my old commuter that i used in 2003/4
my current commuter courtesy of Ride to Work scheme: 3,500 commuting miles on it during 2009, aiming to beat that this year (mine's on the left)
FCN = 40 -
My new commuter - an old Peugeot Carbolite 103 10-speed. Not many mods (until I've saved enough travel money) - new tyres, Charge Bucket saddle, new chain. Matching Charge bar tape due whenever Wiggle get it back in stock...

The commuter, in all its, er, glory....
To be fair, its perfect for this time of year.

I have been building up my old MTB frame to replace the steel heap I have been riding to and from work, just needs a rigid fork now and it is pretty much done.
Pic of the bike today on the way to work:
(Has knobbly tyres on due to snow/ice, but the slicks will be back on soon hopefully)0 -
Ignore that last post, the bike lock was cut and bike stolen from my work yesterday But thanks to my Insurance; I now own a Trek 3700, new pannier rack and lights Can't wait to get my grubby hands on it and get it 'commuter-ified' sharpish 8)0

ITB: 26er?
Nice - we've been playing with one of those (an Inbred) lately, but ours is a 29er. With Alfine.David

My own version of the ultimate fast commuter; kinesis tripster alu frame and carbon fork with avid bb7 disks, deore on the back, road double on the front. Currently rigged for winter with studded tyre on the front and cross tyre on the back with full guards, will strip down for summer and run skinnier tyres.[/img]vendor of bicycle baskets & other stuff www.tynebicycle.co.uk

Okay, I succumbed to the urge to put old brakes on it and ride it; the least anticipated bike of the year is ridable and here are the pictures (and facts)!
Yes, I now the chainring looks tiny, but it's a 32:13 and was the best I could do with the chainline
Total spend, about £50 (chain, hub spacers, rear axle, rear sprocket, bits) with everything else recycled off old bikes or donated by neighbour. Labour (mine) included stripping/regreasing headset, removing old BB (nightmare), fitting shiny new BB (easy with right tools), rubbing down wheels & servicing hubs, plus a few jobs I've blocked from memory.
The ride? Fun, quiet, and damn it feels quick.
Would I do it again? I intend to....0 -
I love it marchant!
I have this weekend taken the old Raleigh suspension off my commuter and fitted the rigid fork, and it looks very similar to yours (except for the ghetto SS element of it of course) a pic is in my Sig.0 -
Plus I like that if you Google "Raleigh Aztec" the first hit is a question I asked on a Raleigh bikes forum.0
