cheers, tbh i dont really do it justice, i ride in once or twice a week (30 mile round trip)as work and kiddie dropping duties scupper any more than that. i am only into it for around £1600 as i started with a second hand bike from LBS, then broke that frame after a car/roofrack/carpark barrier incident, and insurance coughed up enough for the frame which LBS did for a grand as it was a display frame two model years old.
  • this is my commuter hack

was set up as SS when i got it, but the climb over Hampstead Heath soon put an end to that!
  • Been lurking for a while so thought I should post. Here is my trusty steed. Got the bike in June through the Cycle 2 Work scheme, pretty pleased with it. Have been doing been 15 miles a day, 5 days a week and no issues.

Well and truly got the bug now though. Spending more spare time than is healthy looking at bike websites for an upgrade.

I'm on the CS7 every morning so give me a wave if you see me!

    Hi guys n' gals,

This is Dizzy my mostly Trek District.

Bars and stem are vintage Ti from Raleigh special products, rear wheel is laced up to a Fixie Inc flip-flop hub running taller than standard gearing, Brooks Saddle, Halo Twin Rail Courier Tyres, leather grips, Shimano DuraAce calliper.

SIlent and deadly (although I admit also a little loud!).

  • A recent commuter/light tourer build of mine based around one of the cheap Vitus Stag CRC had been selling. Always fancied the euro trekking style bike, like a Koga or something but couldn't stretch to one of those.

Not sure if I will commute on it, but as it is making the journey home tonight - it qualifies for this thread!

Not sure about where you have chosen to mount your pump, could make for an uncomfortable ride!

  • woodford2barbican - that is indeed a lovely bike. I used to have a Basso Columbus SL and loved it. Beautiful handling and great classic looks, but I used to get ribbed for riding a heavy steel bike - but it never felt heavy to ride. Some fecker stole it though. My girlfriend's sh_te Trek mtb was chained to it, and doubtless the scrotes were after that rather than my fine Italian steed. It was probably cut in half and chucked in a skip! Such a shame - full Record throughout with the fantastic looking (but poor performing) Delta brakes.

Is that the XL frame on the SL Pro? I can't decide between the L and XL.

I'm 6'4" so my choice was easy - XL. I'd give Planet X a call and they'll give you some advice on which size to go for. I'm more than happy with it.

I'm 187cm, so I'm in the grey area between the two and it isn't possible to visit the showroom. My current bike is a 61cm frame which feels just a bit too big.

I know it's foolish to compare myself to the pro riders, but all of them who are my size ride 58cm frames or equivalents - only the very tallest choose frames any larger, so I might go for the Large instead.

(Apologies for OT post, one day I'll put up a pic of the Triton)

FWIW - I'm 6'1" and have the Large version of that frame (see above) the saddle height is at the limit but its just right. Reach is fine, but on the aggressive side. Looks like you're just above 6'1" so the Large might still be ok. I have a 34" inside leg measurement if that helps.
  • Cheers for that notsoblue. Now I know what to aim for when reading the paper freewheeling past :D

    Nice bike though.
