Now how come your bike is in linsen's house :D

How come you know what the inside of linsen's house looks like?

I'm totally pants with peoples names but excellent at remembering even the most tiny detail and I like parquet flooring so I noted linsen's from her sig - I also renovated a old house so also noticed the balustrades, brass plug socket, markings etc etc etc

Boring yes but bloody useful, I know where everything I own is.

I dunno, BOB's been on the boards only 5 minutes and he's already pulled.

Your Orbea looks nice, BoB, but the saddle is way too comfortable looking. You need a propper man's saddle made out of something entirely inflexible.

Come to think of it, that saddle that Linsen nicked from the exercise bike at the gym should probably go as well.

Normally I commute on a fixed wheel. Since I am still recovering from shoulder surgery (left hook from a Chevy) and am not supposed to reach my arm much til they take the stiches out I'm riding this Specialized steel rigid mountainbike with big ole' riser bars. It's fun but not very fast. I had to do a 20 miler the other day and it felt so much slower than riding road rims. Since i sees street use I am running a 44 tooth chainring up front allowing only one shifter. Less parts to muck with. I'd run street slicks but since it's winter why bother?

Oh yeh, the ANSI Class II safety vest looks retarded but screw it I'm taking no chances til I can sprint again.

bigease - can you tell me what brake levers you are using with those v-brakes and do they work OK??

    Cheers,
    Don

They are the stock levers on the Singlecross. They are a Tektro lever, and specialized just calls them "Aero levers for Linear pull Brakes".

I have not been able to nail down exactly which Tektro model they are. They seem to perform well so far.

    Cheers bigease :)

I will do some more research into those. I'd like something simliar to make v-brakes work with drop bars on my Pompino.

Covers around 35 miles a day during the week, and at the moment about 80 at the weekends because it's too wet for the best bike.

Thanks AT. I've tried Travel-Agents but couldn't get them set up properly. Perhaps I'll have another go. I'm not really a big fan of canti's either but maybe I just need to set them up more carefully.

This is obviously a bit OT, so thanks for the help guys :)

    YAY!

    bikebikebike.jpg

Excuse the horrendous quality of my phone's camera. I'm too tired to get my normal digicam out, and I've only done just a little over three miles this evening but both the boyfriend and myself live up a hill.

I'm afraid I got off a couple of times, booooo, hisssss. I'll blame the fact I heat up REALLY fast, and I was fully clothed. Plan to ride in leggings, shorts, t shirt, cycle jacket only...

...methinks I need a test ride to work on Sunday!

I've left it (him? her?) snuggled up to Claudia overnight:

My own Tricross, I generally have 700x25 Gatorskins on but put the knobblies back on for the snow:

@don_don- it's the brakes rather than the levers, they are mini-Vs (shorter arms than standard V-brakes) and are compatible with standard road levers. I use a pair of the same brakes on my tourer with Shimano 105 STI shifters and they work perfectly without travel agents. It is beneficial to get noodles with inline barrel adjusters.
  • those are nice

my lovely commuter, had her 4 years and love her to bits, looking a bit shabby (well you would if a 16 stone fatty beasted you around the pennine bridleway regularly)

the only upgrade since buying her is the brookes seat, didn't get on with the selle titanium she came with.

Nice bike have you tried it in the snow yet?

not sure i'd leave that rear quick release lever like that

I've not ridden it yet, my road is still covered in mush and is very slippy. I work 25 miles from home and when it's cold it is always worse by work. I last rode in a fortnight ago on my cyclocross bike and came off on black ice, damaging the cable to my lights. When I started out it was just haw frost, which isn' too bad. I'll wait till this icy period is over before I use the Condor for the ride to work.

About the QR - there didn't seem to be a better position as it clashes with the mudguard bolt in it's usual place.

By then I might also have done up the gear cables, tapped the bars and levelled the saddle :D
