    Erm! tell me more.....

They are simply THESE ones from Slime.

They add a bit of rotating weight, but as I use this virtually everyday I wanted some additional protection!

i used to use them on the MTB can't say they impressed. failed on snake bites and lost too much air with thorns.

I don't think they have actually been called upon yet.
I'm sure they will now I've said that!! :(

Plus if you do get a p********* you can't repair them as no patches will stick as the green gunk spills out and stops it from adhering to the tube... I didn't buy anymore

The new single-speed, done a couple of commutes so far:

This is replacing an old, heavy MTB on slicks. I love it so far, but still getting used to riding something so light!
FCN 6 in the week on the shiny new single speed.

FCN 3 at the weekend - struggling to do it justice!

I bought this 2nd hand for 200 quid in 1999. It's still going strong. Thinking of replacing the steel forks with something lighter as I've done pretty much everything else. Thompson stem would be nice too :)

    Thanks. Hubs are XTR ;-)

I've bitten the bullet and I'm going to replace the steel fork with an aluminium one. Will also take the opportunity to stick on a Thompson stem. It's getting seriously close to being like Trigger's broom!

TIme to reveal the trusty old commuter

    4476397435_c6c4d94ff0_m.jpg

She's a Diamond Back somethingorother, with rebuilt transmission, slicks, guards and a rack, and has been taking me to and from work and all over town for 5 years. Best £25 I ever spent.

Just took the old commuter frame out of the for sale box and attacked it with stripper, imagine my surprise when I didn't find a Raleigh logo under the layers of paint but rather a very faint name on both sides of the down tube, looks like "Dave ??NN" can't make out the last name yet.

Ah right it says Dave Quinn anyone know them?

All the parts have finally arrived all I have to do is cut the fork steer, fit star nut and swap over my commuter wheels and it's ready to roll

They're Ergon GC3s. Very comfy and supportive. Not sure about longevity yet.

@CJCP: That's a very nicely made frame. Like the matt red finish as well. I'll keep an eye out for it on the Embankment.

What did I miss? Tired of the Kona?

@Roastie - not tired of the Kona, just that I'm not keen on the canti brakes for commuting - the squeal, their ineffectiveness in the rain - and wanted a bike I could use at CP or Hillingdon. Definitely hanging onto the Kona because I want to race more CX next winter.

    :) Excellent. Understand fully.

Which brings me to the obvious question, will I see you on Tuesday? I am in really bad shape, but my mates have managed to get me to commit to going - it is going to hurt.

I just got this on Bike-to-Work to replace the On-One Inbred I'd been commuting on. It's a Cotic Road-Rat Factory Alfine.
