    Oops

PLAN = early bed saturday, wake 6am sunday, get stuff, go to Bedgebury, have ride

ACTUAL = late bed saturday (er, 2am  ), wake 9.45am, get headache pills, blush prefusely :?

Sorry guys, was looking forward to that. Hope you had a good ride today.
I 'spose there's always next weekend

Lol - at least i had the courtesy to book my hangover in advance :wink:

Glad the weather held for you Deadpool. Was pretty cold at Blean yesterday but a good ride nonetheless. Lost it twice on that off-camber section  Might have looked quite spectacular on camera - i got a lot of air time on the second crash!

Looking forward to the latest footage :)

I was night riding in Bedgebury on Thursday night with a friend. There were two others as well as we kept seeing their lights in the distance which spooked my friend at first before he realiased what they were heh. One had a very powerful led as it had a blue tint. North Shore in the dark is interesting I might add heh

Good vids :D Definitely an improvement on the first attempt (although no spectacular crashes for you've been framed)... Did you angle the camera up a bit more this time or just consciously keep your head up even further? The quality isn't bad either considering they've been 'you-tubed'!

I like the look of Bedgebury so will have to check it out soon 8)
  • Good vids deadpool. Bedgbury looks good fun, i was thinking of going there on Monday but needed to do some shopping in Canterbury, so combined that with the Blean black route. What is it like in the wet? Dose it get really boggy? Also how far is the northshore from the car park? Fancy giving it a go but only wearing pads and full face, but don't want to ride miles with that lot on. I might try and blag my dads car and give it a go this weekend....hopefully :)

    AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

I'm nearly in tears watching these!!! I am SOOO jealous!!!
I can't believe I had a beer instead of riding Bedgebury
Excellent head-camming. Some fantastic whooshy-fast-riding-panting-wind sounds.

Next time I'll leave the phone off the hook and unscrew the knocker (oo-er  ) and DEFINITELY be there. 8)

BTW, did I notice some filled-in ruts in the 3rd section? Have the promised improvements finally been started?

Blean black route? Is that the BMX bit with the jumps? They look great fun but way above my level at the moment.

My gf was at Bedgebury on Saturday and said it was great. I really can't wait to get over there!

Is anyone riding locally this weekend? I might be able to get out on Sunday :D

No the black route starts from the notice board and follows the red and blue for a bit, then goes off to the left and dose a 7 mile loop and finishes on the far left hand side of the car park. I still havn't found the dirt jumps yet, but they are supposed to be HUGE. I got quite exited when i heard there was jumps round there hoping there would be some small table tops to practice on, as i mess my pants doing anything over 2'

  • Well glad you liked the footage.

Some of the single track has been changed and filled in and it seemed to run alot smoother, also on the last 2 sections (the really fast ones) they have put 3 jumps in (small ones about the size of 2 bricks) so that made the grin factor even better, however on my second run on the last 2 sections there was some silly git walking his dogs?????????? It should be signed that the singletrack is only for bikes and if walks go down there expect to get run over

Yes I found those jumps night riding there last week heh. Luckily they are only tiny. I nearly lost it further down that section where you take that hard right and go down through a dip then onto the last flatish bit. I knew there was a big bit of mud but I hit it way to quick and ended up nearly over the bars with 1 leg out of the pedals and the bike sideways (in the pitch black remember heh), held it though, excellent fun, rode up and we did that section again :D
  • you had any trouble with night rides as its should be shut at 5 pm this time of year.

Nope. Last week two cars with I presume staff in as they had yellow dayglo jackets drove past us right near the official start around 9pm, presumably just doing a check or something but didnt stop, slow down or say anything. We dont park in the car park though and as there are loads of public bridleway entry points you can go there at any time you want.

The dirt jumps at blean are fairly big- I'd guess the smallest is in the region of 4', and they're all doubles (that I've seen). On the other hand they look like they've been worked on for a long time, so should be good to ride.
If you want smaller, there's some over at Sturry, which does have a nice tabletop to cras...errr... practice on. [/quote]

Sweet vids, you got it much better this time. I noticed the new triple jumps on the last section aswell, they were great fun taking them at speed. Watching the vid really made me want to go ride!

You wont miss the bmx jumps at blean they are huge! yet to see anyone riding them yet. There are smaller jumps allong a turn off on a firetrack cant say where cause im not an expert on the area at all, found this vid on youtube of them, not my vid though and its a bit crap

Anybody seen the Lapland bit at Bedgebury? fake snow and all! wish i was a kid again as that looks good.
  • They look a bit more do-able. If anyone knows where they are let me know. I really want to get the hang of jumping.

There not to hard to find, just off a main bridleway/fireroad.

Well here goes my attempt at directions…

From the tarmac road at rough common go along the car tracks towards the rough common car park. A little way along on the left, well before you reach the car park, is some singletrack. I can’t remember if there are 2 or 3 tracks from here, but you want to take the one that is second from the left (i.e. doesn’t follow along the fence to your left). Soon you’ll hit a rough, muddy bridleway which you want to turn left on. At the end of this bridleway you come to a crossroads. Go straight over and carry on straight down a nice (fun but short) downhill track. At the bottom of this track is a wooden bridge, over which you’ll find the jumps.

That’s the way I’d go but I’m sure there are a dozen other ways to get there! It takes about 5 minutes to get there from when you leave the road but its quite easy to take a wrong turn.

By the way i'm definitely free on Sunday morning if anyone is up for a ride? Blean or Bedgebury? I'm just keen to get out after being stuck indoors all week :D

Does anyone know if Blean is still good to ride after all this rain? I know it'll be muddy but I'm hoping it doesn't get so boggy you can't get round...
  • well i should be up for Bedgebury on sunday, again as long as i can get the wife to bluewater to do some xmas shopping (earlier the better for me). I will see if the puncher king can make it as well.

Impished you up for it as well????

    anyone else for that matter.

Any chance we could make it 9? That's probably a little more realistic for me...

Where do you park at Bedgebury? It'll be my first time there :D
  • 9 is good (we can make up time on the track :D ) there is a big car park right next to the main centre (it costs £6 all day).

pm me your mobile number so i have it for the day, if thats ok.

    cheers
