Rain tomorrow, so on with a set of Crud Roadracers. Pretty easy to fit, but a bugger for fine tuning at the end. Still, they look like they will do the job.
No appologies for the state of my garden, since none of you are ever likely to visit it.

I love my new budget OTP fixie so much, it has really brought back some joy to my long daily cycle commute. (22-36 miles, laziness/morning freshness necessity dependent)
Coming from a CX bike, & before that a hybrid - this bike seems ridiculously easy to ride fast.
Tackling steep hillls; I keep tending to find it so easy to press on uphill at around 15-20mph, at least for a few minutes, but during this somehow forgetting that I'm a heavy smoker, & being forcibly reminded at the (conveniently located) lights at the top of the hill, as some kind of anaerobic threshold is reached, & the oxygen debt kicks in (cue 3-5 minutes of trackstanding, elbows on bars, while frantically hyperventilating).

_Jon_ wrote:Took delivery of a new commuting bike on Wednesday to add to my collection of bikes. A Giant Escape 2. I managed to buy it new online for £320 which I thought was quite a good price.
Spent yesterday assembling it, adding mudgaurds, pannier rack, and cycling computer. Then finished it off with a prop stand and final adjustments today.
Pretty please with it so far. Although I've not had a chance yet to ride it outside of our garden.
I had that bike and it's great. Got it when I got back into cycling a year ago but then realised I wanted a full on drop bar road bike. Sold it and regret it, although I do love my new spesh secteur elite apex0 -
Picked it up today.

Just finished building commuter bike. Rides really nicely, and survived first trip on the road to Silverstone and back..

Right now, I've been using this:

Heavy, hard work with the suspension and it's several years old !! Hadn't been used for a couple of years until I dug it out my parents shed a couple of months ago.
In the market for a new bike however and have narrowed options down to two hybrids - so as soon as I decide, I'll hopefully find commuting easier, quicker and more fun!!0 -

My trusty steed of 2 years.
2009 Scott S30
Around 10,000 miles and all original parts still - except for the drive train, handlebars (used to be a flatbar), wheels, seat, etc. A bit like Triggers broom then.
Edit : and one from the front. You can't see that dent can you? good.
