Nice bike! How are you finding the belt drive? How does it compare to a chain?cjcp wrote:That's some saddle height you got going on there!0 -

I'm loving it. It's taken me about 70 miles to get the tension right which can be a pain because adjusting the wheel position also throws off the alfine gearing. However, now it's right it's great; you get that 'direct connection' feeling of a fixed but it's completely silent. The whole bike is silent in fact. Coming though RP in the fog last night was a little eerie.Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX

Maintenance is to hose it down and to ensure the tension is correct.Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX

Sorry dude. I must admit that your bike was my inspiration, but there's no way I could have justified an Ti frame. Also, this is very definately a 'transporter' frame, not a racing frame, even if the race is CX.
I love my bike, but I expect a CX Ti frame to be a different class. I really, really hope it all works out.Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX

okay revolution track, it's going to be the new commute hack, not ridden it yet. just unpacked assembled and moved the lights and rack over from the old hack.
It will need mud guards of some sort as expected the old full guards will not fit.
will at some point need new pedals and tyres but we'll see how it rides first! leave it SS I would expect. see how stiff 80inch gearing is though it's a lot lot lighter and frankly better bike than the old hack ever was.0 -

Like it, but:
-What is it
-What's it made of?
-How much did it cost?
It's a Civia Bryant Alfine
It's steel
It cost $1599, plus shipping and taxes.Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX

Its a BSA 20. It was rescued from a neighbour's shed and taken away gratis.0 -
The Pompino, now with added mudguards.
Very capable on the canal path, even got through the surprisingly muddy field, though the close-fitting guards got a bit clogged. Quick hose down and she's good as new again :-)Misguided Idealist0 -

Looks familiar to me too, I don't know if it's his though. IIRC his chopped RSW is black.

Dave - have you got any more pics of the Pompino in brown?
Had to sell my blue one before the move, and now can't find a suitable replacement, so will be ordering another in the new year. Torn between the brown and green (not the glow in the dark, as they say it loses the glow after 6 months in UV light - I reckon that'll be 3 if I'm lucky down in Oz!!)Cannondale Synapse 105, Giant Defy 3, Giant Omnium, Giant Trance X2, EMC R1.0, Ridgeback Platinum, On One Il Pompino...0
