I've just added 2 more rides to an already packed calendar for cyclists in Devon & Cornwall.
Devon Dirt, a 67km enduro in April and Big Life rides, not local, but a very worthy cause.Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

And my word my Butt doesn't half hurt hahahahah!
Littlun really enjoyed herself mind so is all good! Pedaled all the way and back (and around devoran for a bit trying to find Garys place (revolve) only to find him shut hehe! Don't blame hin though lovely weather for itb!

Ooooh page 2! Noooooooo!
Had a Cracking start to the ride on sunday up in tehidy, Super dry and Silly fast trails! Awesome! flying along, but did get to the tree felling area you mentioned mark, bit of a mess there hey!!! think i may email the tehidy guy about it and ask when they plan to clear it! see if its due to be done soon or not??? pita as cracking bit of st that!!
however (as youve seen the fb pic's) on clambering over my ankle rolled inwards and twisted badly witrh a loud crack! seems just a Bad sprain (according to the Nurse shaped object i saw at treliske in the avo when it had Swollen up lots and was Very painful lol!) , but is painful to walk on!! had lots of pain and some pretty stars in my eyes for a while!! but as of where was, no choice but to ride on, figured i'd ride it out!!! cut the st bit short and dropped down to the path at the first run down and aimed into the lower woods,
some shelter building means the big log roll on the fist tracks been dismantled so think a mid week wonder is required next week to redo!! but found a very nice very short section between the two paths, had an investigate up the woods for a start by walking it back but appears from nowhere, shame as would make a cracking section!!
the top path with the 4 log rolls on has been ammended a bit too, the first one has also moved as logs were crumbly, butt the rest are still there, but a couple of places could do with a minor sculpting again, so maybe a trip with a trowel is required!! 8) about time i did something in there for the amount of time i'm in there hey!!
will have a good nsey around the top upper area by east lodge carpark as seems a few in the wtrees areound there, might make a nice little loop in, and also up int he trees out towanorht cliffs too, see what can be found and used!! and more importantly, remembered lol!!
Bissoe this sunday!! hope the wet spell were due ends and dries a little by then!! been a hwile since been out there so be good to have a laugh, littlun wants to come along too on the tag along, so should make it more fun!!!!
Oh, and the pump track/skills track at the barn's coming on a treat! close to finished!!!Timmo.

Goood news, Email from the forestry peeps came in last night,
reads as follows!
Thanks for your email about the trees over Keepers Walk path.
I apologise for the inconvenience caused; the work took longer to complete than expected. An external contractor was carrying out the removal of the timber with specialised machinery & he was delayed in returning to the site after the trees were felled for longer than I would have liked.
The work to extract the timber has been done this week so you should now find that the path should be open again.
If you experience any further problems please let me know
means my Favorite trail is clear! wahoooooooooo!
hoping to get out on the bike and get up into the lower woods and reconstruct the log roll thats been removed, possibly try and make it a bit better?? but! on letting eldest daughter in yesterday before going back for little one, Foot on the door mat slipped down the 3 steps out the front of the house causing an ankle stab at an ankle on the floor = Immense pain!  all i can say is it hurt more than swearwords can compute!!! Almost on the Verge of tears! proper out of breath moment! really not good, , rested with it up all avo and lots of ibuprofen and ibuprofen gel on it and has improved a Lot but still need to be careful! but whilst on the bike feels okay as foots in the right position!!! so we will see!!!Timmo.

snuck out for a quick ride yesterday, Awesome blast around tehidy, So fast rolling, Throwing the bike around, was a joy, build up a small log roll to compliment the ones there and to replace the knocked down one, felt good on run over it, cruised around and up to the top again the other side the lower woods and cracked on over the other rolls, down through the ST. So good!
cruised out to portreath, along to the barn, having a chat noticed zip on saddle bag opened, went to close only to find 1 tube and a few cable ties!
so ordered new tyres and retraced the route to find my parts!!! gently cruised it so i could see! Nothing into portreath, Nothing up to gwell an More, Nothing through the top the woods and the little track to the side of the main path, nothign up on the trails of the main path in the top wood (badgers walk??) Nothing on the nice techy St bit that had the tree's down, Guitted.
spotetd some other bikers, asked them, but turns out the guy leading was more interested in making excuses for his bike thatn anything else!!! (one of the forces groups, half a dozen on basic giants, leader wearing lycra rest in baggies and t-shirts!!)
cruised on up into the lower woods, around the little path between the 2 tracks and up the ST in the middle, Nothing, upto the log rolls where i knew the bike was on its side, Nothing, , poo, carried on up the track and Spotted something, Hello, thats my puncture kit, Ooh, there's the rear light, Oooh, there's the tyre leavers, turned round saw a bag ducktaped up, that'll be all the spare bolts, spoke nipps, etc, but further up and saw my spirulena ball, so celebrated by eating it!! 8)
so up to the main path turned around and back down, spotted the energy gel, then the Leatherman stylee multi tool, happy days! follewd along through and dwont across the paths to the bottom, no more Bount, so along and up to the top again for the other route, nothing up the top, nothing where i knew the bike was over where i put in a log to make it less of a drop on one roll, carried on, spotted the Tube, bit further and saw the rusty mbr allen keys, cruised down the rest but didnt spot the Spoke key or the chain tool , so Blasted down the final section that i'd cruised Up earlieer and made for home!
Happy i found 90% the kit, might pop in tomorrw with a magnet barr and see if i can picjk up the other bits!! ! 8) 8)
was nice running it twice wiht a trip out to the barn inbetween but was Some knackered when i got back ahhahah! didnt even bother cleaning the bike! todays job! 8)
but also, the skills and pump track down the barn is pretty much finished now too, so that'll be a lot of fun over the summer!!!! 8) 8) 8)Timmo.

Hey Steve,
where abouts are you in the County Fella???
Cornwallmtb club ride on sundays at half 9 around and about the county, mainly Mid area, (link in my sig)
Cornwall trailriders ride on sundays at half 8 from Redruth, tends to be a faster paced ride around 25-30 miles, and often have night rides int he area too,
there are a few other clubs around and about, and most can be found through Marks site (fsr-xc) http://cyclestuff.terapad.com/
hope that helps a little?/Timmo.

I can write a short from memory update on the Grogley and Bishops ride, but I don't want to spoil the surprises for the loop. We did get a little lost to start with, then we found the trails we used to ride - but thanks to the race series there and some local builders there is some super new trails at Grogley but old route through the wood is almost gone now as it's too overgrown.
Its a long ass climb to start with, all fire road. Trust me after our planned initial warm up the climb will be made worthwhile. We may revisit this route to make it even better. The only thing stopping our exploration was the fact that I had to journey to Cardiff for my first exam. I could have easily stayed longer and sessioned the trails more. ITS THAT GOOD. This is an area we NEED exploration in, it's a sadly missed site off our calander. If we have locals we could do with a few peeps sessioning to find better loops. Mind you, that could be said about other areas on our calender! I'm sure people are hiding great new loops! I'd like to go back to dunmere and other previous rides too, plus trying to find rides futher south down near here.
I'm deffo going to be contributing more to the club once I've finished exams, I know my ride partner is going to be a little tied up later in the year due to Karin having another baby - but we have ways and means. I'm sure me and mark will be out and setting more loops for the club together in the future! I've got ideas, and although I won't perhaps have as much time to ride as now. I will have time to explore, and explore I shall!
Oh and I'll be going out to session my route for sunday midweek, if anyone is bored. Perhaps friday if it isn't really silly wet.Big Rich of The Cornwall Mountainbike Club

Cool. I'd deffo like to ride some of the loop. I found new ways of making it slightly shorter than prev. Only because it was real long last time! I can cut out either the end bit from carnon downs on (which is about 2 or so miles) or I can cut out at about Bladhu way. Actually I have about a million routes into and out of work, some will never feature as part of this ride. Only as they increase the amound of onroad action which means I can even do a TOTALLY different route starting in devoran.
best way is to show you the runkeeper routes from my main commutes to work!
Route in - http://runkeeper.com/user/raymenrh/activity/14385805 (minus last mile and a bit near three milestone) - Distance 6 miles
Shorter route back http://runkeeper.com/user/raymenrh/activity/30364506 (take off FIRST two miles near treliske - distance 7 miles) Total 11 miles.
Longer route is going to add 5 miles on at least. Although the trails should be super dry right now, so it'll be easier going. It gets a bit churned on some of the routes, especially as they get used (and ruined) by horses.
I can always pick you and the bike up too, rather than you adding the distance from yours to smokeys.
Oh and I wont have the ragley - she has poorly forks ( Lets say SRAM had bad news after I sent for service which I won't talk about - but I will say cycle logic have been really LEGENDARY about it!)Big Rich of The Cornwall Mountainbike Club

Yeah - I know the forks are a year old... but. Supposedly the inner legs are scratched, which means I've definately been washing them with regularly with a pressure washer (which I never do). I think this forced dirt through seals and thus scratches inners. Although it COULD be a seal fail, I don't know enough about it. They are second hand, so I suppose here in lies the issue. I don't know what happened to them prior to me owning them.
At one point in this mess I was almost looking at new forks, because - the damage would have eventually wrecked the seals and internals. The only way forward was to either replace with new - or pay for all the repairs. Else I could NEVER get them serviced again and eventually they would just, stop working properly. Although the cost is high, at the mo I've gone with the repair, as it works out cheaper in the long term. There is no way I would replace with anything of much lower spec - especially as they are maxle forks (which means they are more expensive, and replacing them with non maxle isn't an option)
Bike shop have really been legendary, totally supportative of me so yeah chuffed with that (as a note, could we get them on website?). Just a little shocked about the damage and cost at the mo. I only sent the fork back on a whim, I'd lost my gate vavle knob and the pop-loc spring was a little sticky (which I've heard is quite common) Plus I am thinking of riding the bike on the Wales trip, so wanted her serviced - I did the forks to keep her outta my hands for a while over my exam period. SRAM sent LBS email quoting user guide and saying that I hadn't followed it. Which seems a bit harsh, I know I ride a lot and I can be a little hard - but I ride ALOT! They MAY come back and do some, all or non of the repair on warranty. I await an update from the LBS.
I'll message you regarding the ride later in the week. I'm up to Wales tomorrow and back tuesday (final exam) I'm off work Wed, Thur and FRI. I could really do any day. Only real planned thing is music on thursday at 6pm.

Not to blow ones own trumpet, but half way around I was thinking "I'm really enjoying this!" then I though "and its MY ride *massive grin*" Only bit I'm debating is the road section because of the group, as I can take it elsewhere off road. I like that loop up past the farm tho, that hill is my personal going home "torture chamber" to pay for some of the ace downs further on! Hopefully it stay dryish for the rest of the week too so the trails stay nice and quick .
On another note (as timmo is aware) I got the Pig back after a service -(here in a semi inducing magazine pose) :P. I had a general service, but I sent my 2010 rev's off to SRAM for they're first service too, as the club are rocking brechfa soon. My poploc spring had seized a little, and due to an argument with a bush I'd lost the gate adjust vavle knob. Then I found the legs where scratched internally  .... and it was going to cost ALMOST as much to replace the parts as replace the forks . After debate and a chat with the LBS and my father, we went replace parts as cheaper on the math. Then my LBS did something awesome and chatted to SRAM and I waited for the MAHOOSIVE leg replacement bill. It never came. I was tottally taken aback  and then could have shook the blokes hand off when I got the bill because it was a LOT less than I expected which = .
In other news, I'm starting to look for a few parts that'll soon need replacing on the reign, chain, cassette ect - may replace the rings (rather than whole new crankset). Tim has me rather oogling at a RS reverb seatpost as my seatpost is the original cheap raceface one. I need to get my calipers out to measure my old post, it's THAT worn... (timmo also told me about the oakley custom shop, thanks timmo - I'll have mine in white with a blue frame and a blue logo, but £100!), and I may just of accidentally ordered a £100+ pair of shimano MTB shoes (they where the only ones available in a 14!)
