Fortunately I have a spare F&F lying around, so The Pig will be reborn. Amazingly the frame seems to be fine apart from a bent mech hanger.

Should get something titanium next time to stop that happening......

    Posted the sorry story here.

Basically rode flat out (thankfully tempered by a headwind) into a parked car. I'm fine apart from a sore neck.

:D Gotta laugh really you big nobber.

If it had been carbon forks you'd have launched yourself as the carbon fractured rather than bent...

Essentially I did that (little old lady turned right across traffic without seeing me & I clattered into the side of her at 15mph) - the forks were fine.

    The frame snapped instead.

Avanti Roman interesting paint job, tell me how long have you had your ribble grand fondo? do you REALLY like? and is it any different to the sportive?

    Thanks ....

Cheers - the 'snakeskin' paint job is the result of trying to wire brush through the many coats Specialized apply. As I was wiping down I actually liked the effect so polished it instead.

Re. the Gran Fondo - Yes I've had it about a month now and I love it - Stiff yet comfy enough for longer rides, and it feels lively not wooden like some carbon frames. It is a different frame to the Sportive, a little heavier but with beefier tubes and on a purely subjective basis, I prefered the looks. In the end the poseur in me won out over the weight weenie!

I think the Sportive may be slightly taller in the headtube and the forks have a carbon rather than an ali steering tube. I'm sure most would be just as pleased with either to be honest and I think the Sportive is a great basis for a budget carbon weight weenie build.

There are some decent pics of mine in this thread:

It has arrived down here now (I bought it at the LBS up near my best mates house in south west Scotland) I have next week off so will be getting some miles under my belt before starting to commute on it.

Intrigued by the paired rear lights. I take it the, ummm, widgety thing I can't remember the name of, extends back far enough to not rub on the backs of your legs as you pedal. I've always wondered whether a single vertical line of LEDs gives an impression (to motorists) of being thinner than one actually is, but when I put my rear light horizontally, it annoyed the hell out of me as I kept clipping it with the backs of my thighs.

The widgety thing is called a Minoura Space bar. I've used one during the winter with the bar in the vertical option mainly cause of the 2 Cateye LD120s mounted on it, didn't want the Cateye markings the wrong way around
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Thanks for that redvee, I had a feeling it was something like that, but couldn't put my finger on it.

TBH, the stem is a bit long for me and since I've not got round to changing it, it's more comfortable to have the hoods up like that. I never use the drops when commuting anyway.

Not had any problems with thigh rubbing thus far (about 22 miles of ride time), I believe I have a couple of inches of clearance :)

They are simply THESE ones from Slime.

They add a bit of rotating weight, but as I use this virtually everyday I wanted some additional protection!
