    Thanks Timmo

Currently the main aspect I have focused on is the information content (retailers / clubs / events etc). Iwill find out about the Idless series and add the Mud & Sweat stuff onto the events.

I was thinking of making the newsfeed more of a blog and making it the main page. Content for this will be the hardest aspect of the site. I haven't got time to update it all the time, so I will need articles / news / fun stuff from different sources.

  • well, unsuprisingly Madison dont want to replace the rear mech under warranty! they claim its been Dragged by a large stick/stone etc. have emailed them back and suggested that maybe the Warranty team Might actually want to Look at the mech to see the condition of the lower cage!! 6 months use and has three small stone chips in on the outside of the lower jockey wheel cage, their descision, and am a little gutted, and an expensive trip into shiny nice mechage for only 6 months use!! still, will make a nice trophy for the club for the next awards presentations!¬!!!

  • Rode the ragley for the first time in a long while at idless today. Rocked up real late after forgetting my riding shoes, so I had to hent up the hill chasing after everyone else. The new 36, 22 Front and 34, 11 Rear gear set up certainly made that little task interesting. It felt like I was in a much higher gear than normal. Probably because I was! Hell the thing moves though when you shift it down the block.

Eventually I made contact with the club and we dissapeared into the trees. Now I'm a man who likes his certainty. Although 80% of the year my Hutchinson tyres are sweeter than a chocolate fudge cake, I do find they break loose a little earlier than I'm expecting. Hence running the highrollers on the reign. I know the breakpoint in uber slippy wet muddy leaf mulch of doom. So investigating where newtons laws of motion come into effect out; on a Hardtail, smaller length frame than I'm used to was fun. Lets say I had a few comedy moments. Still others in the group had more fun. Mainly Kensa on her new felt, who argued with roots and lost, time after time. Gotta hand her the commitment medal for pulling herself up and keeping going though! Rock hard that lass.

I was beginning to enjoy finding out the point of 'no return' on the ragley. Then as I was powering up to do the DH into the carpark, with a massive grimace to mark just how much POOOOOWEEEER I was forcing through each pedal stroke. *ahem* , my non drive crank arm decided it had had enough and alighted from the bike. So now you know, I was putting at least enough force through the pedals to undo two pinch bolts and shimanos magic bearing pretensioning dohicky. (I've had this happen a few times with the ragleys cranks, they are quite worn hand-me-downs from the reign).

So after reattaching my cranks, hooning about abit more, riding the awesome DH to the carpark. I decided, as everone else was packing up to go home to watch grown men get payed extortionate amounts of money, to kick a bit of plastic around a bit of grass, trying to get it inbetween two bits of metal and more than occasionally falling over for no reason and crying like a massive girl because they had an owie.... anyway, I decided to hent up and ride a sweet bit of twisty singletrack and get in another DH run. It just didn't feel like I'd actually ridden very far.

So me and mark L rode the lovely singletrack and got our faces eaten by trail covering gorse, and we we're going to go back up the hill to ride the nice DH with jumps in it (tm). However I felt another wobble from around my pedal area (don't you just hate that lads and lasses?) thinking it was my crankarm again, I checked it wasn't loose. Then I checked my pedals. Pedal movement. A pedal that moves up and down is probably a sure sign that you're pedal threads are probably, what we call in the professional sence, fucked. I decided to bail out of my idea to ride the nice DH with jumps in it (tm), thinking that near the bottom the rocky section of death may just be the area that you REALLY didn't want your pedal to detach itself from the bike. I imagined shin meeting rock and shin loosing, badly.

So It's new crank time people! (yay!). I've just looked on CRC and Holy Hell, a Shimano SLX Triple chainset is now £130! All thanks to the condemmed goverment for upping VAT.

XT now offer a 180mm crankset for only £30 more, I'm tempted being 6"5'.

The XT crankset has a 26 granny tho.

but according to calculations, a 180mm crank length has reduces the gain ratio on the big rear ring by 0.1, Which I'm sure is really exciting. The XT is silver and is probably a little more suited to my bling ideas, plus I have an XT front mech so it'd be nice to have things all matching, in a CDO way (because thats how you should spell OCD if you've got it!).

  • awesome write up fella!

as said on fb, go XT over slx everytime, have ridden a few slx clad bikes and not been impressed by them, just lacks the crisp precision of Xt, cassette's, shifters, mech's the lot, if you can get the best you can!

glad your back on the ragles though, thought we'd lost you back to the land of the Bouce!

had a crackin blast around tehidy with Ferg and his mate Matt today, such a good laugh, Very slippy, but a great laugh!

  • hello again no one!
well, it turns out my tyres are out of stock and Extra have no idea when they will be back in so the step into the tubeless world has had a minor hold!! but the jacket has arrived!
quuite impressed, very light, and an XL is suprisingly large! such that i could most likely got away with a plain Large! many waterproof zips, pit zips, arm p[ocket, inner cable routing for earphones, all in a nice jacket! pleased, would be nice if it came in something other than Black mind but otherwise good! might be a while before i get to try it out on the bike though as the good lady wife's in hospital at the mo waiting for an op, but will let you know how i get on when i do!!

anyways, as this is more seemingly turned into my blog thread now, i shall bid you farewell untill next time!! happy cyclebiking! 8)

  • Hey everyone,
Just wondering if there are any group rides coming up? I ride a fair amount, I have to justify the bikes I've bought. Since moving to Falmouth I've been very slack about finding a group to ride with, but am fed up with the solitary confinement and the majority of the road miles I'm doing. Need some good old mud and singletrack.

    So heres hoping.

  • Hello james!! *waves*
nice to have someone else reply in what seems to have turned into my thread now hehehe!
have a look in my sig fella, link to Cornwall mtb club, weekly rides on sundays, this coming sundays is helston based, always a weekly ride on sunday morning, scattered across the county, lead by regular guys, More about haveing a Good laugh with your biking mates than a serious milage dash, link to clubs facebook page on the home page networking section,
is also a page with rides of interest on the meet sheet drop down menu, contains brief details of a few local clubs that might be of interest,
if you fancy a faster paced ride typically around 25-30 miles then have a nose for Cornwall trail riders, (face book link on said page) meet Early suinday mornings in Redruth, typically 3 hour ride??
Cornwall Freeriders also have Regular rides all over the place, a lot around bissoe/popldice area, as above, link is on the club's other rides page,
i think they are still going, nut not sure, used to be a group called Chodski indians out Newquay way, not seen or heard much of any of them of late though,
am sure there are a few others ive missed!
Mark on this thread - fsr-xc has his own site which he started a couple of months ago, has a few more links to road clubs if thats your bag too! can be found here http://cyclestuff.terapad.com/

    hope that helps fella!

33 miles of MTB today - awesome ride!

Found ourselves in Tehidy. Noticed there are a lot of trails around there, most of which I don't know.

If you're up for it, I might be looking for a guided tour sometime Timmo.

  • yeah can do mark, i tend to stick to the main 3 in the woods,
the nice techy xc st section chris calls keepers walk i think?? - used to be part of the old race loop in the late 90's early '00's, and the 2 more playful dh stylee ones in oak woods,

there are a Load up in the top section by the golf course, never really explored it but know there are some potential good tracks!1

it would ofcourse be at somewhat more sedate pace to your usual though mark!!!

not made it out anywhere this week unfortunately, but have been on the school run daily, after yesterdays 'stage' the school were lying 13th out of 1000! had dropped from 11th last week due to 2 training days so a lot of the kids didnt ride in (could still ride in throughout the day to get your point!! ) but hopefully the weather will hold for next week to give a good final push!!!!

anyways, gentle bruise on the coast to coast on sunday, will be taking the littlun with me on the tagalong to make it a bit more entertaining for me, but just hope the forecast is lying!!! dont fancy it in the rain hahahah!
