    Loving the shine coming through on the front hub. When will it be put on commuting duty? Will it be coming to the Morpeth with you some time?

    Sorry to hear about the job. Its a bugger out there.

    Rosie is a rescue bike which has been neglected, beaten and battered by her previous owner... but now that has all changed and given a new purpose in life. Found at the side of a skip in a council refuse site she had seen better days... and for the grand sum of £5 to cover the rescue workers tea/coffee i got to take Rosie home. Little is known about Rosie other than a she is a cross breed by Raleigh, a BSO if you will.. and is showing signs of age.

    Gender = Ogre/Raleigh como (sticker says "assembled by Raleigh Nottingham" on her.
    D.O.B = 19xx (bolt through axle and shimano 18 speed sis gears)???
    Condition = lightly used
    Weight = 36.7lbs

    After 2 days of stripping, cleaning, greasing and replacing she is finally ready to tackle the mean highways of britain...... i present to you Rosie....

    With spring looking as though it has sprung, I decided to brace myself properly for summer by... fitting mudguards to the Comp S/C, thereby ruining the lines, but hopefully meaning that I won't be arriving at work with a muddy stripe up my back:

  • Here's Aurora, she's a cheap and docile beast, bought on the cycle to work scheme, but I wouldnt want to use an expensive roadie for my 24km each way commute - the roads are so crap in London.

    Summer wheels [Pro-Lite Bracciano], Chorus carbon crankset and better padded seat. About 8.4kg. If only I was fit enough to do it justice.

    Are those the Defy-specific mudguards?

    How do you find them? I've just got a Defy 3 and I was thinking about picking up a set in preparation for winter.

    Yep they are, fit very well and I've only had to tighten them once in about 4 months, they hardly rattle at all. I got mine from the Giant store in Bromley, there's a few Giant stores dotted around now. Can't remember how much they were, but I like them.

    Edit to add: It's probably easiest for you to get them online somewhere

    Things I know already:

    1) I need some black and white pedals (Keo Max 2 Carbons should fit the bill)
    2) The red and black tape doesn't go, I need to change it for the black and white I've got
    3) The stem needs to come down 2cm and the steerer chopped, but I'll do that once I've finished the fitting process.

    4) That all I need now is pair of deep rim carbon wheels.

    Nice. How does it compare to the S1?

    Well, it doesn't rattle like a tinkers bucket for a start!

    It's a hell of a lot smoother, it handles as just as well and I've got the same confidence in it's cornering. Doesn't feel as fast, but that because I'm not having every single piece of tarmac described in detail to my bum.

    Funny you should mention the deep rims; I was thinking it was a shame not to have some S60s to go with the groupset.......
