the littlun! Very amusing!

    Anyways!
This Sundays ride details (4th May),
Meet at HomeCroft surgery Car park in Illogan at 09:30 (near Redruth for those that haven’t braved the area before!) postcode for the surgery is TR16 4ET, car park is plenty big enough and safe too, but if any doubt then any thing you don’t want to take or leave in the car can be locked in the house! (Opposite) if anyone wants detailed directions of how to get there let me know and i'll pm you them!
Ride from the car park up to Tehidy Woods(1 mile) for a blast around the top and down a lightly technical track to the lower section, then a quick wiz around the lower section and climb up to the top of the woods for a run down through a great track been made out by some DH guys, Burms, roots, a few jumps etc (a small section of getting to it may need to be walked due to walker priority but its very worth it!) then back up to the top of the woods around the lake and head back out to the east car park, across the road and onto the trail that brings you out at Gwell an more holiday village, then a short technical blast down the footpath into Portreath,
Then a nice Mark and Matt esque ride up the Village side of Portreath hill aiming for the Airfield before heading back down a techy narrow footpath to the village (can be opted out of!) before a gentle ride up the Mineral tramway to Scorrier and then back to Illogan Via Radnor and North country With two very Mark and Matt style Hills to finish! Should be around the 13-15 mile mark with approximately 4 miles of road and the rest trail riding,
Bike cleaning facilities available after the ride along with Tea and Coffee and with any luck my perfected fruit flapjacks! (Blame Gem for my cooking! Hers were so nice I thought I ought to have a go!!)

Maps of the ride too! (split in two as too big for one map and be readable!!) sorry the markings on the first map are a little feint! but yo can just about make out the red line!

Timmo - that sounds great. I shall be there!

Good to see you all yesterday - and some new faces. Sorry we had to dash off early as usual. May have been a short ride but it had the muddyness of an epic!

Still rather embarrassed at not being able to do my own "challenge" - nice one Mark and Cannondale guy (sorry missed your name) for managing it!

Andy's Big Hit sure is a crazy machine!

I won't be doing weekend rides for quite a while now.

Late May B/H will be the earliest, but think we have friends down then. Next chance will be 14-15th June.

If Jane isn't going to be there, that'll be just 3 of us.

Poss room for one more, if anyone fancies a challenge.

I am really looking forward to it. Expect to get wet!

  • Oh no..just cleaned my bike...not sure if I can come now..only joshing will have to avoid the puddles..

  • I might try to join you on Thursday. I'm having a few problems with an annoying knee so will see how it feels.

I know Dunmere really well, used to ride there a couple of times a week but last year they started cutting a lot down. I haven't been since so will be interesting to see how the trails have been affected.

What time are you meeting? I presume the pub is the Borough Arms?

    Cheers.
  • 6.30pm at the Borough Arms...c u there knee permitting....
  • a friend recently showed me some excellent trails a few miles behind lanhydrock 2hrs of near constant single track riding plus there looks to be some good dh spots of the main trails to. not waymarked at all so need some initiative to get round but properly good.
at the moment moving into temporary accomodation whilst trying to buy a house and sort out my wedding so no time last weekend to get out but hopefuly may get out this weekend.

There's plenty more that we didn't do too.

Must say, that was one of the best rides I've had for a while.

That last section was well worth it.

Yeah rest up bud, can't believe you came off though, guess you got a bit ahead of yourself. ;)

I am defo out on the bike for the next few days, the weathers really meant to be picking up so i really can't say no, besides i feel naughty for that big bag of crisps i had pre ride so i have to make up for my sins.

Good to see you all though, i will be about during the week should anyone fancy tagging along, no idea of what routes i'll be taking though. 8)

Hey tim that cleaner you suggested works a treat, stronger than muc off as well, i may dilute it further just to be safe. :)

    Right time for a beer......

Yeah although my rear shock is kia, it's a leaking air from an adjuster somewhere, i don't think it's fixable, ffs typical!!!

I can't send it back as i nicked the valve to fit it on the bike, hmm.........

come monday im ordering me a Push'ed 08 fox float rp23, these are meant to be the daddy of air shocks plus the service it meant to be top notch, im tired of servicing hassles and problems.

Good to see some new people too. :D

Surf was pants but the boat trip to St Mawes for fish and chips was fun!

    Hi,

I'm moving to Falmouth this summer and hope to ride my bike in the area. I have looked at the relevant OS map of Falmouth recenlty, but to my disappointment I couldn't make out any offroad trails (apart from the Coast to Coast path that is, and the SW Coast Path, which is not meant for biking I suppose).

Could anyone who knows the area let me know whether I am missing something here? Many thanks!

There might be a coastal run from falmotuh/swanpool area all the way down to the lizard, but it's been years since ive been down that way so who knows.

But as tim said there are plenty of riding areas up around the bissoe area it's great riding territory.
