I saw a Sigma bike by Wandworth Common today. I don't see many. Was it you? It had TT bars unlike the pic. I was driving :(

Had a bit of a cleaning session on both bikes today. Here they go. The MTB I posted a few weeks back but I changed the fork, bars, stem, headset and bar ends. Yikes!

    :) Excellent. Understand fully.

Which brings me to the obvious question, will I see you on Tuesday? I am in really bad shape, but my mates have managed to get me to commit to going - it is going to hurt.

I'd like to, yes. Work got in the way last week and definitely can't do a week Tuesday.

It seems I'm in similar shape to you (e.g. am presently over 4 mins down on my 3 Lap PB). So, in all likelihood, I intend to (a) use it to see how long I can hold on before being dropped (six laps max, I reckon), and (b) when I am dropped, to use any other riders around me to push me that little bit more than if I was just lapping the Park.

@Kurako - not me, mate. What's that road bike of yours?
    FCN 2-4.

    "It stays down, Daddy."
    "Exactly."

Thought you may have got some clip on bars. Actually come to think of it I think the forks were red too so a completely different bike

The road bike is a Univega Via Strato (I updated my sig too). It's pretty much how I got it from Evans. I put some tape round the anchors for the mudgaurds and lights and the back tyre cut up after about 1 week so I stuck a Conti GP4000 on. It's still good despite some rather impressive looking gouges. Also they stuck a Fulcrum 5 wheel on the front instead of a 7. Not that I'm complaining.

My Carrera Subway 2 (not the current model!). Kitted out recently with the excellent SKS Chromoplastic mudguards.

I have been commuting to work on this for the last month, have had some issues with the gears which hopefully will get sorted soon. Other than this has proved to be a solid performer. I have been saving bundle of cash and more importantly have taken strides towards my goal of getting fit.

In the short term I plan to get a rack and some pannier bags to ease the pain in my back caused by my heavy rucksack! In the longer term I am aiming to get a road bike.

I too had initial problems with the gears on my Subway 1 which still persisted after returning to Halfords twice. I was starting to think the gears were just pants and thinking about upgrading. At its 6 week service I expressed my disappointment and when collecting the bike was told the mechanic had spent considerable time on the gears. Hey presto they are now spot on. Halfords hit and miss service again but if it aint right just keep going back.

    Tiagra Shifters and rear mech
    Ultegra brakes and front mech
Old XT spd pedals, might splah out on some 770s
Garmin 705 'puter with cadence coming when I can find a cheap sensor
    FC-R700 50/34 compact crankset
Schwalbe Blizzard puncture resistant tyres which don't work  as the previous owner had a puncture and put a new tube in before I collected it

    dscf457.th.jpg

Got to replace the rear gear cable as the end is frayed and the front mech needs a tweak, apart from that I'm happy apart from the weather.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

+1 (well, if the price is right...;) )
Sometimes parts break. Sometimes you crash. Sometimes it’s your fault.

My partner and I have been really chuffed with the response on the blog! We're working hard on getting everything in place to start selling asap, but the biggest thing is getting the bike right - we've decided that we don't want to press the button until we are happy it is ready. The Alfine build brought with it some minor tweaks that I'll be making to the drawings so this will delay the second iteration somewhat ... but my feel is that we'll be ready to go in a couple months. :)

    Hei Mickey

    Hvordan går det? :)

I commuted most days in the winter (well, a mix of train and bike) on a 2009 model Jake The Snake (purchased from Rå Sports and the helpful Noah). Excellent bike.

By the way, where does your commute take you, out of interest?

Hah, also purchased from Rå Sport. Raskesykler is my preferred shop but they don't do much outside of high end MTB or high end road bikes.

My commute is down from Kampen through Gamlebyen, Opera House across the centre to Aker Brygge, all the way along the bike path past Skøyen to Lysaker then past that to the Tandberg building. (You can usually spot me wearing a Tandberg cycling jersey so it's no secret where I work).
All told it's just a little shy of 12km and pretty comfortable traffic wise and quite scenic when I'm not concentrating on pedalling.

    How about you?
